Halloween on the Magic 2013

The things that are announced so far look really impressive. They are implying that this is just the day-1 stuff and more info would be trickling out between now and when it goes into the dry dock.

But honestly, what I find more impressive then anything else is the massive amount of things they plan to do to the ship.... all within a 6 week timeframe. I would imagine that since no guests will be on the ship coming back to Miami, there will be some things that is done during that time too, but still. That is a lot to rip out of the ship and put back together... with little to no time for mistakes.

So yeah, excitement.

Hi all! My family will be joining you all on this cruise.
I've seen some talk about the idea of starting a Facebook group, but haven't been able to find one or seen one posted in this thread.
So I started one ....
Disney Magic 10/27/2013

If there is already one started, please accept my apologies and just let me know what the FB page is called.

Does anyone have suggestions for a good place to stay the night before? Preferably where you can park and take a shuttle without paying 2 arms, a leg and an ear.

Hello Everyone.

Looks like my family will be joining you all. I can't believe it! I have been asking my DH for another DCL cruise for years, and when I brought it up the other day, he said Yes! without hesitation. Aaaaaaaggghh!:cool1:

Our last cruise was 4 years ago, when my twin boys were 5. It was a 7-night on the Magic out of PC. Cozumel was one of the stops and we did the Chankanaab national park and their dolphin excursion. I did not book through Disney and saved considerable money. It was a great excursion and easy to do.

Since the 2009 trip, we adopted a little girl from China in 2010. She was 5 at the time and this trip will not only be her first cruise, but it sails on her 9th birthday! She is wonderful, and I can't wait for her to have this experience.

So, our crew is Me: 48
DH: 49
DS: 9
DS: 9
DD: 9
(maybe Grandma: 70)

My daughter is 5 months younger then her twin brothers, so 7 months out of the year I have triplets!

I am so, so excited and I will definitely be doing the FE. I even know what I am getting.::yes::

Welcome to all the new-comers to this thread!! Our ship sure is filling up!
I keep getting more and more excited...October can't come soon enough for us!! I think we might stay at this hotel before the cruise.

Is everyone doing Door Magnets? That is one of my favorite parts of of Disney Cruise!!

Totally! They are fun, the kids love them, and I remember them being SO HANDY to find your cabin door when there feels like miles of similar doors all around you. I like to do the Mickey ears around the cabin number, and name ones on the door. I promised myself I wasnt going to do as many as last time (yeah right...;) ).

Hey everybody my wife and I just joined your group. We are 40ish semi-adults traveling without kids. We love Halloween and are very excited to see the ship decked out. This will be our 1st trip to Miami. Does anybody have a recommendation for a good hotel?

Hi all...We have not booked yet, but plan to in the next couple of weeks. We are super excited about this cruise, Halloween and coming out of dry dock...and leaving from Florida and not going to Nassau again!!!

This will be our 4th Disney Cruise, and 2nd time on the Magic. We always drive (from SW VA) I noticed some other people driving, I will answer any questions I can if you have any, but as we are not leaving from PC things will be different.

It is myself, my wife, and our 2 DDS (4 and 7)

Someone asked about princess dresses. BRING THEM ALL!!! Our girls have every cruise. The princesses on the ship love it when the girls are dressed like them. Also, in the kids club will have a "learn to be a princess" ball with Cinderella and they are encouraged to wear their dresses.

We are thinking about booking this cruise

Our first cruise with DCL was a Halloween cruise.
It was a 7 nighter.

It was AWESOME!!

Hi everyone! It's me again.
Haven't heard any response from anyone with regards to the Facebook page.
I made a facebook page for our cruise. It can be found by searching in Facebook the following:
Disney Magic 10/27/2013

I am going on the Fantasy May 18th sailing in a couple of weeks and we developed a large facebook page where everyone seems to gather for most conversations.
When this groups FE list gets completed I'd love to post it on the page, as it is a closed group only for these members (which allows all personal information to be kept between members only)

If you have problems finding the facebook page, you can private message me on here for help.

Hope to see you all there!

Welcome to the cruise! We are just getting off the Dream and heading to wdw for two days then onto the Fantasy Saturday.

ooo, just the person I want to talk to.

we have friends that are thinking of joining us on this cruise. Their DD (4) frightens easily and they are worried there will be people in scary costumes on Halloween night. I think, this being Disney that is an irrational fear.

Could you shed some light on what to expect Halloween night?

We sailed on the Wonder for Halloween a few years back. I don't recall any scary costumes at all. Mostly pirate stuff and superheroes. A few wenches that might have been toeing the line of good taste. That is, of course, subjective.

Scary, I guess what is scary to one child may not be to another.

You will see the normal characters, dressed up in Halloween party costumes.

You will see the normal kids costumes for Trick o Treat around the ship. I don't recall seeing anything that would have been bad taste for DCL cruise from anyone really.

BUT for the Adult costumes there were some pretty crazy things but none out of DCL taste, I guess the scariest thing would have been this couple dressed up like the ghosts from the Haunted Mansion , impeccable make up they were awesome. But I think everyone keeps in mind that you don't scare the kids.

The kids trick or treat is a blast!!! And the party is very fun, basically anther form of the sailaway party. Most people stay dressed in costume all evening through dinner and then on to the Adult judging of costumes.

A lady from our Dis group won one of the categories, her an her DH were Marypoppins and what ever man goes with her (dunno).

Don't forget there is also pirate night........

Where many people dress up as pirates or wear pirate themed clothing of some sort too.

I have only done one 5 night cruise.

And It wasn't Halloween,

So I wonder if they will do both Formal and Semi Formal and Pirate night and Halloween Dress up Night. that only leaves one night left. Should be fun packing for that:rotfl2:

This has been a crazy few weeks. I figured out that I will be traveling 15 out of 24 days.... with my sister. Basically I am going to spend more time with her in these few weeks then my wife and kids.

While traveling, it seems that many new people are joining (or thinking about joining) this cruise. Welcome Welcome!!

Nothing personal, but neither my wife nor I Facebook. I could go on a long rant as to why... but nobody is interested. Personally I prefer the forum... but I might just be the weirdo in the group.

Last year we went to the MK for halloween and did MNSSHP. There were a lot of adults dressed up. Some were..... wow.... very impressive. I can say that there were some that I personally felt were a little too over the top for MK. Some were a little too risqué (be it a little suggestive or a bit scary).... but not so much that would get you kicked out. Nothing was horrific.

That said, 98% were fine.

My kids (9, 6, 4 & 1) were never frightened. My son is the oldest and three girls. My wife and I am very protective of them and cautious about what they see (movies, tv etc). At no point did we feel like this was too grownup of an event for them.

I would imagine it would be the same on the cruise.

it isn't that I am not interested in the FB page, as I FB at least once a day, as I also come here at least once a day.

I just prefer to keep my DIS ing on the DISBOARDS.....

It seem like when a FB page is made, some people don't come to the FB page and then some dont come back to the DIS boards.

The other sailing I am on in OCT 2014 has a FB page and now It seems like 2 separate groups.:confused3

I sort of wish that DIS boards would make the ruling like Cruise Critic and not allow FB to be linked to their site.

Any way I am sure you will get those who feel differently.....this is a small group actually, so:confused3

I'm right there with you Dizzi. I might check out the FB page, but I'll keep my posting to Disboards since its a disboards event.
