Free Dining 2013

Ok I gotcha now. You should be fine but under no circumstances do you let a CM cancel that resie. If they don't understand what you're doing then ask for someone else. I'd say as long as you hang on to what you have, they should just drop the charge for dining right off.

Now please be sure and report back to let us know how it all went.

OK super, I will make sure they just add the promo without touching the rest of it and be overjoyed when I get that credit! ::yes:: you bet your boots I will report back! :thumbsup2 Thank you so much! Sorry it got so confusing! :upsidedow

Are you sure? And you may be absolutely correct, I don't know but I thought if you were adding any discounts, fd, etc to a package then you'd have to pay any increases in room rates, ticket fees, etc. While they'd have to pay the $xxx difference between the original booking to the updated current one the FD discount would definitely give a larger discount worth taking.

Again not trying to offend or upset I just thought that I had read that somewhere and wanted to be sure.

The poster you are referring to booked last December and there has not been a ticket or resort price increase since they booked, so therefore they will not be subject to any up charge or hidden fees.

If the annual ticket or package rate increased tomorrow, before the FD promo opens for booking, then yes, they would in that hypothetical situation would have to pay the difference in the increase. BUT that is hypothetical and is not gong to happen.

If I booked a package today for November and then in July the November FD dates are released and I called and had them add the FD discount to my room, I would have to pay the difference for the ticket increase. They started this policy last fall.

Now wait, I was thinking we were talking about a room price increase not a ticket...which is it? Now I'm confused about the actual question.

Well poo, now I am totally confused... Ok, to clarify... (maybe this will clear things up for a bunch of us) In December, I booked a Magic Your Way (including Dining) for $1600 (pulling numbers out the air, btw) now, if I book the same package (add dining and all that like before) it will cost me $1900. So... will they just say, well since your dining before added $400 to your MYW package you get that back as credit? OR will they say well, since the prices have increased since you last booked, I can add the Free Dining but, you need to pay the difference in package prices first? I hope that makes a little more sense?

If you booked last December, there has not been any ticket or room increases since then. I don't know why there would be a $200 or $300 difference on your room or package total for the same dates, unless you were looking at a different room category. There would be no reason for you to pay anything extra by adding the free dining discount to the existing reservation you booked in December.

Unless there is a room rate increase. I honestly don't follow all the room rates so I wouldn't know right off....but could find out very easily.

Confused again. Oh bother, please don't kick me off the thread! :sad1: For some reason, it is a different price if I book today than when I did. I didn't have any promo, so I'm not exactly sure why, but it is different... I mean I suppose it doesn't matter if you guys all think I won't have to pay the difference anyway... I suppose I will just have to call and find out and let you guys know. Thanks everyone again, so sorry if I have hijacked this for a bit!

I was taking about ticket prices in general for that poster. There has not been a ticket or room price increase since Monorailrabbit booked, so they won't be subject to any upcharge when they add the FD code to their existing reservation.

They are booked under a package, there hasn't been a package price increase since June or July of last year. They booked in December and the next ticket or package increase won't come until at least June, maybe even August.

I promise, nobody is going to kick you off of this thread...let's dig deeper and see why it's more. I suspect the room rate took an increase since you could book at a certain time last year and get that rate for this year...at least for a short time.

That makes sense thanks for clarifying. I do wonder why they are seeing a difference in price now though.

Monorail, are you sure everything is exactly the same, tickets, standard, preferred, etc?

Did you book a Magic Your Way package in December which included room, tickets and dining?

There hasn't been a package price increase since December, so the price should be the same.

Yes probably. It isn't as much as I thought it was, which is good. I just signed out and pretended to rebook and it was only like $30 more... for some reason in my head it was like $300... not sure where I got that number from :confused3 Oh well. I suppose even if I do have to pay the increase, it is still worth it to get the free dining... when I played around just now it went from like $1200 without dining to like $1690 when I added it, no-brainer there! I will just let all you guys know if I have to pay the increase to get the FD or not, that way if this question ever comes up again, we will know for sure! :thumbsup2

411 - I was not aware of the new policy started last fall.

Am I understanding it correctly?

...if you modify an existing reservation in any way - your reservation would be automatically subject to all room/ticket rate increases?

Well now that makes more sense...I couldn't figure out what was pushing it up so high. Well at least you figured it out. :thumbsup2

Guys it's that time for me. What an interesting day this has been. I hope everyone has a good night and we will do this again tomorrow!!!

Cheers!!!

I have gone back through all my notes from last fall and I can say for certain that when I called in to add the free dining promo to my existingNovember/December package, I had to pay the TICKET price difference. I was not too happy and asked to speak to a supervisor. I spoke to Winston, a Reservations supervisor, and he told me it was a new policy. It was just the ticket price/increase for each person in my party. The package price still seemed to be locked in for room and dining, but I definitely had to pay the ticket price difference.

Some people are reporting that you will have to pay the package price increase also, if there is one, but I haven't heard anything confirmed on that.

I'm beat, been tied to the computer and phone for days, finally finished some projects I've been working on. Am going to try to "unplug" a bit for a few days, but definitely anxiously awaiting FD release day - its always crazy, but fun to watch! Lol :-)

Well, that's just crazy since your tickets weren't being modified. I wouldn't have been happy either.

Seems like they would honor the original rate and not penalize for adding a discount. Unless they got tired of people booking packages 1) in hope of FD 2) before ticket prices increased. Who knows.

I was able to add FD last July to an existing reservation (which had a prior pin applied) and they didn't upcharge me. I even bridged the tickets in Oct.

Oh well, thanks for the info...now I know. : /

The value resorts get the quick service dining, so if you want the regular dining plan, you will have to pay the difference to upgrade. Other than that you should not be charged anything more and they will simply credit you the difference to your total.

Not that it will happen the first day, but in the past, the Port Orleans 5 person rooms usually sell out first, followed by preferred rooms at Pop, then preferred rooms at All-Star Movies, then standard rooms at Pop and standard rooms at Movies. But it can vary some from year to year, some resorts will have availability the entire time the offer is open for booking.

Anyone know what the usual number of rooms POFQ allows for FD before they sell out? Sept. 10th-21st King room. Thanks.

As long as you are happy to go either way, that's fine. Please PLEASE don't make any permanent changes until after the official announcement. Regardless of what may be said, anything and everything can change. I'm not sure how some would feel come May 9 if something were different, but I think it would probably be a bad day. I've always said to make plans, but never do things like flight changes based solely on this sort of information. We can be 99.9%, but that 0.1% can sometimes come back to bite.

dont worry Im good with my changes and I know nothing is set in stone until disney releases their offers, we arrive around 545 pm so we kinda lose the day arriving so late,by the time we actually get checked into our resort I figure it could be around730 and we have 2 little ones travelling in our group and they are only 1 and 2 years old so looks like they will be heading for beddy by time by then. This is a first time visit for some of my group, so the extra day I have now booked just gives us all the more time to relax and with 2 babies that is gonna be a good thing! thanks for all your info you have put out there just the same! you guys are awesome helping out everyone!:thumbsup2
