Why does Disney keep putting our vacations in spouse's name?

I am posting this on the DCL board because it has happened again. "I" reserved another cruise and once again, the cruise is listed in my husband's name.

Perhaps it should not, but it burns me up that whenever I make a Disney vacation reservation or buy DVC points, Disney puts the paperwork into my husband's name. My husband is great. Love him dearly. BUT I am the one who researches the topic, makes the reservations/buys the product, pays for the vacations and/or DVC points, pays the DVC dues, etc and yet when the paperwork comes, it is always in spouse's name. I do not list his name first. How can I make them stop being sexist? Even my spouse does not like it since he has to open the mail (addressed to him) and then pass it on to me. Anyone else have this problem? :confused3

A few years ago when my sister and I went to WDW (different last names) everything was paid by MY credit card...and the reservation was in HER name. I know for sure her name was listed second. Maybe they use the second name? :confused3

Yep, DVC does the same thing as well more times than not. Really burns me up. Last time we had a room with 8 people, when we checked in, it came up under my DILs name. That really made me mad. Then the "thanks for coming postcard" came in her name as well.

Its not sexist........it is likely your husbands name is listed first on the DVC contract.

This happened to me in a non-holiday related way. DH and I have just bought a new house, I sorted everything out from finding the house, making the offer and organising the mortgage. When we had to fill in some paperwork they then got DH's phone number and e-mail address and suddenly they started ringing/e-mailing him instead of me. He just ignored their voicemails and forwarded the e-mails to me so I could reply but they didn't take the hint so after a couple of days of this I was upfront and told them to stop contacting my husband and to deal with me as they had been before.

The DVC contract is in my name but only because I insisted it be in my name. When DVC sent the papers out to be reviewed and the contract was listed under husband's name I emailed them and told them that if they wanted us to buy they needed to correct the contract listing my name first since I am the one paying for the contract. My spouse is great in humoring my Disney addiction but if it was up to him we would Disney vacation once or twice per lifetime, not per year. :)

That's very strange. Our contract was under my name first, and we never had a problem with it at all. Hope you get it fixed!

Disney took it upon themselves to marry me without my knowledge.

I did all the planning, reservations, paying on my credit card for our "yay we're graduating university" trip and my boyfriend cut me a check for his portion. All of the paperwork came to my place addressed to BFLastName Family, even though it was my credit card and he was listed as my guest.

Then the CM on the phone called me Mrs. BFLastName. I corrected him and I could hear his quiet mortification over the phone so at least that was something. :rotfl2: I'm glad at least the hotel reservations and tickets were with the correct, separate last names but I'm still getting junk mail for a family I don't have yet!

That sort of nonsense could really get them in trouble with someone more easily offended than me.

When we bought our first house together, (my second home, my husband's first home), I went to the bank to pick up the papers we needed to review and sign. The bank officer told me to take the papers home to my husband and have him explain them to me. I could not help but reply, I have a PhD, I think I can understand what is written in the contract. Geezzzze! :scratchin

Other lines do this too. Often it is related to the ages. Oldest first.
Or as PP mentioned order of names in their systems or alphabetical. Also some suspect in order of CC #, lowest first. Although in our experience it seems random.

We don't feel it is the gender determining who is listed first.

I do agree the first name should be who made ressie/paid, unless requested otherwise.

Thanks, I plan to send an email today and ask them to correct the information. If I am going to pay the bill they need to send the information to me. ::yes::

Yep! It would offend me.

My spouse and I do not have the same last names. I tried to talk him into taking my name but it did not fly. I think I have the "cooler" last name. He likes his more "common" last name. Our child is stuck with both names. But here is the funny part, we get mail in the first name of his ex-wife and the last name of my ex-husband. Neither of who have ever lived in our state much less our home. :rolleyes2

What name is on your yearly dues bill when it comes in?

We were told this once because my Brother was always getting mailings and we were not. The CM told us it was because his name was 1st on the contract.

we have since brought his part out and now everything comes to us!

My name is on the DVC dues. DVC finally got it straight as to listing my name first so they would be paid. I was not expecting to have the same problem with DCL. I know it should not but it does irk me.

For some reason our DCL reservations tend to wind up in my wife's name.

It is not sex it is computer programming thing. As a computer programmer you have to go out of your way to put one on top and how do the decide to sort it... Age, first name, last name, ID number..... Give the programmer a break

For some reason our DCL reservations tend to wind up in my wife's name.

We've had our reservations get booked under my name or my DWs name from time to time, even though I'm the one making the reservation. Gets a little "Goofy" sometimes because my wife hyphenates her last name. Caused a bit of a issue once when arriving at the OKW gate they didn't show my name on their check in log sheet, as having a reservation. Luckily my wife thought to ask (once my heart started beating again :faint:) if they had the reservation under her name, which it was & we were allowed to proceed to check in. Now whenever I book reservations, I always ask which name is listed under, if it's DW I ask them to change it to mine. Problem seems to have gone away. :worship:

Disney is sexist?? Really??

I am married. What is mine, is my husbands and vice versa. I have plenty of examples of things that show up in my husbands name and some things in my name. Often they simply pick a single name. Neither of us take offense to it.

Dont over think it. Its Disney... all is good!

Thanks what I think too... My husband was the DVC initiator, payed the down payment, etc etc... but all documents and lead names are always in my name. Who cares honestly? :confused3 Should he feel offended? personally all he cares about is the room we booked and vacation we paid for is available for us. I am the one who groans every January when the dues bill comes and he jokes your name is on that, you pay it. ;)

Happened with my cruise as well. My husband is older and I was told this is why. Doesn't make sense to me. I am the one who plans and books the trip. He could care less if we end up at Disney or Antartica as long as we are on vacation.
