I am traveling to Disneyworld at the end of june and staying at the Art of Animation resort! I am very excited about the new fastpass system and was wondering if anyone has used it yet or knows when you can start booking fastpass's. I want to make sure I can participate in it.

Too early to say.

So far only testing is being done. Being a guinea pig is luck of the draw.

Once they went to the Magical Express welcoming area (at Orlando Int'l Airport) to get a number of (newly arriving) guests to try out FP+.

They have opened an on line reservation system for FP+ on a few occasions but sometimes it did not work properly and some guests did not find out until they got to the ride that the system did not work properly.

It isn't operational yet and doesn't appear to be close to ready yet. Disney is still working out the problems. No one knows when it will be ready. :)

The last test (that included the public) lasted less than a day in February. Since then, the rollout has ground to a halt and Disney started converting annual passes to RFID. Those RFID cards have a magnetic strip on them so they can be used with the current FP system, so that would indicate the changeover to FP+ isn't imminent.

Athough you did get your question answered, it would've been a better fit in the Theme Park Attractions and Strategies board.

I am glad it was posted here.... I only go to the Transportation Board and I had not heard of Fastpass Plus....... I did some searching and found out something new today!

Looks like an interesting concept..... especially for those that like to plan ahead...

Well then, aren't you the loyal little scout!!!

Yep, I can't tell you the last time I went to any other board on the DIS. There's something about transportation that I like........ go figure....

I miss Bavaria here, but then again, she and I talk regularly via email.

Ok, help me here, please. What is RFID?

Radio-frequency identification. Disney first started using RFID in the resort Keys to the World card, so instead of putting the card in the scanner on your door lock, you just tapped the card on the sensor to unlock the door.

They've moved onto RFID tickets, where you just wave to ticket over a scanner at the turnstile to enter the parks.

The bigger part of this new system will be the RFID MagicBands that you can wear on your wrist.

I do enjoy her 'observations'!!! But miss her witty banter here.
Man, talk about off-topic.....FP+?? Oh well. I guess we can wonder how best to get to the FP machines!!

Thank you, I love that. No more bio scan with an AP? If so, that could lead to folks using someone else's pass.

I don't think the AP holders are included yet. We can turn our regular APs in and get APs with the RFID imbedded in it, but it's still a regular pass and probably has to go through the scanner as before.
But, I do think we can get the bracelets for regular stuff.
