that involved much traveling ? do you take it easy or jump right in ? (inspired by wvjules thread)

I jump right in but usually dont hit my stride to the next day, but I dont do anything until in room, unpack and unwind

I always have to unpack too. I hate that about me! :rotfl2: I jump right in - as long as I am unpacked first!

I have to unpack before my vacation can begin. Its usually a quick process to unpack. With DVC villas I pack fewer clothes than we need, and just do laundry at night while my DH and the kids unwind.
Once we're unpacked, we head right out to a park, downtown disney, or a pool, depending on how late we've arrive.

Depends on where I am and what the weather is like. If it's hot, sunny weather I throw the luggage in the room, grab my suit and book and head for the pool. If it's colder weather, I take the time to unpack. See...willy nilly:lmao:

I unpack and get everything organized, THEN I can relax and enjoy myself because I will know where everything is when everyone asks me for something! I usually don't feel like I'm on vacation until I wake up there the next morning...

At WDW, we don't have our luggage, so we check in, go to the bathroom, change clothes (carry on), and head to the Magic Kingdom. We always eat at Liberty Tree our first night. I unpack when we get back.

Camping- unpack and set up camp before anything fun.

Beach (condo)- unpack, swim, then groceries... Usually it's a late night run to Walmart bc we are starving yet don't want to travel another mile!

Anywhere that we consider a "real" vacation basically takes a full day's air travel from here. We cruise alot so usually we land in our port city the afternoon/evening before and don't have much opportunity to do anything except maybe have dinner. (We had a FABULOUS meal at a nightspot called Mangos in San Juan last year. :goodvibes)

When we do Disney we always try to do a character meal on our first evening if at all possible - it's a great way to set the tone and get everybody excited to hit the ground running on Morning #2!

Suitcases on the floor in bedrooms; bathing suit on, grab beach towel, book and sunglasses. Walk out the door and on to the beach. Unpacking happens the next day after another trip to the beach and tea at sunrise. Then I go to the grocery. 1st night's meal is pizza-delivered.

well anit you the party animal

We really don't "unpack" our stuff on any trip, except for toiletries. We live out of our suitcases for the most part. We travel a lot (mostly to visit family), so I am very good at packing suitcases in a way that our clothes don't get very wrinkled. We just hang our clothes for the day in the bathroom and the steam from showering takes out any wrinkles. For long trips, I will pack a few days worth of clothes in each suitcase and we will use just that one suitcase until we need the next one. I am a very organized traveler. If only I could be that organized when we are just at home. :rotfl2:

When we travel cross country, we usually just take it easy that first day. Unpack, have a nice dinner and go to bed early to get a jump on the next day.

Depends on the trip. If it's to see family then we start in with whatever is planned. If it is a trip like Disney or other destination, I like to get everything organized in the room and if we have driven, DH always fills up and gets the car washed after we've unloaded. It works well for us.

I don't unpack on vacations either. We live out of our suitcases. We usually go right out and scope out the area, have a nice dinner, etc.

We never unpack- just take things out of the suitcase as we want to wear them!

I usually arrive well before room check in time, leave my bag with the bell boys and off I go. They call me when my room is ready. It's amazing what a nice tip and a smile and compliment to the girls at the front desk can accomplish.

Us too. As for the question, depends if it is a destination type trip, or a road trip with multiple stops. If a destination, usually a trip to the grocery store and a pizza (sit down or takeout), then the pool or beach for the remainder of the night.

Depends where we are and how long we are staying as to whether I completely unpack or not.:thumbsup2

Always unpack first, and then we gogogogo! I hate vacations where you just lay around on a beach or whatever-I like "doing" vacations.

I took my then fiancé on her first real vacation ever - a road trip to CO to meet my sister. She had never before in her life had a chance to sleep past 7:00 am. So, she wanted to sleep in a lot. Additionally, her normal morning routine was to spend 2.5 hours very slowly getting ready in the morning. Day two of our road trip, we didn't leave town until 11:30! I thought I was going to go insane :rotfl2:

The beach also bores me to tears (DW LOVES the beach), although it became much more fun once we had small kids :)
