Free Dining 2013

We will be at a thousand posts before we know it at this rate...

Do you have any thoughts on free dining for the end of October? Not trying to get you to commit...just actually trying to work out options. I know I can always upgrade to AP and get a TIW card so that'll give me some discounts. I just like to have all numbers worked out to see what is best :goodvibes Anyway, we are going 10/29-11/10...making ADR's on Thursday!!!!!

It doesn't look good. Disney is pulling back on their free dining. While we always said September would be offered, the other months were definitely being pulled back from other years.

Remember, they offered the other months when the economy tanked...but the September offer was around long before the economy turned south, so it wasn't ever a part of those discounts. But as you can see, even the September dates have shrunk, so October may see room discounts similar to what's offered now, but I think that's all we should expect.

Disney411 can chime in too, but I expect she will have similar thoughts.

The October - December free dining discounts are not usually released until July, sometimes August. If I had to make a prediction for October this year, I would say FD dates would be October 1-6 and October 19-31, give or take a day. So, come on summer :-)

Good to hear. Those events totally came out of the blue! On to smoother sailing.

No kidding...that was crazy.

There are lots of folks out there that have all kinds of information, even a girl in another thread back on the 19th that nailed the dates but didn't get any attention at all. Credit where it's due...

Good luck Debbie! We were booked LM for that same week. But I was looking at that week after booking and LM was full! I got nervous and switched to POR. Fingers crossed you get LM and free dining :)

Thank you Lazer!! It's was still open as a last week, when booking at full price.... but if not, we'll still be very happy at the All Star Sport! You have fun too!!!

Totally not ready to rule out October - December FD yet :-) I could be totally wrong, but I think they will still have some slow weeks they will want to cover with FD.

We all need to post here on the day it begins, so we can share how long we had to wait on the phone, and what (if any) resorts/room types are sold out, what we booked, what dates, etc...

We can get lots of good information while sitting on hold so we can adjust our plans if we need to.

Plus, it's fun!!! :thumbsup2

Sounds like a plan!:surfweb:

Thanks :) I will keep my fingers crossed...we are going either way but I would love it! I have back up plans at least :)

Yes...that wait...they sure know how to torture me!!! If your dates are accurate, I will be in luck! I will be giving you a virtual hug! LOL

Ummm....insane! I never posted over there....just was nosey! LOL But I felt like what started the tension was the post asking people not to discuss dining because it made the thread messy. This is a discussion forum...people (for the most part) are very friendly and chatty and informative and helpful. So, that all very often leads to branching out. Anyway, that comment had nothing to do with me, but I thought it was uncalled for. I then came back later I the afternoon and whoa!!!!! It went nuts! I think someone overreacted! LOL slightly!

I'm in! Sounds like a great idea!

I am completely new to this forum and have just been trying to research an affordable trip with the hopes of free dining. I have lots of questions, but do not want to take over the general purpose of this thread. Can I start with a basic? If this is the wrong place, feel free to redirect me. I plan on staying at one of the less expensive rooms. I want to book a room, tickets, and dining plan. If the free dining comes out, do I call back and ask for the credit? I read through and saw where some people say that the rooms may not be available for free dining slots. Which rooms tend to be less available? Any tips on how I should do this? Thank you in advance!

You're really better off to just wait and call, then they will work with you on what's available if your choice is sold out. Otherwise, you'd just end up having to change it anyway if you called and found it wasn't available.

Either way is fine. You can book your package now, with room, tickets and dining with a minimum $200 deposit and then call and add the free dining discount to your existing reservation and they will credit you the difference or you can just book your package when the FD promo is released.

All newbies to free dining should read the first page from this thread:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2771101

The 2013 DDP prices haven't been updated, but, the info and history and explanation of free dining should help :-)

Also, with a family of 6, your cheapest route is probably going to be 2 connecting rooms at a value resort. All-Star Movies value resort is our kids favorite :-)

Your user name suggests you have 4 kids? How many in your party. I have looked at all budget friendly options for larger families as I have planned for our upcoming trip. Depending on if there are 5 or 6 of you there could be different options. Let me know! I am willing to help with that aspect.

We are going 14-21. We currently have a ressie for a 2 bdrm villa at BLT. But seriously considering changing to 2 connecting rooms at WL or BC to take advantage of FD.

Black, I was trying to follow the other thread, but it got confusing, and then surprisingly hostile, so I jumped ship with you. Thanks for all your help so far (even if I have just been lurking and trying to understand :).

Now a couple questions: We have booked a BLT 2 bedroom villa during the dates. I was planning on calling in on the 6th (disney visa) to try and get FD added. Then I read the above post. Did I miss something? Would we necessarily have to change to 2 connecting rooms elsewhere to receive the discount?

Also, total rookie question and I feel silly asking, but... If I call ahead as a Disney Visa member do I call the main reservations line and tell them I have a Disney Visa, or is there some other Visa line I am supposed to call? Don't want to be on hold for an hour in the wrong place!

Thank you so much!

Meg

Hello, I am brand new at this Forum!!
I am looking forward to the forum and all the valuable info that I can see is already here.
I am traveling to DW on Sept 16- 22 and then departing for the DIsney Cruise!
So as of May 9, we are are 90% sure they will be offering the FD.
That will be a huge savings since we are doing DW and the cruise this time!

Thanks for your info on this!

I was just trying to pass the time and then made a joke when someone had an issue and everything exploded. But I don't think that was what started it, I think it was brewing all along because others were getting some attention...if you know what I mean.

No, you won't have to change resort or room category unless those particular rooms are blacked out or sold out when you call, and they're not supposed to be.

You call the main, 407-W-Disney, line.

At this point, just call the main line and tell them you want the free dining offer. Wait until you see here that others have hit it since we don't know exactly, but pretty sure it's May 6. Since you already have rooms, just sit on them until then and you'll find out if there is availability for what you have.
