Caribbean Beach FAQ part VI

We are staying at CBR in July for the 5th time and always request Jamaica. Does anyone have an update on the Jamaica rehab? Is it just painting the outside or is it also an update on the rooms, queen beds etc.?

No definite info yet. The only thing that's confirmed is that the outside of the Jamaica buildings are being painted. Hopefully, someone who has been recently can chime in and give us an update.

I thought that I'd do a live chat with a Disney castmember and ask about the refurb. Not surprisingly, they didn't have current info. The Dis is more informed than Disney castmembers. :rotfl:

Thank you for contacting Disney. Please hold while we route you to a Walt Disney World Cast Member who will help you with your question.

Welcome to Disney, you are now chatting with 'Summer', how may I help you today?

Lisa: Good afternoon Summer! My family and I are traveling to WDW in May and are staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort. I know that they are painting and doing some work to the Jamaica village. Will they be doing more to the other villages? Just wondering about noise/construction issues?

Summer: Hello Lisa! Let me check our information for Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and see what updates they have provided us!

Lisa: Thank you! And, while you're at it, can you check and see if there's any word on whether or not the resort will be getting new rooms/queen beds? I know that it's the only moderate with full beds now since the Port Orleans refurb was done.

Lisa: Queen bed conversions would make my day. LOL!

Summer: The resort has not provided us with any information regarding painting or other construction at the resort. Did you receive a letter in the mail or an email informing you of upcoming refurbishments during your stay?

Lisa: No, I have friends who just got back and said that they are painting and there were construction type vehicles in the Jamaica village. Definitely some work going on there.

Lisa: Not just touch-up work.

Summer: In regard to the double bed question, at this time the resort does not have plans to upgrade to queen beds. While I am sure this may be considered in the future to match our other Moderate resorts, there are no current plans.

Summer: It may have been part of the resort's annual maintenance, but they are not currently listing any resort wide refurbishments.

Lisa: Hum, maybe that's it. I guess we'll just get there and hope for the best. Be sure to tell the Disney fairies that we Caribbean Beach lovers sure would like to see queen beds in the rooms. (wink wink)

Summer: I will definitely pass on your suggestion to my leader. Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort is one of my favorite resorts as well and now that my children are getting older, queen beds would certainly be a plus!

Lisa: A plus for sure! My teenage son is closing in on 6 foot and is quickly outgrowing a double bed.

Summer: I can see where that would be a problem!

Lisa: Thanks for checking on the refurb for me. Have a great afternoon!

Summer: You are very welcome, Lisa! Our Chat team strives to provide the very best levels of customer service. If you have a minute, I would really appreciate your feedback on a survey that will pop up in a new window by clicking the exit button on the chat box. Your feedback is always greatly appreciated! Thanks for contacting Disney, and have a magical day!

Anyone want to join me in a little dance!

We are now booked to stay at CBR 26th October to 9th November 2014. We got "free" QSDP and have upgraded to DDP so will be revisiting some of our favourites from last year!
We have never stayed at CBR before and are really excited. I just know our DD will love the pirate ship theme at the kiddie pool! :goodvibes

:cheer2::cool1::cheer2:

Claire :)

Congrats on booking the CBR! The kids' (and the main pool too) pool is super cute so I'm sure that your DD is going to love it!

I think the answer is "no," but can someone tell me definitely if there are microwaves in the rooms? My 6 year old is an oatmeal-a-holic in the mornings, lol, so if there are, then I'll bring some instant for him. Thanks!!!

Not in the rooms. But there are a couple at the food court.

I read on several trip advisor reports that there is a walking path from the CBR to the Magic Kingdom. Does anyone have any information as to where the trail is and what village it would be closest to? Will be there June 7-14.

Those reports are inaccurate.

You may be confusing the Caribbean Beach with the Contemporary Resort.

Went back and reread the reviews, but I trust the info from these boards much better. Could not see how there would be a path but I knew this was the place to get a clear answer. Looking forward to CBR as our 9yo son chose this resort after we toured several back in January and he is bored of POR (even though it is our favorite, esp after remodel)

We plan on staying at Trinidad South, pirate themed rooms, and I noticed that these are the last bus stops. We plan on doing rope drop, what time do we need to be at bus to make sure we are on it. We plan on going June 3-7.

Sorry if this has already been answered on the thread but here goes....

We are staying in a Pirate Room for our visit in October.

Will we be one of the first stops for the buses - and do we run the risk of the bus being full?

It's about 5 miles from CBR to MK and that's if you could walk a straight line between the two without worrying about roads, trees, etc. Don't know where that person that wrote that review got that info, but there is no way to walk from CBR to any park. :thumbsup2

The Trinidad South bus stop is not always the last stop on the route. Sometimes, it's in the middle of the route around the resort. Most of our trips have been during the month of May and into June and the bus has never been too full to take on the Trinidad South guests waiting at the bus stop.

Can't wait to go here next month, it's felt so long, but now just round the corner.

Great info on here, mickeystoontown info was excellent too.

I did note about Trinidad South being heavily Pirate themed. Was this just relating to the actual rooms or is the surrounding areas Pirate Themes? Or are the buildings etc just the same as all the rest?

Good morning! The Trinidad South rooms are all pirate themed but the outside of the buildings are just the same as the rest. Each village is painted a different color but are, basically, the same.

We have not been to Disney, in almost four years we have stayed at the All Star Movie Resort twice and loved it. Now that our daughter is older we have decided to upgrade to a moderate. Will be staying at CBR, May 24-28 and all three of us are excited!!! We were able to get a preferred room included in the price. Our request we put in was ground floor, near transportation. We are planning to stay in Orlando the night before to get to the resort early on the 24(which is the resort day). Not worried about room being ready early, since we will be driving and can have access to our luggage easily. I did online check in, my question is should I leave the two request of near transportation ground floor, or should I change it to a building request, the two that were offered were Martinique and Trinidad North(from what I read these are the preferred buildings)? Our main goal is to be close to transportation and the the town center. Would like some suggestions or feedback to those who have stayed here.

Hi, quite funny with the time difference as it's late afternoon here. :thumbsup2

Many thanks for the superquick response.

Would've been great if they did some sort of changes to the actual building and surrounding areas, but not to be.

If ground floor is important to you, I'd leave that request as is. You are correct that the villages of Martinique and Trinidad North are where the preferred rooms are located. Honestly, since all of the villages have their own bus stops, I don't think that the "close to transportation" request is all that important. We have stayed in two of the preferred Martinique buildings and loved it when we were in Martinique 26. The walk to Old Port Royale was super quick and we used the OPR bus stop since it was so close.
