SAIL AWAY PARTY and SAILING AWAY!

*Hi Dis Friends!! DBF and I are celebrating 9 months together today!!!! We can't be together but we will be celebration 10 months in May!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I tried to go to Epcot to see Flower and Garden but after I ate lunch at Electric Umbrella it started to rain so I left! I have a few more weeks to go see it, hopefully I'll get past Mousegear next time! We're all booked for Memorial Day! We'll be staying at POP May 23-24 and WL 24-28! We'll have the regular DDP. I can't wait to see what DBF has in store for this trip ( I told him to plan it all except the resort info!)

March 24, 2013

*Disclaimer..I released this and then decided to go back and edit to include the actual sail away!

When I left off, DBF and I were unpacking some more when it was time to head for the Sail Away Party! They announced over the speaker (BTW, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the "When You Wish Upon a Star" chimes to signal announcements!) that the party would be indoors because of the storm. I was slightly bummed since it wasn't the norm for the party but we dealt. On our way down to deck 5 to watch from above we decided to stop and get ice cream cones! Thankfully we had finished before it started!

We found spots near a couple (who I thought we might share a table with at dinner but we didn't) and it ended up being a not-bad spot!

CMs were handing out pom-poms but we didn't get any since we were tucked in a corner.

The finale with confetti and I had goose bumps out the wazoo!!!!

After the show we ducked out to try and beat the crowd and it was obvious that the main elevators were NOT and option haha. We walked up a few sets of stairs and then walked down to our elevators in the forward which was much better!

We got back to the room just in time to hear the horn sound for us to leave which was pretty cool bc I was on the phone with my mom when the horn sounded so she got to hear it! and then we were off!!!!!!!

*FIRST TIME CRUISE LESSON #10

#10: WATCH THE SHIP SAIL AWAY! If you don't have a verandah you really should be on some outside deck to watch the ship sail away (especially on the starboard side). It really was a surreal experience and one of my favorite parts of the trip! I had some major goose bumps for sure! DBF was right..GET A VERANDAH IF YOU CAN!

I quickly said bye to my mom as we pulled out and not 20-30 mins after we left the coast and I lost phone service. I kept my phone on Airplane Mode for the rest of the trip (with the exception of taking it off for a few mins at sea, Nassau, and CC to see if I had anything..nope!)

Notice the weather?!

Everyone cheered and honked horns at us!!! That gave me goose bumps as well!!!

We sailed away to a rainbow in front us. It was a chilling feeling (in a good way) because believe it or not, there has been more than one time that I've seen a rainbow the day that DBF was to travel to see me or me to see him or we're together. It was pretty crazy and I was happy to see that and knew it would be a good trip!

GOOD BYE FLORIDA!!! HELLO OCEAN WATERS!

It was official that we were on vacation and our adventure was about to begin! We finished unpacking and decided to see what adventure to find first!

UP NEXT: GOLDEN MICKEYS, MEGAN'S SHOPPING SPREE, AND FIRST DINNER!

Happy anniversary!!! How fun you guys have another trip coming up soon, that's great! I'm sorry to hear about the weather during the sail away party:(, but I'm glad to hear they moved it inside. We loved our verandah on our last cruise, I don't think I can go without again.

Can't wait to see what you do first

GOLDEN MICKEYS, SHOPPING SPREE, AND FIRST DINNER

*Hi Dis friends!

I hope everyone is having a great week! I can't wait for Friday to come! The kids at school only have 4 weeks and 2 days left of school! May is going to go very quickly (I hope!) Not much in the plans for Memorial Day since it's all a surprise for me but I can dream about what may happen?!

MARCH 24, 2013

When I left off we were sailing away into the sunset and had finished unpacking. Our goal was to see all 3 of the Disney stage shows since it was our first cruise and I was not opposed to it since I love musical theatre.

DBF and I got ready for dinner and went to the show dressed for dinner. We got to the theater with just 5 mins to spare. We sat in almost the back row so some of the screens were cut off but it didn't matter. DBF got me a bag of popcorn (for less than $3) and it was delicious!

Natalie, our cruise director was giving her spiel and getting everyone psyched up! Finally the show began!! (sorry no pics or video permitted!)

The show was great. Any Disney lover would appreciate it and I loved all the older Disney references and songs! I was happy to cross that off my Cruise Bucket List!!

At that point we could really feel the ship moving but I pushed forward (without taking meds as I was determined not to!) and after the show we ran..well..sorta, ran for the gift shops!!!! Natalie reminded everyone that we'd be staying in Nassau till 2am and the shops would not be open till after CC day at 5:30pm and to get all needed supplies NOW!

We first went into the jewelry store and I picked up 3 pairs of flip flops on sale but ended up returning them as I was sure they'd hurt my feet. I spied a beautiful DCL watch that I walked away from. We then hit up the liquor store/sundries store to get "supplies" just in case I ran out of mine! (get my drift?!) Awful I know but thankfully I didn't need them..yay!

We went into the standard gift shop with shirts, frames, etc. I bought several more items like a frame, long sleeve tshirt, and some other knick knacks. Finally we went in to the general gift shop and kids sections and bought other items as well like a hoodie, and gifts for family and friends. After my 4 bags, we took them to the room and headed for dinner!

When we did our ship tour in the morning, we noticed our table (55) had 8 seats. I was apprehensive about sharing with other people but knew it would be okay..I'm generally a friendly person and if it was with kids, I'm a teacher so all is well!

*FIRST TIME CRUISE LESSON #11

#11 Don't be afraid of your tablemates! I'm glad we didn't request a two person table. It was interesting to meet new people and share in Disney stories even though I think DBF and I were the biggest Disney fans at our table.

We got there and one couple was already there from MI . Two more eventually showed up from Orlando (Celebration) and IL and we were a table of 4 couples varying in ages from 26-40. Disney had obviously planned that out and it was nice!!!

I warned them of my food pics!

We also met our head server, server, and asst. server. All of which were very nice and took the time to get to know what we loved. We only saw the head server twice the whole trip but he was nice when we spoke!

Finally we ordered!

DBF got coke to drink and I got diet coke

At this point you could really feel the ship moving. We were on deck 3 in the aft (back) and it was clear when you were sitting that we were moving but I was determined to still not take medicine!

DBF and I got different apptez

Mine..lobster dish

DBF..mushroom dish

My salad

DBF's salad

Both entrees

My dessert

DBF's dessert (I didn't care for it!)

My only "issue" of sorts was that the asst. server did not refill empty drinks or ask us if we wanted refills. I was under the impression that you only got water and one drink for the night...but was I wrong?? We never asked and by the time I would have, I just drank water and ate the rest of my meal and dessert.

Our overall thoughts of the restaurant..

It was good..what we would expect for the cruise. We were hoping it would only get better but did it???

We said bye to our tablemates and went on our way.

We went back to the room and found our first nightly surprise!!

I decided not to change clothes and we decided to head and check out the bars!

We checked out all of the clubs and ended up not going into any but we did find the night club buffet!

*FIRST TIME CRUISE LESSON #12

#12 If you go hungry on the Disney Dream, you are crazy!!! The club buffet of snacks was a great addition to solving late night hunger without room service!

We decided to head up to deck 11 and get drinks and eventually go to the hot tub!

We got drinks, changed in the room, and went to the hot tub on the adult side which was pretty much empty! The adult side was really paradise behind a few walls!!

After the hot tub, we got ready for bed and was in bed just after midnight.

We made it through our first day of vacation and were loving every min of it but would the trend continue into the morning?!!!

UP NEXT: AN UNPLANNED VIEWING OF THE SUN RISE..BUT WHY???

Glad you got good table mates

You food looked tasty

I hate when servers don't refill my drink or ask me if I want anymore. That is a HUGE pet peeve of mine

Sounds like you had a great night with the buffet and hot tub

can't wait for more :cool1:

SUNRISE INTO NASSAU!

*HAPPY SUNDAY DIS FRIENDS!!!

I can't believe we only have 4 weeks of school left! I went to the dr on Friday with some arm pain and back pain. Not really sure of a diagnosis but I did get restrictions for work at WDW (lifting and what-not). I'm to be on anti inflammatory medicine and pain medicine for 5 days and then reevaluate. I think it's stemming from my broken toe in Jan (fell trying to push myself up from the tub) and I also fell getting into the pool on the cruise too. Hoping it's nothing too serious and the medicine works! We had a beautiful Sunday and I spent about 2 hours at Typhoon but the waves + my back not so hot so I didn't last too long lol. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

MARCH 25, 2013

When I left off, DBF and I were sound asleep in our cabin on the wonderful dream! We decided to leave the verandah door open and listen to the ocean all night which was amazing...until..

I woke up at 5:45am sweating like you wouldn't believe and the ship was really rocking. I looked outside and the humidity had increased like you wouldn't believe and I immediately shut the door, turned the air on high and thought I was going to toss my cookies for sure! It was then that I regretted all the food I ate before bed!!

I woke up DBF who sat up and waited to see what happened and what I'd need. I drank some water and took bonnie. Within 20 mins I was better. I went to lay back down on my side again and that clearly was not working. At that point it was 6:30am and it looked like the sun was starting to rise around 7am so I decided to get dressed and head to the upper deck and watch it rise while DBF slept.

We clearly were not in Nassau yet!

HELLO BEAUTIFUL SUNRISE!!!

*FIRST TIME CRUISE LESSON #13

#13...if you can..SEE A SUNRISE!!! I was not so thankful, I was woken up sick and overheated but I did get to see a beautiful sunrise of which I was very thankful for too!

Cabanas was open for continental breakfast until 7:30 so I decided to head in and find something small to eat for the time being. Probably not the best choice as I almost threw up earlier but it just looked good!

After I ate, I went back to the cabin to find that we were getting close to Nassau!

Words can't describe how pretty the water is!

We're in Nassau!

Once docked. Look at the view!

I finally woke DBF up around 8:15 as we had arrived, had 2 hours till our tour to Atlantis, and I was feeling 100% better and was hungry!

We went to Cabanas for breakfast around 9am and it was packed! Both sides of the buffet were packed. We should have tried one of the other restaurants but it was okay. We got food and it was delicious!

We had two plates each and headed back to the cabin to get ready for the tour to Atlantis!

I honestly can't stress how awesome it was to have a verandah and I say all the time that DBF was right..especially if you're on the starboard side!!

I was totally stoked to enter a foreign country for only the 2nd time in my life (first was Canada in 2006)!! The Navigator told us to leave passports in the safe so we did but brought our licenses and copies of our passports.

After getting ready and packing up, we headed out of the cabin and went to meet up for our tour in the Walt Disney Theater!

UP NEXT: A CHARACTER SURPRISE AND NASSAU!!

Great update! My mom and I went on a cruise the same week out of Fort Lauderdale, and it was the worst weather we have ever had on a cruise. And the ship was SO rocky. Luckily, we both have strong stomachs because it didn't bother us at all other than not being able to walk in a straight line :rotfl: Sorry you got sick...hopefully, you felt better as the cruise went on. I've yet to visit the Bahamas on any of my cruises, looking forward to your Atlantis report...I've always wanted to visit it!

Sorry you were not feeling well at first. Glad the meds kicked in and you felt better before your tour

Can't wait to hear about Atlantis :goodvibes
