For our T Rex ADR: Should I purchase a Landry membership in advance?

We have a T Rex dinner reservation for our upcoming trip, but I made the reservation by calling the restaurant directly, not through Disney. The reservation is for 6pm (on a Thursday) and I am getting a little nervous about the long lines I've been reading about. I also read that if you are a Landry club member you are seated right away. Do you think I should go ahead and purchase the Landry club membership for $25 or just take a chance on having to wait in a long line to be seated? We don't have any Landry restaurants in our area so I would basically be purchasing the membership online and only using it for our T Rex reservation. Thanks for any feedback.

I don't see the harm in getting one. It costs $25 but they load $25 reward on the card right away. So it is actually free as long as you eat there. No annual fee or anything like that. We only use it in Disney but are able to get $25 free each March because it is my Birthday month. One of my friends got one and put it in her hubbys name because they go during his Birthday month.

Plus you can get discounts on merchandise at the gift shop!

I've only had one experience at T Rex. I also made my reservation by calling the restaurant directly. This was in early August, so very crowded, and we went at prime dinner time, and didn't wait more than 5 minutes. I had no idea T Rex had a wait problem. We waited way longer at 'Ohana. :) Lots of people were walk-ups and waited longer.

This was only my experience, of course. How long do people say the waits are? If it was more than 30+ minutes, the card might be worth it.

We have eaten at T REX on every trip and have never waited longer than 10 min to get it.::yes::

Am I able to redeem my Landry Club points at T-Rex in the Gift shop area, or do they have to be used for dining?? Also since we will be traveling with FD do you still get the points for your meal added to your card??

Now that I think of it, I believe it was long waits for walk ups that I read about. We have a reservation that I made directly with the restaurant, so hopefully our wait won't be too bad. DH could always take the kids to the gift shop while I wait for our table to become available if the wait is long. Now our Ohana dinner is the ADR I am really concerned about. On another thread several people said their wait time was up to an hour long

You can only redeem rewards for food. Adult beverages not included or merchandise. You get points for every $ you spend. If you are on DDP you get points for everything extra, apps or drinks.

For us, we were put into the line to be seated very quickly, bypassing the first line. But the line to be seated still took a little time.

Once you have the Landry's card you have it forever, so if you dine at a Landry's place in the future you'll still have it.

The long lines are usually for walk ups, not people with reservations. I think you will be fine. You will probably be sat within 5-10 minutes of check-in.

This is what we're doing. Even if we only use it on vacation, we will use the $$$ towards our meal and we were going to spend the $$$ anyway, so why not?

Does anyone know if you can use two rewards at once. I would have the initial membership reward and a birthday reward.

I looked through the FAQs and terms/conditions, and I *think* so, but they don't state it outright. They answer a question about if you can use one *first*, and the answer is that they are put onto the bill in the order they were put onto your account. And they say that rewards are used in increments of $25. But they don't state outright that you can or cannot use them together. I would contact them and ask.

Yes I read that too. I am going to call. Makes complete sense to me to get the card since my birthday is in July and that is when we are going. I will check back to the thread when I get the answer (or at least what they tell me!)

YES! We just ate there this past Sunday. They asked me if I was a Landry member and was placed on a different line and got in within 5 minutes. We showed up a few hours early from our scheduled ressie I made directly with the restaurant. There was a huge line and got right in!!! Join the select club especially if you have a birthday around the time you are visiting! We used our initial reward and a birthday reward at the the same time and the bill was credited $50 bucks!

Wow! Thanks for sharing your experience.

Just called and was told that I could use both rewards and seems the PP had the same experience. Great to know!

Sounds good! I assume that the membership could be used towards Rainforest Cafe as well?

Yes and also Yak Yeti! Remember that the whole reward must be spent at once. If you have a $25 reward and only spend $20 on food you can't bank the other $5. You can decide not to use it if you don't spend enough (defer). I don't know for sure that you can use both. But I am thinking you can. Why not?! But as someone said call and ask to be sure! You can tell them (or go online) and defer your reward. But the birthday one expires 15 days into the month following your birthday month.
