After the first night staying @ Disney my daughter had a few bites, I didn't think anything of it. Now they got like white in middle/red arounda seem to be getting worse. One on shoulder, 4-5 on legs.
Anybody ever have this happen? I thought maybe bed bugs or a spider. She slept in a pack n play that was stored in closet @ okw.

From the sound of your description it sounds like a fire ant bite.

Agree with YCFAN, sounds like fire ant bite. I've had a few myself when I lived in Fla. The give away is the white in the middle.

I had these when we were in Disney in September. I had no idea what they were they were terribly itchy and I had them all over my feet and ankles. I still have no idea who in the world I would have gotten them? :confused3 your poor sweet girl. Maybe try some topical anti itch cream if she is old enough.

Thanks everybody.

The initial bite was a week ago- they didn't get white in the middle or red around till we got home. She was a little crankier than normal @ Disney, I just thought it was b/c she isn't used to the schedule. So, who knows if they are actually bothering her.

They do resemble the fire ant bites tho! Thankfully we only got 5-6. I'm going to call pediatrician today to see what they say to do.

could be bedbug bites, you would have to be rolling about the ground to get fire ant bites

Are they round? I got ringworm on my arm one time at WDW. I thought it was a bite at first but then the red ring started growing. It tooks months to get rid of it, it grew to the size of a half dollar. The doctor tried different creams, finally had to get a biopsy to confirm fungus and then took pills to get rid of it. I swear I got it from having my arm wrapped around a pole standing on a bus.

My initial thought was bed bug bites. I got bed bug bites one time while on vacation and they were primarily on my legs/feet but I did find a few on my arms.

That is the worst! I wouldn't doubt it came from that pole. When you think about it, do they ever clean those poles? :confused3 I got ring worm from a tanning bed many years back. It started out noticeably ring worm though, it never resembled bites for me.

Not ringworm! They don't itch / burn. The dr said to put hydrocortisone on. They were mostly concerned of her being around ticks- they said if it gets worse bring her in but for now they are saying probably an allergic reaction to some bug bite

ow, I got fire ant bites once in Ft. lauderdale, standing on the beach path waiting in line at a kiosk to get a drink. I felt something on my feet, and looked down and their were fire ants all over the pathway and my feet. ouch. They really hurt, and my feet were so painful and swollen from the bites, i could barely wear flip flops. And i wasn't rolling around the ground to get them lol!! I used hydrocortisone cream, took benedryl, anything i could find to help. I feel sorry if it is fire ant bites. Poor thing.

I grew up in Fort Lauderdale never got a fire ant bite, red ants yes (they aren't as red as a fire ant and they have a black bottom). We moved to GA one year and my then DD6 was outside helping her dad with yard work and she started screaming, she was standing on a fire ant hill my DH grab her laid her in a safe spot and pull her jeans off. Lol (it's funny now) I'd never seen him move so fast. Thankfully she only suffered a couple of bites and wasn't allergic, thanks to his fast reaction.

Nope, you do not have to be rolling around on the ground to get ant bites on your leg. Just last summer I did not notice an ant mound and stepped on it while walking, DW mentioned it but since it was just a quick step and I did not even stop I blew it off. Well, less then a minute later I am kicking my flip flop off and hopping on one foot trying to get the ants off my foot, ankle and a couple reached my calf. I had bites between my toes and on my ankle, and during my hopping session the DW is just laughing away. Also, when I went to get my flip flop, which traveled about 10 feet, there were still some ants on it. I am going to show my age here, but if the movie "Them" ever became true I am living on a house boat:rotfl2:

Lived in South FL for many years and had gotten bit up by fire ants just by walking in a parking lot! You'd be surprised...they nest in the grassy medians and they trail to places and many times they blend in with the ground, etc.

When my dd was little she'd get bit by the flying ants, ick and she'd swell up from them. There was one time that I had to take her to the doctor to get a prescription topical cream for the swelling. Otherwise we used the benedryl or hydrocortisone creams (she swells from mosquitoes too and sometimes I do as well).

In Florida we have "no see ums", they are usually around brackish water, if you are allergic to them, the bites will last over a week.
