Oh I also want to mention that we have one of those big walk in handicap bathrooms that leak water everywhere on the floor while showering. Not a huge deal but kind of scary seeing how much water seeps all over the bathroom floor!

Hello from POP! I have been staying here since Saturday with my boyfriend and we are pretty pleased with everything so far. Just a couple days left! We requested a king size bed and in the 50s building/or close to classic hall without a preferred room and we got both requests made. We even have a great view on the third floor, which is poolside, close to Lady. We have been eating at AoA because we like the food selection better and there are slightly more healthy options there. It's so close by and amazing for taking photos too. Although i must say, i am addicted to the Tie dye Cheesecake! I noticed how the POP busses are the furthest down at the bus stops at the parks but its not a huge deal for getting its own bus route in return. We have had rain everyday since we got here and today we finally got to try out the hippy dippy pool and 50's pool too! I heard bad things about the wifi being slow or nonexistent but it's pretty perfect for us!

Thank you for the update/review!!! We will be there in a week.

Hi:cheer2:
Since you are there right now, would you be able to tell me if the kiddie pool is open? We check in on Friday and were really hoping to use it with our son.
Thanks:goodvibes

We leave about a month from today. I made room requests but don't see them online. Should they be listed on the website?

I am thinking about changing our requests. Right now we have requested either Building 3 or 1 (or 60's), ground floor, connecting- in that order. But my mother is traveling with us (different reservation but linked) and I am worried about her mobility. We made the decision not to spring for preferred because the cost was almost $250 more (we are a family of 5 so need two rooms). I wonder if we should choose a different building request based on that in order to increase the chances of getting a building closer to Classic Hall? It looks like with either building 3 or 1 we *might* end up being really far away if we got one of the rooms on the far side of the building. But I am afraid if we just write "close to transportation" they might put us over in 90's, which would not be idea as far as I am concerned because of the proximity to the parking lot with our kids. I would prefer to be away from the parking lots.

Has anybody stayed in either of those buildings on the far side. Was it a really long walk to Classic Hall? Maybe I am worrying too much. That is entirely likely. LOL ;)

When I made requests for my upcoming trip, I saw them listed in the reservation email I received from The Walt Disney Travel Company. It looked like this:

HOTEL
ALL STAR MOVIES
PLEASE NOTE: REQ BLDG 2

When I sign into My Disney Experience and look at my reservation, no requests are listed, which isn't that surprising to me. That online access isn't very complete.

Requesting building 1 or 3 puts you pretty close to Classic Hall even with a standard room. I've been in building 1 twice in the wing pointing toward parking (rooms 1148 and 1138) and you are still just steps away from the pool area and to Classic Hall. In addition building 1 has pathways to Classic Hall that provide shortcuts, including my favorite where you can cut in front where the luggage area is and head to the buses that way.

This room numbering/layout map might be of use to you: http://photopost.wdwinfo.com/data/1329/popcenturyroomlayoutlarge.jpg

I apologize if this has been discussed earlier but I didn't have the time to get all the way through this thread. When I requested a King bed, I specified that we did not want the handicapped accessible type (can't stand the walk-in shower). When I looked at the reservation online, it lists King bed request, followed by "Please note: King Bed in Nonlockout Type". I assume this means non-accessible, but I wanted to double check with the experts here! I've never heard of the term "nonlockout".
Not ever heard that term myself and I'm fairly familiar with POP. I would think you assumption is correct though...and I would 'think' that they wouldn't assign the HC rooms until the others are all filled first, BUT I could be wrong on that! ;)

One week till my first stay at POP, I am beyond excited!!!

You will have a Blast! POP is so much fun!! Enjoy!!!

Well, the reality is that with 'wanting' particular bldgs, ground floor & connecting rooms that is a lot of requests to meet. I am in NO way saying that they are unreasonable requests, but there they 'may' be limited on the options of 'open' rooms at the time of your check in. And they usually do their best to meet all of the requests as best they can. So to answer your question... Yes, you could end up on the far side of bldg 1 or 3. Personally, I don't think it is that far to the main bldg from there. But if I were you, I wouldn't put the cart before the horse. You can always ask and see what else is availabe. If connecting isn't so important, chances are they would be able to find you two rooms 'near' but maybe not next to one another that you would find more acceptable if you feel the connecting rooms are too far away. Who knows they may have ones next to each other that aren't connecting that are acceptable. But if you are really unhappy with where you are, then just politely speak up and ask what else is available. It's not that big of a deal for them to move you. :)

Unfortunately, there isn't much that can be done about the water because it needs to be fully HC accessible, but if you aim the showerhead downward more and not out toward the shower curtain, that helps tremendously with keeping more of the water in the shower area and away from the toilet. Or it always has for us. :thumbsup2

So I am planning on going down In Oct for the first time with out my DS, i want to stay at a room that faces the lagoon:cool1: can any one can recommend a Building and room selection ??. POP Is my favorite and all the Buildings seems so close so for me it does not matter

Well, I have to say again, I respectfully disagree. The preferred are the closest. HOWEVER, there are MANY standard rooms that are ALMOST ;) as close as preferred. And there are MANY standard rooms that are GREAT locations!! :thumbsup2
I do find it interesting that you (and there isn't anything wrong with this...it's not meant as a dig) like the 80's/90's section. I really don't know anyone else that has stayed there and has liked it. I have spent tons of time at POP and the people I know or have talked to who stay there have despised it.

We LOVE the 80's and 90's - prefer it over any other area. It's SUCH a close walk for the busses and just a few steps further for Everything Pop! Love love love it.

I always request the 4th floor. It is the quietest. Maybe I really am an oddball when it comes to POP. :rotfl2:

We request 3rd or 4th, too. But not for quiet - for less chance of critters wandering in. We had that issue at CBR on the ground floor years back and after I realized that if a DUCK can get in my room - creepier stuff surely can wander in too...well, that was the last time I stayed on ground floor, ha ha! I know, they can get up higher, too, but I convince myself that they are lazy and will go for ground floor over higher up ;)

This is hilarious because the past three trips and this upcoming one I request the 80s 90s section and we love that area. Like a previous poster said, it's a quick walk to the buses on the sidewalk next to the parking lot, we never cut through. We find it quiet and convenient for us.

I agree. We love being able to zip around the parking lot (either thru it or around it...). It's MUCH quicker than 50's and 70's where we have stayed (have never been in the 60's...)

Just make sure you pick the RESORT monorail line!! And not the express line. There will be two to pick from so be sure to pay attention to that since you need to go to a resort. The express line only goes to the ticket & transportation ctr. So if you get on the wrong one, you will waste time having to change lines later. :)

You'll be fine!! And you're going to LOVE POP!!

As someone else said, if you did get the Express Monorail, just get off and walk to Poly. Looking at a 5 minute or so walk. We do this routinely after dinner at Ohana/Kona when we have the kids go to Neverland Club - nice walk to TTC from there. Or, you can catch the resort launch. That's enjoyable, too...and sometimes quicker!

I have just over 3 months till I am back at my happy place! Last trip I strayed (AKL/CSR) and I missed Pop so much! We stopped by one day and I was so sad...no other resort has the same vibe as Pop. It's always so happy in there. I just love it!!

Really excited! I arrive tomorrow early evening. I think I heard or read that many from this weekends Cheerleading Competiton were staying at Pop so Im hoping we get a room not too close to the pools. Really would like to get some rest. Either way it should be a blast.

I would request a lakeview room in either of building 3 or 6. Building 6 is a bit closer to transportation, but not a huge difference. We've gotten lakeview rooms in both of those buildings and were delighted with them.

We check in the night before you. We are going to tell the kids the day we leave.

This is exactly what I want to avoid. I want a King bed with a regular shower/tub.

I never have trouble rising early on vacation. I get up early to do a run around the lake -- well, you couldn't get all the way around when we were there in August because construction on LM wasn't complete, but it was very nice to run in the early morning. There are always a few people out for walks, runs, or smokes, so you won't be totally alone. It's nice and quiet though. Very peaceful. Enjoy!
