Does anyone happen to remember what the discounts were at BLT this past Feb (not President's Day)? Specifically looking for 1BR? Were all categories discounted?

I am trying to decide if I want to change my BLV room to a TPV room, but not sure if they were included in the discounts this past year.

Thanks in advance for any information :goodvibes

Started booking with CR, switched, switched again, switched again and now I'm back full circle with a garden view room for September...

My question is on the picture of the waterside I saw in pictures a page ago..are those just for the DVC resort or can CR guests use that? We stayed at CR 8 years ago but I do not remember that slide...I love water slides and hoped it might be possible to go to??

For both of the moms that have sons with gagging issues, the post about the monorail stopping the gagging got me thinking...have you ever tried letting your son watch home videos from your trip when the gagging starts? Maybe watching the videos will help him remember the joy of the trip and relieve the stress he is feeling, especially when it's time to leave. Just a thought.

Thats a really good idea. I am going to try that. Thank you for thinking of it!

I don't recall, but maybe the MouseSavers historic discounts link might help you:

http://www.mousesavers.com/historical-information-on-walt-disney-world-resort-discounts/#rack

Usually, particular views haven't been excluded from Deluxe resort discounts (though available quantities do vary), however, recently some resort discounts will vary and are no longer all the same.

Well, welcome back! I believe the slide was a BLT slide which means that you have to be a registered guest at BLT to use the pool which has keyed access. BTW, congratulations on being only 5 pounds within goal:thumbsup2

Great link and thanks much for posting it here! Lots of great photos of the rehab and Deluxe room and one bedroom GW suite. I'll have to post a link on the first page, and give you credit for the link:thumbsup2

Checking back in after a long break :goodvibes: :wave2:

Gotta start planning for the 30th anniversary trip!
Welcome back home! So what are the tentative anniversary plans? Where might you be dining and staying?

KOOK - yeah I have the mousesavers stuffed bookmarked and I know that I got 37% AP disc at CR this past Feb, I just wasn't sure if BLT was being discounted the same. I looked at the summer AP rates and I did see some BLT 1BR at the 35% disc so I am hopeful for Feb ::yes:: I'll hold onto my LV for now and wait and see what rates are when they are announced this summer. Then hold my breath and wait for discounts in October, LOL!!!

Steven told me last night that he really, really, really wants MK view again, so I'll just keep an eye open. I know I couldn't get my tower TPV with the disc until much closer in. But I have already looked at the BLT room thread and figured out if we keep LV we need to be on the north side and hope we can see MK too. Ah, kids and their demands

Question for everyone....we are planning a trip next February and I really want TPV however, we are going with my inlaws and she is not wanting to spend that much (she is really weird about money), she will spend whatever she wants on herself and her vacations but not so much on other people. they have rci membership and could use it at blt but she doesnt want to?! my FIL would use it in a heartbeat and is trying to convince her too.

My questions is this...will I be disappointed in garden wing rooms if we compromise there?! I will say that CR is only an option with discount available. Our kids will be 5,6 and 18 months so I am thinking TPV would be perfect for their ages.

Can they stay in a GW while you stay in the tower? If you have your heart set on TPV then I think you will be disappointed in the GW. We haven't stayed in the GW so I can't honestly answer. But I know my kids would have been disappointed in the GW. They love the tower and I even had a hard sell getting them to agree to BLT next year.

I know probably not what you wanted to hear, but just my honest opinion.

Thanks. I want honest opinions so thank u!

We have only stayed onsite once and it was this past year at the Poly and we loved it! My girls loved seeing the castle from the pool so I think they would love seeing it from their room!

I am not sure how much my inlaws really understand how much there is to do at disney and that we are wanting the convenience of the CR. we will be spending a lot o time at MK.

i am thinking it might be tough to convince her to stay onsite and thought this might be a compromise. To be honest my DH and I only want to stay at deluxe resorts. we like the convenience of it and if we have to take buses to every resort and fold a stroller up we might as well stay at Bonnet Creek. to my mom she thinks I am spoiled. lol. but we like to splurge and I think my older girls are at a great age to stay there

I'm sorry you're having a hard time with your in laws deciding on where to stay. Not that this is what you want to hear, but I agree with babyberger. The GW is a good compromise as being so close to MK is a huge perk, but I think if you have your heart set on a TPV room, you might be disappointed staying in the GW. I always said that if we stayed at the CR, it would definitely be in the tower. I am by no means knocking the GW (especially since we've never stayed at the CR), but for me, the tower is where I would want to be and a TPV would just put the icing on the cake. Good luck and I hope a good discount comes out for your dates making a TPV doable :wizard:.

How long/far is the walk from garden wing to the tower? My biggest concern is filling our refillable mugs. Hubby is a big coffee drinker likes it the moment he wakes, I realize rooms have a coffee maker but the coffee that comes from them is just ehhh! Lol

I'm surprised they wouldn't have put a drink station in the garden wing.

thanks. To be honest I am stunned she is being like this. She has no problem spending money so I am not really sure what her deal is?
maybe I will sit her down with a map and show her where everything is at wdw so she can understand how convenient it will be.
Like I said if we dont stay there it will be offsite and with our 18 month old at time of trip I think onsite would be much easier!!

sorry if this is too much information, but we lost a baby before our third daughter and since then my view on life has changed. it can change in an instant as it did for us and I want to enjoy every minute with our girls. they love it at disney and it truly is a magical place and I want to make some more memories while they still believe in all of it and I think they would love tpv. how do I convince her of that?? My FIL agrees with me by the way!

I'm so sorry for your loss . I do agree that anything can happen in an instant and that there are no guarantees. I would explain to her just what you posted here. You could tell her that not only is the CR convenient to MK via the walkway, but it's also convenient to a variety of dining and shopping options at the GF and Poly via the monorail. Plus the rooms at the CR are among the largest of the deluxe resorts, providing more space for your family of 5. You want to be careful as not to talk her into staying there as that might cause some resentment, but rather try to show her the advantages of spending a little more for the CR vs a cheaper resort or offsite with hopes of her seeing for herself that it is worth it. Good luck.

I'm confused; are they paying for the accommodations? Why can't you stay where you want and them stay where they want? Then, when they see how convenient your room/resort is, it will help make her decision for future travel.

No they aren't paying but it will be easier if we are all together. They said they would watch our girls one night so we could go out together as we never get alone time together and so it would be easier to be together. We all get along great and I am actually closer to her than my own mom. I thought she would be easy to plan this with. If it was my fil he would just give me his cc and I could book. They can book BLT with their points but she won't. Which would be the perfect solution. I think she doesn't want to be immersed in disney all the time but won't say that.

Thanks. I am so surprised she is like this. She is not a penny pincher by any means for herself, drives a Mercedes, golfs, travels etc. but when it comes to spending Money on others she just doesn't do it. But my FIL does. Weird eh? She doesn't buy our girls much and I don't expect her too. But I thought for our one trip to WDW together she would spend the money. Will let u know what happens!

Thanks for your kind words as well :)

Well, we all handle obstacles in out own way, but I wouldn't let it upset me. Regardless of her reason, she doesn't want to. If you start a Disney vacation by forcing people to do something they don't want, I wouldn't expect the trip to go any different.

You have the opportunity and ability to book where you want to, so if you would enjoy it more, book where you want. No reason to try and fit a square peg in a round hole. Just adapt and move on. If it creates a little more hassle dropping the kids off and picking them up after a night out, make changes, adapt and move on.

In my opinion, wasting energy in trying to make people fall in line with what you want to do and see things your way rather than making your situation the best it can possibly be is exhausting.

I hope it all works out for you, but remember, in the end the decision and the outcome of your trip rests with you. Our vacations shouldn't be defined by the the things that happen (good or bad), but rather how we react to them. That's the only thing we can control.
