WBPC May 6th 2013 Wonder

Funny how so many of us received just the opposite of what we would have picked. We got 5650 the so called "Barb and Tony suite"... It is not a suite but this couple have stayed in the room some 40 times+. We really wanted as far forward as we could get and now we are as far aft as you can get. Oh we'll beggars can't be choosers ;-)

Same for us, but with the connecting doors. We would have loved to get a connecting door between our rooms, but nope, no luck, these were given to others that don't want/need them. Agree, beggars can't be choosers though. Just happy that we will be on the Wonder in 11 days  pirate::banana:

Hello everyone! This is my first time posting on the WBPC thread. I can't wait until May 6th. I thought I would throw out this idea to see if anyone is interested. I am a graduate student and I am always interested in learning new things! I compare results from earth based studies to data brought back by Mars orbiters and the Mars rovers. I also know quite a bit about the Opportunity and Curiousity rovers. I would love to share/discuss my research if anyone is interested and it would be great to hear about other topics! I can't wait to hang out with Mickey and the gang!

:: uncrosses fingers long enough to type a message :: Good luck!

FYI - for those who had GoinPlaces63 (aka Anne & Richard) on their FE list and have anything special (personalized/specific to this cruise) for them - I think Scott and I will have enough room in our luggage to be able to bring some back with us, since we live fairly close & are planning to meet up after the cruise. We're also delivering a couple of gifts from them to the groups they were in.

Please make sure to mark your items appropriately, so we don't get confused about which gifts are for us and which are for them! We're on the group 6 list - cabin 6628.

That's very nice of you. I think it will help lift his spirit if they can open some gifts from us. Thanks :flower3:

I'd be interested in a chat - we're trying to organize a star-watching night & sounds like you might be a good resource!

:upsidedow:):upsidedow:) I am not necessarily overjoyed with our cabin assignment, but I remind myself..."WBPC for 60% off, 60% off, 60% off, 60% off"...:upsidedow:):upsidedow:)

As my girls told me this morning... only 11 more sleeps 'til embarkation

Tracey, this is awesome...I'll drop something at your door for them! Thank you for doing this.

can anyone make me feel better about deck 2 foreward?

I liked deck 2 for the convenience to the lobby and MDR, and the elevators were almost always empty when I needed to go to BBB or the spa. I did find it rather crowded as there are a lot of cabins, but you might not have that problem as just this week there were all the "9" cabins available (although all gone again), and there are a lot of inside cabins available on deck 2. If there is availability on this cruise, I think it will be on deck 2 so you may have empty neighboring cabins and your hosts may have more time for you.

First of all...WELCOME! Make sure you check out the first page of this thread to find out all that is going on. If you could make it to the meet the first day, it would help to know who is who. My dad is sailing with us, and you might find him interesting to talk with. He is/was an aeronautical engineer at Lockheed. He helped design the propulsion units for several of the Apollo missions. Not quite rovers, but I'm sure it could be some interesting conversation.

That's very frustrating how that worked out. We got a connecting door and I'm not using it. I wish I could do something so you'd have the connection. We had one on our last cruise and loved it. I didn't even really go between the rooms but it just made the room feel bigger some how.

It is so amazingly kind of you to be willing to share. I wish I had interest because I can tell that you have a lot of passion for the topic and I love to listen to people who have such great passion but I have no interest in space. I know that seems crazy... My husband thinks I'm nuts (not saying I'm not... :rotfl:)! But I just wanted to say how awesome I think it is that you'd be willing to share your research with us. And even though I am not interested I'm glad you put it out there! :) I will pass this off to my husband though, he might like to hear what you have to say over a beer or something. :)

Okay, I'm feeling productive. I just made our hotel reservations for Miami and SAS shuttle reservations. I think it was that '11 sleeps' post that got me motivated, and realizing that we'd have no where for that last 'sleep' unless I got moving.

Now I just have to get my kids organized for the time I'm gone (tutors, somewhere to sleep, rides to exams, rides to lax try-outs,food, permission letters, money) clean the house, pack, finish the FEs, set up my time sheets for work, do the flight check ins, arrange transportation to LAX...

Nancy, are you leaving your minor children behind? My husband and I are. I find it quite difficult. Everyone says it's for the better but yet I don't feel that way in the short run. :) I mean, I'll be fine but it's a lot of work to get them ready and then it's sad to not talk to them for two weeks.

Yes, they are 16 and 17 and juniors in high school, so there is no way they could travel at this time of year. This trip was booked solely as a 'bucket list' for my mother, who is 77. When the Florida rates came out, it was just too good an opportunity to pass up. Since January we've had to scurry to get a passport for my mother, reservations (still doing that) figure out how I was getting to Miami (rental car or fly), add her cousin to the trip, get the babysitting (for my kids and my father).

The problem is we just moved to Florida a year ago, and have no family here. My kids are each going to stay with friends. Neither drives, but the zone for the school is small and everyone is basically in the same area.

In the last 3 weeks, we've all been sick (so check that off the list, right?), one has finished a play, the other finished lacrosse. While I'm gone, they will have AP exams, end of course exams, and finals start the day I return. One will have tutoring. Just a lot of planning and running around. My brothers, who often come to babysit if I've had to travel, can't during May because it is the busy season for their businesses.

So I'm just going with a little faith that it will all work out. I'm looking into paying for International calling and texting, not that there is anything I could do about anything. They are both good students so I think they will do the required studying, but one is staying with a friend who is not a serious student. And what if one were to asked to the PROM (which you know could happen next week and then I'd have to arrange for all that before I leave!)

Don't feel sorry for them. One just went to Paris and Normandy for spring break and the other is traveling every weekend in June for lacrosse tournaments - my vacation is the cheapest of the three of us!

But yes, a lot of odds and ends. I have a long list.

That would be my husband. He HANGS on every word of the rocket launches while I just wish it would be over so I could go back to what I was doing.

GOOD for Your mom! But I must say, Nancy - your list makes me feel . . . TIRED!

We got an offer on our house today:dance3:

Well I keep thinking if I don't write it then it won't be so but alas I have concluded that's not going to work. I got news today that I will be under going emergency eye surgery on Saturday to reattach my retina and repair a retina tear also. After boo hooing about it all day I'm sad to say the Fosbinders will be canceling our trip. :( I begged and pleaded to no avail for postponement but dr said NO! Can I have a miracle please ... I so want to go.

Welcome:cheer2:
