I'm planning a Disney trip in October...any advice on which port Orleans resort to pick? They both seem nice.

We stayed at POFQ in December 2011 and walked through/ate at Riverside. I think if you're looking for something more pastoral and laid back, go with Riverside and request a building that's not horribly far away from the main building. The main complaint I hear about Riverside is how spread out it is. This is why we picked POFQ. It was fairly compact and had a different vibe; a little more upbeat and French Quarter-esque- fittingly!- but along with that comes more "urban" feeling grounds- still nice, though. Bus service from POFQ was great. Not sure how it differs in reality from Riverside, but they always picked us up before the Riverside people. I don't think you can really go wrong with either.

I love the French quarter it is a smaller resort and it is quiet at night. It is a little more expensive than riverside but I love the place. Been to Disney 50 times and French quarter in top.5 resorts

I agree.....we have stayed at both, but prefer POFQ because of its compact size. The time we stayed out in the mansion buildings at POR, they were so far out, it seemed like another resort. Both resorts are great, but we chose POFQ the most.

I kiddingly discourage people from going to POFQ. It's the only place we go so I want to make sure there's enough room for us.
There may be better resorts. I obviously don't know.
I like its smaller size and its theming. There's only one bus stop which I like.

One thing to keep in mind, POFQ has not been included in the last several
discount/promotions. I stressed over whether to choose POFQ or POR for weeks. Choose POFQ, then the discount came out and POR was included but not POFQ and therefore POR was $600 cheaper so we ended up switching.

We love POR...have stayed there twice and I never really understand y people think it is so spread out. It is bigger than POFQ but u can cut across the entire resort by going through the main pool area. I love the atmosphere. It just feels so relaxing after coming back from a busy day in the parks.

We loved POFQ.. Perfect restaurant, pool, good walking distance etc.. You will not be disappointed.

A POFQ fan here but POR would be our second choice. You don't mention if there are any children in your party. I think the POR pool would be better for older children. The slide at POFQ seems more for younger children. One perk of both is you can use the other's pool

I also find POR to be a more serene, tranquil atmosphere. Love it there, especially the mansions. I didn't find it to be too spread out.

I have not stayed at either before, but I originally booked POFQ for this October. However, I decided to switch to POR based mainly on the better pool & slide for my 9 year old. :) I made sure to book a Preferred room, though.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. I've booked POR for this October and can not wait to go!! My kids are watching the Disney planning DVD right now and getting so excited!

I love POFQ just based on size, but if you are hopeing for fall sales you're going to be better off planning on POR. I still think I might stay there one of these times if I can get a decent price on preferred room, but all prices being the same, the small size of POFQ is going to tip the scales.

Checking in Oct 2nd and I'm getting more and more excited as each day passes!!!!:cool1::banana: and the weather should be perfect.
