If we rebook as a room only for 8/31 and 9/1 in the same category and change our package to 9/2 - 9/8, what are the chances we will be able to stay in the same room for the entire trip?

Fairly good to be honest; they have this happen quite a lot around the start and end of special offer periods and are used to trying to keep follow-on reservations in the same rooms if possible.

Hellooooo, anyone know?:confused3

I didn't use a ta but I got my extra tags in aporoximately 5 days. They actually seny me new vouchers and an extra set so now I have 12 tags instead of 8 (we get 2 free bags each and while I doubt I would bring 8 we might bring an almost empty one for the things we buy there).

You can always just use ice from the ice machines at your resort. Brings a box of Zip lock bags and you're set!

that is an option but the trouble with ice in a bag is it melts and can end up being a mess.:rolleyes1 Plus my gel ice pack is more comfortable.:)
Thanks for your advice.

You could always buy some of the Icy Hot patches that adhere to the skin. No mess, and no cooling needed. I don't know if they will do the trick for you, but they've helped me in the past when I was not in a position to use an icepack or gel pack.

This will be our 1st time staying at POR......Can anyone give me any ideas as to which buildings I should request?? We are a family of 5 and would prefer close to the main building(s) and bus stop(s). Thanks so much :):)

Hi Everyone! We are going to POR for the first time and staying in a royal room!! Reading this thread has made us even more excited...if possible! I had a question about mailing stuff down prior. I did read the sticky and I know not to use the US postal service and saw the address to send it to. But I was curious if anyone has done this before and if it was as easy as it seems. We will have diapers, wipes, formula and all the stuff that comes along with a 3 year old and an infant (who will be turning 1 while we are there). Has anyone come across any issues?? It seems well worth it to us but want to be sure.

Hi Jodi,

I have shipped things down many times and would continue to do so when needed. We had one small problem one time, our package had been delivered to the sister resort. During the time the package was missing the resort was wonderful and helped us out all ways that they could. With that said, I would make sure you have enough of everything you need just in case something does go wrong. Also, make sure you bring the tracking information with you.

The first post in this thread, referenced in the thread title, gives a lot of great information and a link to www.portorleans.org where you can see an interactive resort layout map.

Wooohoooo and Welcome Home. Thank you both for your service to our country! Disney is a great way to celebrate his safe return. Enjoy your time!

I asked earlier about freezers in the the refridge in the rooms. Someone was kind enough to post a pic of a refridge and it did not have a freezer in it.
I was wondering if I could get ice or an ice pack anywhere at the resort?
I pulled my back out 3 weeks ago and need to ice it. Planned on bringing a gel ice pack with me but not sure what my options are on how to freeze it?

Thank you
Michelle

They have those ice packs (at target is where i got mine) that dont get cold until you smash them. They are the same size as regular ice packs so are very conveniant and flexible. Check them out :)

oh I didn't know they sold them there. I will have to get over there. Thanks for the suggestion, I like that option better.:goodvibes

:welcome:

Just wanted to say welcome to all the newbies to this thread. It seems like we have a lot of people getting ready for POR. Heading over to the date thread to see if anyone new is going when I am.

That is true. I bet that if you asked at the front desk they would find a place for you to keep them frozen. You could also call ahead to the parks you're visiting, to First Aid and see if they would keep some frozen there for you as well. It's been a very long time since I worked for Disney but the nurses at First Aid were always very accommodating. Many people have to keep medicines (like insulin) cold. Anyway, I'd encourage you to make a call to first aid to see what they might recommend. Nothing worse than a painful back!

BTW, as an encouragement: I once came down with a toothache during a trip to WDW (ended up having to have it pulled). But in spite of the pain, I had a wonderful time, and barely remember the pain part of it now.

Completely random question - does anyone know how much sunscreen costs if bought in the gift shop? :confused3

I've just updated my floorplan layout maps for the two Royal Room buildings (Oak Manor and Parterre Place). Only relatively minor changes, but several (15) of the rooms which were originally classified as River View - but which had slightly oblique, courtyard-facing views of the river - have recently been reclassified to Garden View category, and the map now reflects that. The breakdown table has also been updated to match.

See www.portorleans.org/images/buildingmaps/Floorplan-POR-MagnoliaBend.pdf.

Figure what it normally costs at your own local store plus 40 percent more.
