Free Dining 2013

We are going Sept 16-20 staying at AOA Lion King. My cousin (she's a travel agent) emailed me last week and told me that she can start booking May 9 for free dining Sept 2-25. I'm not a Disney Visa Card holder. Does the free dining value rooms ever sell out just from the Visa Holders?

While some room categories could sell out, you'll be fine. There's been folks call in a month after it's offered and still get their choice. With the Visa folks, if some category books, it can open up again when the public offer goes live, as they hold some back for that date. You may have issues with AOA but I doubt any of the others will be a problem.

Well that's good to know. Hopefully they will still have some AOA suites left. If not we will move up to a MOD resort.

So when's everyone planning to go? I'm planning on September 6-14 and my dining reservations have already been made.

We are going Sept 14-21, right now we are booked at All Star Sports (2 rooms... one for my husband and myself, the other for our adult daughter) currently we have the room discount. I'm going to try to switch to AOA LM room with the free dining... if that doesn't work, then will stay at Sports (give up the room discount) and get free dining and upgrade the dining. ADR were all booked at the 180 day mark!

Crystal Palace

I'm celebrating birthday number 50! and my daughter will be celebrating birthday number 25!
I believe this is trip number 10 to WDW!! So we can celebrate that too!!
Looking forward to next Monday to make it all happen (with my Disney Visa!)

We have had ressies made for AoA Finding Nemo since early March for Sept 22-28. However, today I found out I am a beneficiary to a death benefit from a family member who I have less than fond memories of. Thinking I should spend money on something that would make my family happy like upgrading resorts or saving money for another WDW trip. The practical, budget-minded side of me, says do the latter. Then again, this could be the one chance we have of staying in a deluxe while we are a family of six. But options for a family a six are limited and we do not want to do 2 rooms this trip because the youngest 2 will only be 4 and 2. Did look at AKV-1 bdr, but do not know if they are even included in FD.:confused3 Decisions, Decisions!

Good luck Debbie! We were booked LM for that same week. But I was looking at that week after booking and LM was full! I got nervous and switched to POR. Fingers crossed you get LM and free dining :)

Wow, what an interesting story. Might as well live it up while you can.

Deluxe resorts are so nice. I've done the Poly and Beach Club and both were just incredible!!! I hope you're able to do something extra special.

I love the Poly too, it's probably my all time sentimental favorite WDW resort. We haven't stayed there in a long time because the rates have just gotten too high for us to get 2 connecting rooms or a suite there anymore. The kids now all actually much prefer the value resorts and since they are all teens and preteens now, we aren't ever in the room - open the parks up and **** them down - so, I guess it will be a while before I make it back to The Poly :-)

It seems sentimental for alot of folks. I went back in 1998 and checked in on March 23rd really early in the morning because I had a hunch...a completely unfounded hunch. So I asked the lady if by chance Animal Kingdom would be doing any soft openings that week and she said I was in luck..."today is the first day". How exciting, and I was even on the first public bus to pull up and unload. What made it even more sentimental was that my father, who had went with me, passed away a year later...but those memories last forever.

We're in AOA the week of sept 25, crossing our fingers we can keep this res, we are SO looking forward to staying there! But we aren't dis visa holders so I'm having doubts there will be availability for the LM rooms by the time the GP opens up, looks like many of us are hoping for the same thing LOL. Well atleast we all have our backup plans in line. Good luck everyone, lots to look forward too :)

Sweet :-)

My Dad also loved The Poly and my family always stayed there when I was a kid, that was our last family vacation before he died. It was also the place my husband and I stayed the first time we went, before kids :-)

I know! I was surprised at how much more poly was compared to AK Villas. I think poly will have to wait till it's just DH and I or when some kids are out of the house. Then there is my DD (4) who really wants to stay at AoA. The youngest 3 would not fully appreciate an upgrade in resort, I think. Maybe just fitting in an extra trip to Disney sometime (and maybe flying instead of driving) would be special enough. Any thoughts/ideas?
I know, it's not a hard predicament to be in. Until today, I thought these things only happened to other people. Feeling blessed.

Hey guys, I thought I'd start a post for the Free Dining 2013 promotion. I have a separate post for the room only discounts so we can discuss each one separately. I hope this can be a drama-free thread as well.

Think happy thoughts guys.

Once again the free dining in a nutshell:

Dates: September 2-25

Available to book: May 9 (Visa holders should be May 6)

Values recieve Quick Service (which they can upgrade for $18 a day for adults and $3 a day for children)

Moderates and Deluxe recieve the regular dining plan.

Most resort categories are included, at varying degrees of availability. While Little Mermaid rooms appear to be available...expect VERY limited availability for these (many dates are already sold out completely as it is).
Again, I am missing out (3rd time in a row). We arrive on September 28th...3 days after the end of free dining. This happened to us in 2012 and 2010. We cannot seem to catch a break.

We will be staying Value. But considering if it's worth the $380 to upgrade to the DDP rather than just QSDP. Right now we are only planning on doing 2 TS (Ohana and Chef Mickey) and estimating it will cost about $230 for those 2 meals. Any advice people?
