Official California Grill Open ADR Watch Thread

I just tried again this morning and no ADRs yet.

I have heard to make the ADR an hour before Wishes is scheduled, but I haven't personally been to CG yet so maybe someone else has better information.

Thank you posting the link! That's awesome we have finally heard some confirmation they are still planning to open in late summer. Hopefully they give us some advance warning on when we will be able to book ADR's but that's so exciting it should be in the next 4 weeks!

saw this story that was posted yesterday the Disney Food Blog:
http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2013/...nd-epcots-france-ice-cream-shop-menu-updates/

It indicates:

"California Grill is still looking at a “late Summer” opening…likely early September. Get ready to make your reservations as booking should be available in the next 4 weeks or so"

Also indicates they will be offering an Omakase menu at the sushi bar. (like a chef's menu)

I got this news yesterday via the Disney Food Blog also. However, I just received a letter from Contemporary (I had written to ask them about this lack of being able to make reservations) and they mentioned nothing about it. Seems like even they aren't exactly sure when the renovations will be done. Of course, it could be the "we know nothing" tactic but since it was directly from a California Grill representative, I would have thought she would have mentioned what the Disney Bog did.

I can always hope that the Disney Food Blog is right as now they are talking here on the Blogs that free dining is about a week away from being opened up for September (my travel dates). That makes my competition for getting a CG reservation even harder.

Anyone else have this concern?: How do I book the Cali Grill reservation (assuming ADRs become possible soon) without canceling my backup reservation and potentially getting stuck without either one?

We're well within the 180 day window so there's no need to give out our BW ressie number (I think), so I'll have wifey reserve CG on her CC and I'll hang on to Ohana until the last minute.

You will have to call Disney Dining directly once California Grill opens up. They will very quickly be able to cancel one to get the other. Of course, I understand your concern if you don't get the time you want. However, hopefully if not, they could quickly turn around and re-book the backup one. On line, you could possibly make on with a different e-mail or phone number to allow for both reservations and then cancel once you have booked your GC reservation. Hope that helps.

I have been changing reservations around online today, and every time is says that it will not cancel the old reservation until the new one is confirmed. Is it lying? I assumed I would do the same thing when Cali Grill opens.

I seem to remember that when I changed some reservations for our trip in March, My Disney Experience asked if I wanted to cancel the reservation I already had. I clicked yes and it made the new reservation, and sent separate emails for the cancellation and confirmation of the new reservation.

I don't think you will have a problem with losing your current ADR when you make the new one. I just made my ADR's online a few weeks ago and accidentally put in a wrong date for one of them. A window popped up with both ADR's and instructed me to click on which of the two I wanted to keep.

It's Friday May 3rd. Just tried to book Calif Grill for early October, and was informed that they are still not accepting reservations. On the plus side, I learned about this forum... :thumbsup2

I just tried again this morning with no luck. They haven't updated the website either. Hopefully ADRs open up in few weeks as indicated by Disney Food Blog.

Subscribing. Just found out I couldn't reserve CG when I made my late September reservations today. I would love to cancel any one of my reservations to go to CG!

Ok, I'm new to this. Can someone please tell me what it means when people type that they are "subscribing"? Thanks!

At the top of the thread there is a drop down list that says "Thread Tools", if you click that option and select "Subscribe to this Thread" you can get a notification each time there is a new post.

Thank you! I will definitely take advantage of that. Makes me wonder how many other things I don't know about when it comes to the Forums!

I just checked this morning and the website hasn't changed. It is still not taking ADR's.

Just checked and no ADRs available yet. According to Disney Food Blog it should be open to ADRs in the next 3 weeks. I'll keep checking.
