Okay, so I'm getting married August 10th. We are doing a Disneymoon, have 2 weeks set aside...

I THOUGHT I knew what I wanted to do in those two weeks...which was Sunday through Thursday on the Dream, a few days in Orlando at USF and SW and Monday through Sat at WDW, resort undecided, but have Coronado booked with Deluxe Dining Plan.

Now, we have debated about different B2B options, driving to Miami for the Fantasy, basically we have contemplated every combination.

I have been to Disney a gazillion times and have sisters that are cast members at DL at WDW...so it's not like I haven't done anything...I guess my dilemma is that I always WANTED to honeymoon at WDW and dreamt about it and am so excited about it...but the cruise just seems so much more honeymooney and fun....and yes we can do both, but 4 nights on the dream doesn't seem like enough...

ALSO, we have a budget around 8 or 9k...also, keep in mind that the ONLY registry we are doing is Disney gift cards and help with the honeymoon...so that may increase easily (never been married before so I'm not sure if people will even abide by this)

Right now, we only have the 4 night booked on the Dream in a Navigator's Verandah (7A, verandah guaranteed) and its about 2400...would you rather do a B2B or a few days in Orlando doing SW, IoA, and USf (never been to any and FDH is a huge Marvel fan)....if we do the B2B, would you consider upgrading to the family oceanview verandah concierge for the second half of the honeymoon cruse (2800 versus 1900 in the same room for the 3 day)...

This would obviously mean a value resort at WDW....I just hate not knowing how much we will get with our registry...we KNOW we want to do stuff in the spa, we just have no idea if we will get to do certain excursions and stuff. And on my honeymoon, the Deluxe DP at WDW just fits so much better as our itinerary would be very different than my usual...lots of dining, shows, taking it easy...

So I have made this more difficult for myself by typing it out...I know the obvious answer is " B2B and the 5 days at WDW!" but its extremely expensive...definitely doable if our wedding guests adhere to our registry...but if they don't...we'd have a big issue....

Last question: if we played it by ear...can you book the 2nd half of your B2B onboard the first? Has anyone ever booked one within a week of sailing?

We are still in the window to cancel anything and everything and rearrange if needed.... I'm thinking about canceling the WDW ressies as they begin Aug 19 and will be in the super low value rates no matter what....

Okay, guys...advice! What would you do with this budget and this time period if you had your honeymoon from August 10-24? And yes, most people off the DISboard's answer has been "Stay far away from Orlando!" but for me...it's gotta be Disney...(yet it does make me sick sometimes that for half of what we are doing at Disney I could have a private villa on a tropical island with my own pool and butler....and I cant even get a hot breakfast delivered on my honeymoon...LOL)

We also haven't booked flights yet as we are discussing driving and using the airfare savings to justify upgrading to concierge if we add on the 3 day...2800 for it is just one of the lowest ive ever seen and its hard to pass up.

Okay enough chit chat...feel free to ask me any clarifying questions....I'm split so many ways and I NEED YOU TO HELP ME MAKE MY DECISION!!

My vote would be to look at a Fantasy sailing at the same time as your Dream back to back to compare costs. It also leaves out of Port Canaveral and I prefer a 7 night cruise to the 4/3 combo (you get 7 different menus with no repeats, more sea days which is important if you want Palo for brunch and much better ports).

Instead of looking at concierge, I'd just bring my own wine and liquor on board, splurge on spa treatments and preorder stuff for your cabin (like the decorations).

I'd also like to add that the reason I am having trouble letting WDW go is that that August 19th week will be hot yes, but the crowds will have dwindled significantly...and FDH hasn't been there in 15 years and I am dying to share so much with him...

We can basically do any combination at this point...and add or remove anything.....Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, WDW, USF, IoA, SW....waterparks.....

the only thing we CANT do is a B2B Disney Fantasy as it leaves on Saturday and we are getting married that night :) but that was my first thought!! It would also be impossible to do a B2B Dream and then Fantasy for that same reason....plus if we were adding the Fantasy, I don't think i'd need a B2B dream... but just spending Thursday and Friday in the parks doesn't seem like enough and even those two days will be more crowded than the next week bc of school closings.

Also, I need to add that I have been on 3 cruises but not DCL: 2x Carnival and 1x the Big Red Boat/ Premier.....FDH has never cruised before and he is very excited for every possible leg but spends 90 percent of his honeymoon research time looking at pictures of the Dream. And yes, he's a big Star Wars fan and Marvel Comics fan...but my internal dialogue has been debating about whether my love of princesses and fairies and his love for those are just weak enough to do NOT do a full five days or more....

I also always liked the idea of a WDW honeymoon as its an actual place to return with kids several times and remember it....but so is the Dream or Fantasy..and like I said in the original post....is it just me or do they seem more honeymooney than WDW? Maybe I have just never been on that "side" of WDW but since we are cruising first, I worry that the first time I'm walking through a gaggle of people at Animal Kingdom and sweating like a nasty pig, I will want to give my right arm to be back on the Dream....and as much as I'd like to do the Dream last for that reason, I remember how the Aug 10 week and the Aug 17 week at WDW are one of the most significant two week differences in crowds and prices....it's a huge dropoff...I DON'T want to do Disney before August 18th!!

Okay, so after that added info....trying to think of more possibilities....B2B on the Dream, WDW Sun, Mon, Tues, Wed, then back on the Dream? LOL...those of you that have done B2Bs2Bs...would we be sick of it?? Am I wasting a lot of money doing that versus a 4 night Dream and 7 night fantasy or just a 7 night fantasy? (I guess it'll help to know if I can book one for the next sailing OB)....

Okay, I'm shutting up now. This is the worst decision ever. Everyone put your TA hats on.

I agree with PP recommendation. For us, we prefer the 7 day vs. the shorter cruises and you won't be repeating things on the cruise. Also, the 7 day seems much more relaxing.

I have mentioned the Fantasy as a possibility....but in all actuality, it's a worst case scenario since it's a Saturday through Saturday cruise. Couldn't leave on the 10th due to the wedding...and we COULD do the 17th thru the 24th but that basically takes out the whole week of super low rates at WDW that was going to make doing both the park and the cruise and going for two weeks total within our ability.

I wish I could :( It just doesn't really work at all considering we would pay Premium WDW prices and deal with hot stuffy crowds....and I would have a hard time letting WDW go COMPLETELY...

Then I would stick with the 4 night Dream and then WDW and everything else. I think you'll get a lot more bang for your buck at WDW for $1900 than the 3 night cruise.

If I had $9K, I would keep the August 11, 2013 7A with the 4 Day Dream ($2,400). That would get you off the ship on the morning of the 15th. I would book two nights at WDW and go to the parks or what ever for those two days. Limit your budget to around $1,000-$1,400 for the two days. Should be easy enough. On the morning of the 17th, get up and get back to port for the Fantasy 7-night Western, Category 5D ($4,175). You get have 11 days worth or cruising with different ports, talent, menus and still get two days in at WDW, all under the $9K.

Okay adding a few more things about DFH and me because I know these are some of the reasons that make it or break it for people doing a B2B...

we are very meat and potatoes type people....nearly every cruise I go on, I have ordered the NY steak every night....I have a lot of food issues and I just stick to the same stuff. DFH is a bit more adventurous but if this tells you anything, we are booking Remy strictly for the kobe beef. We are steak, potatoes, and coke people.... new menus aren't a big deal to us...and we are doing both Palo and Remy so that's 5...

Also, I'm not a big port person. I have MAYBE gotten off at half of the ports I've been to....CC is obviously worth going to back to back but if we even get off the boat in Nassau, it would be for maybe one excursion for the fiancé and then back on the boat. We travel A LOT to all inclusive resorts in the Carribean and really have no interest in seeing anything but the resort beaches we go to, lol (I know that sounds awful, but the ports I've ever wanted to visit like Roatan and N.O. and Cabo, I have already had the opportunity to do...

And on the Fantasy's Eastern and Western itineraries alike, we have stayed in all but 2 of the ports and I have been to all the ports but 1...so it could be a cruise to nowhere and we wouldn't care, lol.

If there is room on the next cruise, you could book it onboard. If you see a *GT rate pop up before then, I would grab that though.

I would recommend the Dream/WDW/Fantasy combination, though not necessarily get a 5D to drop the price to allow for tips/spa treatments.

I don't have any advice on longer vs. shorter cruises. I think one day on a DCL ship is better than none and you will have a nice time on either one. As for your budget I would strongly recommend you stay within what you can afford and plan on $0 as wedding gifts in the form of Disney gift cards. Will you get some as a gift? More than likely but planning around money you might or might not have is going to set you up for disappointment in the end. If you stay within your own budget any gift card you receive as a present will be a huge bonus. Depending on how much the gift cards come to you can then use it to upgrade rooms, add on services and other things.

Also is going in September an option at all? DCL prices are lower, WDW is offering free dining (usually), and the crowds are lower. In my experience. When DH and I were married we waited a month between the wedding and honeymoon. Married in Aug, and vacationed in Sept. There were many benefits to doing this. 1. We had another month of paychecks to pay for extras. 2. We were able to tie up loose ends with the wedding, such as thank you notes, ordering pictures, resting from the exhaustion the last few weeks leading up to a wedding causes, and about 100 other things you don't think about. 3. Planning a wedding is time consuming as is planning a trip. Breaking the two up to be a month apart allowed me to focus on one thing at a time. 4. The best part, we weren't rushed the night of, or the day after the wedding to hurry up and do all of these things because we had a plane to catch. 5. As I've said already, it's cheaper to vacation in Sept. than it is in Aug. Meaning you have more funds available to do the things you normally wouldn't.

Either way have a great time and congrats. :goodvibes

Thank you so much! I have been trying to research if its better to do a last minute ressy on board or to take a GT if I see it and have gotten mixed ideas! Since Florida schools will be back in session, and there are essentially 2 more cruises we could do if the 3 night right after our 4 night is booked, it would be very difficult to see all of those ships being sold...as of right now, mid August has about double the rooms available than just the sailing or two before it...and my sister (CM at WDW) was looking the other day and said that my current sailing has a ton of availability left and that the 3 night after ours is even more open (probably why the concierge rate is so low!)

I've convinced myself that the concierge isn't worth it...especially since we aren't planning anything or even doing excursions...

in my mind, I feel like the money to sail 3 days with concierge would be much better spent at WDW at beach club or boardwalk instead of a value or mod...

We would obviously love the convenience of straight B2B, but would be willing to go to Disney in between sailings....

I have just heard "meh" things about Disney "very very very " last minute bookings...

Would anyone here leave it up to fate and just keep the Dream booking, check once we are on board to see what the rates are for the next sailings and book another sailing or two if its worth it and if it's not or if it's full, just head on to Disney and buy everything on the spot there?

I'm too Type B sometimes

Just a penny for your thoughts... DH and I got married 11 years ago. I was dying to show him around where my family vacationed several times so we decided to go there on our honeymoon. Looking back, this was a BIG mistake!! Sure it would have been a cool vacation, but I wish we would have had a different honeymoon destination that became OUR place. Maybe this is just me and maybe WDW makes the situation different since we just went to the beach, but something to keep in mind.

You can request the steak and potatoes each night. On one of our recent cruises, the DW and I looked at the menu for the next night every night. We often ordered steak, potatoes and asperigus. Just let them know the night before and it is fine. I still would recommend the 4-day followed by the 2 day parks and then the 7-day. I know you have been to the destinations but it would give you 11 days of different stuff to do on the ships, if you decide not to get off in port.

To answer one of your previous questions, you can wait till you are on board and book the following cruise IF they have openings to do the B2B. But again you would have the same shows, same games, same Nassau. But it can happen. I thought about doing that and almost did, but was all the way through the process when we decided not to stay on board. I would rather have a plan going in than to do that. IMHO

I would not forget your dream of at least a day or two running around the parks with those adorable newlywed ears on. Doesn't have to be a huge part of it, and if you have seen so much, just hit your favorites, no need to wear yourself out.

A 7 day DCL and a few WDW days would be the Disney Dreamer's honeymoon of a lifetime. There are nice things like Raglan Road to do on land at night as well.

I love it all. That's my vote, if it counts!

Who doesn't think EPCOT or MK at night with the gorgeous lights isn't beautiful and romantic? The cruise it great. But it's a ship. It's still great, but you can ony walk around it a few times and go up on deck so much. Experience both and what you love together.

I just really like land and sea! (Not like a full week of land, unless you want to, but at least a little!) And a 7 Day DCL sounds great! (As much as I loved my 3 day + 1 Land day, I know you will have an amazing honeymoon.)

Oh yeah. It's your honeymoon. Don't chock it soooo full of stuff. Have a nice time relaxing together too!

TBH, the budget really isn't that big of a deal for us....I know it sounds bad and I hate saying it, but fiancé got a huge promotion last year (he's a software engineer) and he put aside 5 digits for it...so it's really not a huge deal at all....I just don't want to be so extravagant that I look back and regret spending so much. And as for the Disney gift cards, we have a wedding of almost 400 people and with it being the only thing on the registry and Disney's registry as well (I forgot about that and just looked and have over 1,000 dollars in gifts for the cruise and WDW), I know that it will be there...it's just weird knowing there's that tinnnny little chance that no one gets you a wedding gift...LOL.

So to be honest, we aren't really planning around money...we are more so "planning around a two week schedule that doesn't make us feel like huge money wasters and start off our marriage feeling crappy about spending money that we didn't feel was worth it".... We actually looked at non-Disney honeymoons and almost booked one for 16,000...so it's not a big deal at all, I'm just trying to be a good wife and find some savings SOMEWHERE so I can say "here, here, look!" hahaha, just kidding :)

September isn't an option as I am in grad school. My CM sisters, both on WDW and DL sites, said that Disney is really pushing the 18th of August this year as not being a drop off in sales so they said they would be shocked if the fall deal buster didn't affect me...and TBH, the rates are so nice then that it doesn't matter if it does. We also have each day of dining on our registry, and so far we have 5 days of deluxe dining bought for us (and if we don't go to WDW, it'll be transferable)

We also nearly always vacation in September but are only taking a 4 day one this year because of our long honeymoon in August...we are going to St. Lucia then....but because I'm a graduate student, I just really don't want to do part of my honeymoon during the school year especially because I'm a therapist and wouldn't be able to be reached for a long amount of time... I would just be way too stressed to enjoy it. And I'm off the entire summer (yay!) with no work or school at all to plan the wedding and relax and go to Yosemite in July, and the fairy tale castle we are getting married in had one available date between 2013 and 2015 and it is August 10th :) I also start school back on Labor Day so the timing is just too perfect for us to try to do anything else unfortunately :(

But we travel a lot so we could technically still be celebrating when we are in St. Lucia in September and in Bora Bora in November! I was also shocked the last couple of years in September about how much more crowded it's gotten since they started hitting them hard with the dining deals... both sisters used to work at WDW at the same time and they said that it wasn't until November that they realized the summer was over because of the September deals running into the MNSSHP and then they had a nice three weeks then HOLIDAYS! .... There used to be "amazing" times to go to WDW, but now it seems like it's crowded whenever. Maybe I just changed my mind after talking to them...the sister that works at DL now said when she worked at Magic Kingdom, she compared queue lines over the course of a year, every day at the same time outside of her building and at 2:00, it was the worst at Christmas and New Years, but on the lowest attendance day of the year, it was only 20 minutes shorter at 2:00.
As long as I get the nice prices and I'm out of there by December 20th and not taken there before January 2nd, I'm fine...I just only get one WDW honeymoon...

and so rides aren't really my worry....it's dining. So going when there's free dining would be a nightmare as I've always had issues changing ressys when those are going on...as of now, I have every restaurant I want from the 19th-24th so that's a huge thing too..

I don't have any advice on longer vs. shorter cruises. I think one day on a DCL ship is better than none and you will have a nice time on either one. Love the suggestion....would you still suggest it knowing that

a) we order the same thing basically every night anyway
b) we won't get off for the ports as we have been to all of them
c) we already have very hard to get ressys for the 2nd week at WDW...
d) we are cruising mainly for the boat and experience...so if we aren't getting off at the ports and don't care about the menus, would it really be worth it to drive 3 hours for a ship that has a few differences but is essentially the same?

Thank you so much for your post...as I had considered the Fantasy more and more but realized the above points as well....

You get have 11 days worth or cruising with different ports, talent, menus and still get two days in at WDW, all under the $9K.

Then I would stick with the 4 night Dream and then WDW and everything else. I think you'll get a lot more bang for your buck at WDW for $1900 than the 3 night cruise.

I agree about WDW. And even more bang spending 3-4 night offsite and getting a flex pass to Universal and Sea World....

That's exactly my dream combo, like others have suggested!! I just don't know if I want to only spend 2 days at Disney at what is still considered "summer days" at the high rates and then drive 3 hours to Miami to board a ship that's exactly like the one I just got off of essentially considering that we could care less about the ports...like a B2B on the Dream and a 7 night on the Fantasy are virtually the same to us...we like CC but we've been everywhere else...might as well be driving 3 hours for a cruise to nowhere that I could get an hour away :-/

If there is room on the next cruise, you could book it onboard. If you see a *GT rate pop up before then, I would grab that though.

I would recommend the Dream/WDW/Fantasy combination, though not necessarily get a 5D to drop the price to allow for tips/spa treatments.

If I could spend 11 days on 2 different Disney Ships I would do it in a heartbeat. I'm not a port person either and would still prefer 7 days on the Fantasy. There is always meat and potatoes on the menu and BELIEVE ME, if you want to eat the exact same thing every night the servers will make damned sure you do. =)
I have an obsession with mashed potatoes and even though it was on the menu only once on my last cruise, our server had mashed potatoes for me every night. They are fantastic!
