Went ahead and booked Plan B

I went ahead and rejigged all our off site reservations this weekend. Moved Universal to the middle of the trip to take advantage of the 40% off PIN I got. We will stay at a suites hotel with free breakfast for the first part, then universal and then a couple of days at the Yacht Club with a really good price from a travel agent. DH agreed to a couple of days on property since we had a good price ($190 a night for Yacht Club). Now I have to re-do all our park days.

I still have my ADR's saved from the Plan A trip and I guess we can switch back if there is a decent discount that comes up for August 18 onward.

I am disappointed though, I have been planning and dreaming for a 10 day trip to POR for more than a year. Just can not justify paying rack rate though.

I understand. I think that Disney is really silly for waiting to release deals so long. Universal has released the 40% and people are switching! It seems weird to me that they wouldn't want to keep up with them??

You will LOVE, LOVE, LOVE staying onsite at Universal. Nothing Disney offers can compare to the FOTL privileges that you get at Universal.

Thanks. I have heard nothing but great things about that FOTL so we are super pumped about that.

I have also decided today that I really am in the best of both worlds here. I mean, chances are Pretty Darned Good that SOME kind of discount will be announced for my time frame and then I will get to decide between my A and B plans carefully and even take my time with it since my ressies are all made.

Just MUST remember to cancel whichever ressies we don't end up using. YIKES, loosing deposit money if I forgot would be horrible.

Just gotta wait now.

We booked our plan B too and it's such a relief to have something booked so I can enjoy the planning again. Now if I can just get the cheap airfare that I missed waiting for FD I'll be all set

Gotcha! That's great! We booked that deal last year at GF...it was awesome! I would have loved to take advantage of that again but we decided to try November this year.

The Universal 40% off was a PIN that was sent out via email. I had signed up at the universal site for emails, info and deals about their resorts and they sent to me. I know at least one DISer went and signed up a few days after I got my pin and they got one within like a day or something as well. So go there and sign up and hopefully you are not too late to get that happy little email.

Now that the dates have been leaked and FD doesn't start until 9/2, how does that affect your plans?

We booked FD on a bounceback last year and we're so glad that we did, but we've warned our kids that if there is no FD in late August next year, we are definitely not staying onsite and will probably do a Universal only trip. We'll have to see what the bounceback is when we check in.
