How the challenge works:

This is the new and improved challenge that replaces the BL challenges. Like the show has evolved, so have our challenges and this format takes the best of that long standing tradition and makes it even better! ::yes::

The goal of the new challenge is to meet your weight loss/maintain goals on a monthly basis. Results will be posted as percentages toward goal and your color will change as you approach your goal, similar to the exercise thread on the WISH boards. It is the hope that this new format will encourage some great discussions about weight loss, maintaining, diet, exercise and healthy living!

It is up to the hostess each month as to whether she wants to have coaches/Question of the day, mini-challenges, etc. It is her month, so she can choose to handle it how she wants.

Heres how the new challenge will work. It is going to be a monthly individual challenge. Each month is a new start. You are competing against yourself to meet your goals for the month. No one will know your actual weight (unless you share it) except the hostess for the month. NO GOAL IS TOO SMALL.

Let me repeat: NO GOAL IS TOO SMALL. A loss is a loss is a loss. Your color will change based on your % lost toward goal.

On May 1st you will pm donac (hostess for May ) your starting weight AND your goal for the month. On Friday May 10, May 17, May 24 and May 31 you can pm donac an updated weight. On Monday nights the thread will be updated with percentage toward goal.

Here is an example of what the stats will look like.

Updated January 7, 2013

Minnie Mouse 25.00 %
Daisy Duck 12.00 %
Goofy 0.00 %
Donald Duck 33.33 %
Mickey Mouse 40.00 %

Weight Loss Goals:

10%, orange
25% bright pink
50% purple
75% turquoise
90% red--ALMOST THERE!
100%WISH green

In this case Goofy, put on a few pounds, but that will be reported as 0%. We are not going to call people out, but just report positive moves towards your goal!

Minnie Mouse had a starting weight of 110 with a goal of 4 pounds. At her weigh in she reported a weight of 109 with a percentage loss of 25%.

Your color will change based on your % loss. If you gain, your percentage will decrease, and your color will change, but no one will know your weight except the hostess. Only your % loss toward goal will be reported. Negative percentages will not be reported

Participants (other than the hostess) will not know your pound lost goal or actual weight unless you choose to share it with them.

Maintainers will set a goal for the month of number of weeks they would like to stay in maintain range (+/- 4 pounds).

They will weigh in on the first day of the month and then on each of the weekends. Their results will be reported as percentages along with their goal.

For example:

Pluto 1/4 25%.

Pluto has a goal of maintaining all four weeks. He put on 1 pound at the first weigh in, but is in his maintain range.

Maintainer Goals

25% bright pink
50% purple
75% turquoise
100%WISH green

It really is pretty simple. Remember, no one will see your weight or pound loss goal except the hostess unless you choose to share it.

Percentage loss will be updated once a week. If you miss sending in your weight over the weekend, no big deal, just send an update the following weekend. Please understand that this is a volunteer job and the hostess will only be updating once a week.

Hopefully I have answered all of your questions.

Good luck! I look forward to seeing everyone meet their healthy living goals!

I'm in!!!! I'll grab a moving buddy and be here bright and early on May 1st! THanks for hosting Dona!!.......P

I'm in. Can't wait until May 1st. Hopefully it will be a successful month. Thanks for leading us this month Dona!

Yippee, I'm in again, and I'm happy to take coaching reponsibility for 17th - 24th if no-one else desperately wants those dates?????

I'm in! Back as a maintainer after a really good April that was nonetheless fraught with stress about my goal weight. A silly three pounds! I've let go of the mental hangup on keeping a goal that worked for me ten years and two kids ago and, after a great conversation with a WW leader, moved my goal up three pounds today. I mean, if I'm still tracking, still on program, and running *half marathons,* I must be doing something right, right? So I'm a maintainer in May at my new goal weight. Still talking myself down from feeling like that's a cop-out, even though my rational self knows this was the right call.

That was a very long way of saying I'm totally in for May! :)

I'm in and need a swift kick in the butt to get moving in the right direction.

Lots of changes going on here, some good, some not bad but rough. DH might be getting a new job! It's good and the money might be amazing, and it's in CT but it's on the other side of the state. We are trying to decide if we should move. I won't sell this house but we are looking at splitting the driving distance so we would each have a 45 minute commute, that way the kids can stay at their schools.
We've also started a full blown renovation of the this house. Great timing huh?!?

And I've decided to do the Glass Slipper Challenge for the Princess 1/2. A 10K and the 1/2. DH is all on board with it. Me? I'm a nervous wreck. But I think I can do it, I feel more confident in it, than doing a 1/2 and a full.

Anyway, enough rambling.
I need to be held accountable. I need to start losing weight again, because running at this weight, sucks!
Oh and we have a race in 3 weeks. All uphill. :faint:

yeah i am in............. last month actually surpassed my goal........ so i think will make a moderate one for this month............... slow and steady and all that...right???

I'm in! April was horrible!!! It was the only month in a year that I gained weight :(. Back on track!

I think it's hard to know at first what will really work for a goal long term, so I don't think it's a cop out at all.:goodvibes

I'm back in....we leave for Disney on may 1 so I may have to weigh in tomorrow
Have a fabulous time!

I had a not so great April too (as far as weight). Here's hoping to a more successful May. :)

Thanks for hosting Dona!

Day 2 of sleeping through the night (for the dog ;) ) at my house. Though for some reason my body thinks it still needs to wake up for a bit in the middle of the night. Amazing how much better one feels with sleep!

A big WATP thank you to our lovely hostess, donac! :flower3:

:welcome: Congratulations on your half marathon this week-end! :cheer2: And well done for your new goal and kudos for accepting of where you are and who you are now rather than comparing yourself to your old self, a true sign of a wise woman. :hippie:

Good morning all! :goodvibes

I'm Lisa and I'm going to be your coach for the next few days. :wave2:

One of the nice things about our new challenge is that it is a fresh start. I think the April showers were a bit too much for us toward the end there so I'm going to go ahead and post a warm up question since we are all raring to go to get started. :yay:

Raise your hand if you want to go to the Happiest Place on Earth as we start our Marvelous May WATP Challenge! :wave2:

Yep, we're on our way to healthy living! :yay:

Oh . . . um . . . did you think I was going to say we're going to Disney? :confused3 Okay, let's see if we can manage to do both. :teeth:

But before we get started we had better introduce ourselves to our fellow travelers. :cool2:

Did anyone else ever go on the America the Beautiful attraction at Disneyland? It was a circle-vision movie, similar to the Reflections of China movie at Epcot. Although the attraction never moved, many people thought it did because of the way it was filmed, so the host always asked you to introduce yourself to the people standing around you, in case you needed to grab onto them.

Well, during this challenge we will all be counting of the support of our fellow challengers.

Intro QOTD (Question of the Day) 4/30/13: Please introduce yourself, if you haven't already.

I am Lisa and I will be your coach starting Friday. I've been doing the BL challenges since 2009. I'm 52, married and have a sometimes cranky teen son. I will be reaching my goal weight by the end of the year. It's taken me longer than I thought it would to get there but each and every challenge, year after year, I end up weighing less than I started. Thanks to several WISHers who inspired me I started running when I was 49. In a few weeks I will be running my fifth half marathon. I've made lifelong friends and been to WISH meets at both Disneyland and DisneyWorld. I've done things that I never dreamed possible because of these challenges and WISH who gave me the courage to start. :teeth:

A big, WATP thank you to our hostess, Dona! :thanks:

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone and to a great challenge! :flower3:

Hi everyone I'm joining in again (and helping with the hosting duties soon) I started April with a bang and finshed with a clunker! But May is looking good with new focus!

And onto May. :woohoo:

QOTD?

My name is Jeannine, I am 48, married for 22yrs and my dh had a heart attack and bypass surgery in Dec. 2012. I am very motivated to get my life on track for the both of us through healthy eating and exercise.

I have 2 dd's. One is 22 and lives at home, works and goes to school. The other dd is 16 & ending her sophomore yr in HS.

I have been working on my own health with my feet. Currently I am physical therapy for plantar fasciitis and toe pain. At this point my PT is pretty sure my toe pain is the beginning of "Morton's neuroma" and hammertoe.

A lot of my exercising will be strength training & stretching. My cardio will be bike riding. I can do some walking but I have to watch it because the nerves in my toes are ticked off at me.

My lifestyle change this month with eating will be tracking saturated fats, cholesterol, and sodium. At the end of last month I added counting calories and then gained weight.

So good luck to all, no matter your reasons for changing your life.:dance3:

H Lisa - and gang - I am Michelle (and boy did that Epcot Movie make me ) I am type 2 diabetic and have started following Atkins (mid Feb) and can't believe how amazing I look and feel even with half more to go it's also been GREAT for my blood sugars.. I hope to hit my goal by summer of being able to buy and wear cute summer dresses! I have a Hubs who 12 yrs younger then me and a Chef by trade (But I do the cooking at home!) and it's truely a perfect fit! He is good to me and my children.. We have a cat and we LOVE dogs but haven't had one since our Beagle passed 18 mo ago.. I LOVE LOVE Chocolate, Pasta (which isn't very atkins friendly) and peanut butter.. I also love to read and scrapbook.. Walking Dead and Once upon a Time are my fave dramas while I love to watch H-E-L-L's kitchen and mostly anything on the food network..

:wave2: Hi everyone! QOTD: I never got to go on that :(.
My name is Jessica and I am going to be 29 next month. My hope is to get to goal by the time i turn 30. I am married to my DH and we have been married for almost 4 years. I currently work in a bank as a supervisor while my husband is a full time student. It makes it very tough at times, which does not help with the weight loss. I have been doing the challenges for about a year, and have found some great success and support from all of you. I am looking forward to an outstanding May and getting to know all of you.

Hi everyone

I'm Helen and I'm going to be reaching the big 50 in November, which is the main motivation for my weight loss.

I will have been married for 20yrs in December, we have no children, but do have one cat who is definitely our baby!!! (Spoilt rotten!)

Sadly, out last visit to Disney was in September 2010, it's just sooo expensive to go over from the UK that we can't afford it at the moment, but hopefully in the next couple of years we will make it. Don't really like DLP, it's not REAL to me!!!!

I don't 'do' exercise as I find it boring, but have started walking a lot more recently to try and tone up a bit.

Joining this group since January has really motivated me - I usually set myself a target of 7lb per month, but have actually lost 36 so far, so all good. I'm attending Slimming World, which is a UK club, more popular than WW. (I think you have them in Texas) The eating plan really works for me as some food is unlimited and I can really fill up.

Look forward to chatting to you all during May, and you'll be seeing me as coach from 17th to 24th.
