WBPC May 6th 2013 Wonder

Does anyone know the schedule for our transit thru the canal? Also, are there other webcams besides those on the 'pancanal' site?

This was the schedule for the last East Bound. Obviously we are going in reverse direction but the start and end time should be close...

Passing Bridge of Americas: 6:30 AM
Approach Miraflores Locks: 7:30 AM
Depart Miraflores Locks: 8:15 AM
Approach Pedro Miguel Locks: 9:00 AM
Depart Pedro Miguel Locks: 9:25 AM
Approach Gatun Locks: 2:15 PM
Depart Locks: 4:15 PM
Depart Cristobal Harbor: 5:30 PM

By extrapolation, this should be our approximate schedule...

Arrive Cristobal Harbor: 6:00 AM
Approach Gatun Locks: 7:30 AM
Depart Gatun Locks: 9:30 AM
Approach Pedro Miguel Locks: 2:20 PM
Depart Pedro Miguel Locks: 2:45 PM
Approach Miraflores Locks: 3:30 PM
Depart Miraflores Locks: 4:15 PM
Passing Bridge of Americas: 5:15 PM

This could be off by 15 to 30 minutes but should be pretty close, but, of course, as the EB Navigator stated, subject to change depending on traffic and weather.

This was the best cam site I could find, has links to many other cams...

Hope it will not be too hot as we hope to walk the 5 km and we definitely are not used to high humidity or hot temps!
Beginning to pack now.
Flying out on Sunday. Getting excited!

:goodvibes I guess it might be hot and humid for you but shouldn't be too bad - 80's. I am in SW FL and we are being hit by a large storm system that is headed East to the Bahamas. I have my fingers crossed that it moves fast enough that it will pass through Miami and Castaway Cay before Monday. According to the weather channel it looks promising that it will gone by Sunday. :thumbsup2

The good news for you is that I think this storm is cooling things down a bit (to low 80's) but no doubt it will be humid.

You won't believe what arrived in the mail today, on the 2nd last day it could arrive to come to Miami with me, and after it has travelled for weeks and weeks across the Atlantic ... MY FISH EXTENDER! Yeah!!! ::yes::

(Although I must say I'm almost sorry to have it, since the ugly makeshift one got me several offers of prettifying it, plus the "whose FE is the ugliest" contest ... can mine still be the honorary ugliest now? :thumbsup2)

I'm planning on doing the 5k too...my first attempt! Been training with Jeff Galloway's 5k program and can run/walk it at a 14 min pace. Atlanta is very hilly so I'm hoping the effort on the hills in ATL will compensate for the Bahamas heat....:)
Lynda

The CC5K should be fun and as it is early in the morning after docking, it should be as cool :cool2: as it is going to be that day. I started with the Couch to 5k app last year and now I'm training for a half-marathon. I think everyone who wants to should do the Castaway Cay 5k. Runners, joggers, run/walkers, and walkers. I am in the jogger category and average 11 min/miles. I would hardly call that running. :) When I use to do 10K races, race-walkers would pass me near the end of the run :lmao:(that's how slow my jogging was) :goodvibes.

Who else is joining us on the CC5k?

Two more work days left before vacation. :dance3: Leaving Friday after work. :cool1:

Well done you - glad you're able to bring the original! We'll call it a tie:wizard:

Scott and I will be walking it - we're averaging between 16:15 and 17:00 minutes/mile here at home, but am not sure how the extra heat/humidity will affect us (or the late dinner the night before!)

Hoping they will have plenty of t-shirts in stock....

If anyone is interested I just cancelled my wave runner for CC at 10:00. The excursion is just not what I want to do. I just want to ride, not take a historical and nature tour.

So how do you sign up for the 5 K? It sounds like I wouldn't be the only walker.

From what I've read (being a CC n00b) it's not treated like a Port Adventure; instead, it's listed in the Navigator you'll get the night before. You show up at the assigned meet time & place on the ship & disembark together, then walk to the starting area.

DH does graphic design and layout for publishing and used to be a grade school teacher and textbook writer, so he created a workbook for the cruise. It's geared towards younger kids, but my MIL is printing one for herself so feel free to use it regardless of your age. :thumbsup2

DD and her cousin will be using it as part of their independent study work to turn in when they get home, so maybe it will be helpful to those of you who homeschool or have worked out something similar with your kids' schools.

Well the car is packed to go to the airport tomorrow or today depending on where and when you read this. By this time tomorrow I should be in Ft. Lauderdale. You know I watched the Wonder dock this morning on the webcam. I kept telling myself, the next time she docks, you are boarding her for 14 nights. Almost a half a month.

This is probably my last post in this thread until after the cruise, because once we're travelling, we are really old-fashioned and do not have any internet.

We are both on our last day at work, will check in our luggage tonight at the airport, and then fly out of Germany tomorrow morning at 7:00. I hope we don't spend too many hours waiting in line for immigration at Miami Airport :scared:

See you all on Monday, or maybe even before that if you happen to be staying at the Marriott Biscayne Bay too! :cheer2:

I did exactly the same thing. It was really beautiful with the sky starting to lighten up, and all the lights on the ship. I hope she will be ready for us, because we are certainly ready, ready, ready for her.

You all need to remember to wave to Anne, Richard and me on Monday as we watch you board the ship. I bet we will recognize some of you!

As a way of helping Anne, Richard and Sharan share in the cruise, a couple of us are creating "Flat Stanley" versions of our pals... but we could use some help!

You see, they'll need outfits for formal night, pirate night and something to wear on Castaway Cay.... so if we could get some volunteers to go over to flatstanley.com and print out the Flat Stanley and Flat Summer templates, then create some paper doll-style clothes for them - that would be great!

Just have to get through today and tomorrow of work, then we fly out to Miami Sunday night!

Finished the FE last night at work, yippie!

Just arrived in JFK waiting for our flight to Fort Lauderdale and then car to Miami tonight. Had a fantastic crossing on the QM2 with really quite calm seas but the wind was cold so we didn't get out on deck too much. Didn't expect to that far north in the Atlantic though. I was poorly with my pancreas for the first 3 days or so but managed to enjoy myself anyway. I had to miss one of the 3 formal nights though.

Not long now till we are all aboard for LA!! :dance3::dance3::dance3:

Funny how so many of us received just the opposite of what we would have picked. We got 5650 the so called "Barb and Tony suite"... It is not a suite but this couple have stayed in the room some 40 times+. We really wanted as far forward as we could get and now we are as far aft as you can get. Oh we'll beggars can't be choosers ;-)

We had this room for a 7 night cruise a few years ago and it was fine, lovely and quiet. The good point is the nice balcony, wider and private. The room is slightly narrower and didn't have the steamer trunk, at least 3 years ago. It does rain into the balcony but hopefully it won't rain!! They do come and suck it all up though, once they came to all those balconies at the back and once we had to call them to come and do it!!!! The puddles got quite deep. I would stay there again. Lovely and quiet spot as there is nowhere to go past you only around to the other side.

Safe travels to you and John! We so look forward to seeing you again.

And us you too:cool1:. I do hope I can stay awake for an odd Geezer night too.

Safe travels everyone and see you Monday. I might get back online in Miami, not sure.

Well bags all checked. Flights still open. Baring any hiccups, we should be landing in Ft. Lauderdale around 10:45
