October 2013 Code Watch?!

They wont offer the quick service DDP at the moderates under a free dining promo. If you call and add the FD code to your existing reservation, it will automatically be the Regular/Basic DDP. If you want to do quick service dining during your stay, you will have to have your TS credits converted into CS credits. It's a much bigger hassle to do it in line at the CS locations, do go to guest services at your resort and have them convert the TS credits for you. You can not do this over the phone beforehand, it can only be done after check in.

But you paid more for the DDP than the QSDP...how would that work converting them? Sorry...I'm confused and your helping me figure it out...lol

I have an ongoing NOTES page for my trips. I just add to it as I need. The best thing about that is I can email my NOTES page to myself or whoever is traveling with me.

Is it just a document you made, or how did you create the page?

It's free dining, the cost is $0 for either plan. If you want to take advantage of a free dining offer at a Moderate Resort, you are automatically given the Regular/Basic DDP, that is how the discount code/package will be set up on the WDW reservations system, they will not be able to downgrade you to the Quick Service plan under that FD code in their system. If you only want to do QS during your trip, you will have to have your TS dining credits converted into CS credits, because your FD reservation at a moderate resort will automatically include one (1) credit per person, per night of your stay.

Well, with the reduced dates of the now-announced late summer free dining plan and the high number of resort bookings in October, I have resigned myself that FD will certainly NOT be coming in October. They have absolutely no reason to do so. Bummer. I have a decent discount already but free dining would save us some bucks.

My 180+10 was this morning and I had trouble getting my desired times, even places that I have never had any trouble scoring before. For example, Narcoossees on my birthday I couldn't get a time that works with seeing Wishes. No 8:05 ADR at Crystal Palace. Pirate's League was booked up (at 180+7!) for the time I planned. Certainly, no BOG was available! Busy, busy.

Oh ok...now I think I got it. If they offer the same promotion for October...I can upgrade my dining to DDP again, get it free, and than trade it in for QS credits at my resort?? Our trip is unorganized. We don't want to plan anything including dinner reservations so the QSDP was perfect for us.

So you have to have the credits changed at check in? It's not as simple as telling the CM checking you out to use a TS instead of a QS? Cause I'm in the same boat as the PP. We are only eating at 2 restaurants so I'd want the rest in QS credits.

I have never heard of anyone having to go through all of the switching business. As of Jan. 1, 2012, you can use any TS credit for a CS meal anywhere on property. The cashiers will use up your CS credits first, then once they are gone they will just deduct your TS credits.

Oh, I don't think October will totally be blocked out for free dining. At the very least, the last week of October is a historically low crowd week and they will most likely need to fill resort rooms that week.

I hope this is the case! I'd hate to transfer my credits beforehand in case we spontaneously eat at a TS.

You won't upgrade anything, the Regular DDP will automatically be put on your reservation the moment the CM adds the FD code to your moderate resort reservation. If you will want QS the entire trip you will have to convert them at the resort customer service desk or at the restaurants - but some CMs won't know about or understand this policy, so there have been some reports of it being a hassle in the restaurants.

Same for me, except that we have used TS credits for CS meals before 2012. The CS cashiers, I think, made absolutely sure we understood what we were doing, but we ran out of time in the trip to eat another table service meal, and just used TS credits for CS meals. There was no pre-planning required. For all I know, it may have become more complicated as of 2012, but our experience doing this pre-2012 was quite easy.

Prior to 2012, it was at the restaurants discretion but now it is policy property wide.

I think it did become official policy last year, but some people have reported having issues with CM at the CS locations not being aware of the policy when asked by guest if they can convert. Is the system now automatically deducting the TS credits for CS credit without CM override? Previously there had to be a CM override. If its being done automatically now, that's great, I just had not personally heard/read it yet.

Disney411, how are crowds typically the first week of October? I thought that they were low therefore free would be probable.

They are low to moderate. Just because it wasn't included this time doesn't mean there won't be a discount. It will likely be included in the next round. Typically July, but maybe we'll get luck and they'll release it in June after the current promo expires.

The first and last week of October are typically the slower week in October. But as Smitch said, the October - December dates aren't usually released until July, sometimes August.

Is it just a document you made, or how did you create the page?

on the iphone there is an application called Notes, Open it then hit the + sign to make a new page. I put the title as the first line. Save it like that and then whenever you open Notes you see a list of "notes" I just open the WDW one and as I find stuff I want to remember I type it in. Every so often if I need to, I click on the bottom of my page (the box with an arrow in it) and send it to my email account.

From my email I can put it into an excel sheet or word document if I need too, but I usually just leave it in my notes and refer to it as I need it.

I keep all my travel confirmation numbers (hotel/airline/rental car) as well as a day by day list of my ADR's or events.

I also put any thing I expecially want to remember. I have a 4S and I can actually add to a list by voice command but I rarely do that as it just automatically adds it to the bottom and I like to add my notes to a specific day.

It's really just a long list.

I have a bunch that I change a lot like Shop, ToDo, Call. These I go in and edit as I do the activity or add to it. Then I have all travel under it's name and those get added to as I do something or reserve or get info. I love that feature. It's not as easy as being able to copy and paste but I don't mind typing and since I always have my phone it's easy to edit or look up something.

Ok....instead of converting them, can I use TS credits at CS locations? I'm sorry for all the questions but I'm a rookie to the dining plans and staying on property. I've never done it before.
