April 28th Dream Bahamas Cruise

Hello,

Our port arrival time is 2.30, so pretty late unfortunately. Does anyone knows what happens if you come early, e.g, around 1 pm?

Okay - question for you experienced cruisers -- we are a family of 3 (two adults, son is 4) -- how much sunscreen would you say we will use?

Trying to make a list of those little things I still need to go get :)

We bought one bottle of sunscreen lotion (Walmart brand - 30 SPF) before our 8 day cruise on the Magic and did not use all of it. We are a family of 4. 2 adults, 2 kids (9 & 12).

If you bring the spray on you might need to bring 2 cans, but I've never used more than that for all of us even on 7 day cruises.

Walmart brand - I think it's Great Value is about $5.00 a can/bottle and works great. We were at Castaway Cay (April 2) from 9:30am until around 4:00pm. Megan and Grady were next to the water almost the whole time building a sand castle and did not get burnt at all. I on the other hand sat under an umbrella most of the day (I thought) and did not apply the sunscreen until later. I had burnt shoulders. That made WDW the next day fun. :confused3

So - from my experience - whatever you bring works best if you use it.:rotfl2::rotfl2::beach::beach:

OH - one other thing I want to suggest is that those of you going to walk to the Queens Staircase in Nassau. It's a nice walk and a really cool thing to see. We have been there 3 or 4 times - I don't remember, but don't make yourself obviously Disney. We did the first couple of times (slow learner) and had a few problems with people thinking we were "rich" because we were on a Disney Cruise. The last couple of times we wore nothing Disney and did not have a problem.

I would suggest you stay in a group. I did not feel unsafe there, but the last time we were there was 2011. I've heard things are not as safe and muggings have happened at the Queen's Staircase.

Also - watch the traffic when you walk the last little bit of the way. The sidewalk gets narrow the last bit (before you get to the hospital) and they drive crazy fast there.

Our check in time is 1:30. I've had this time before, but showed up with the rest of my group when the port opened (10:30ish). This was last June on the Fantasy.

All 3 of the families we were with had different times. The family with the earliest time had boarding number 2 or 3, the second family had 6, I think, and we had group 9. We were all onboard within a half hour of each other.

So - what I'm saying is that you can come early. If you come around 1:00pm you should be able to walk right on after you check in.

We are scheduled on the 12:00 shuttle from the park & ride.

Hello my name is John and my wife and our 4yo son Zachary will be on this cruise. I have been on disBoards more the last two months than Facebook. This is our first Disney Cruise and looking so forward to it. Please come check our room door out. I have worked hard on the magnets and looking forward to decorating it. We are in stateroom 6006. So much fun. Thanks

Will definitely check out the magnets! The kids and I have also been making magnets for some time. :wave2:

Wow...next week at this time we'll be at the Country Inn and Suites getting ready to go to dinner and see the ships leave. (should freak the kids out when they see the Fantasy pull out-they don't know the difference between the ships yet_i know, were bad lol)
Packing today since DH is at a conference wed-fri, flying back Friday night so we can leave Saturday morning. so ready we can hardly stand it!

Laundry and packing today...i hope it all fits in the suitcases with some room to spare for souveniers!

The excitement is building!!! But I dread packing, I love traveling, but hate paking. Good thing its only a 4 night cruise. I think on my 7 day cruise I packed 14 pairs of shoes. Excessive I know, but I like options. :). The kids are basically done, because all of their stuff is new-lol. They were easy, it's just me and all my stuff. Good thing we are driving.

Well..all of the gear is packed except the last minute stuff, which will get packed Thursday. I used the rolling compression bags to save some space (first time using them) and I fit most of our stuff in our two carry on bags! That should leave the checked bag for FE gifts and souvenirs!

Woke up this morning to this

Oh man! We're finally into spring here in Anchorage---temps in the 40s, but it can always snow again. Just think warm thoughts and get through the week!

This time next week, we'll be hanging out on the Disney Dream!

I was just on the DCL Forum and read a thread that DCL is no longer allowing the over the door shoe organizers. (Not FE's, but the clear shoe organizers on the bathroom doors). The letter stated that $100.00 fee would be assessed if damage to the doors was found from using this.

I have used one every cruise and love having it. We always kept things like sunscreen and toiletries in it. The best thing about it was that we could use either bathroom because if the one was in use you could just grab your stuff and use the other one. I'm going to have to find a solution to this. It was suggested to hang it on the hooks on the wall outside the bathrooms. I will be bringing extra zip ties and other items to make this work.

I will follow the new rules, but I really like my organizer.

Just giving a heads up for everyone else. The thread is on the main DCL forum.

Back to laundry and packing! This time next week I will be getting ready for dinner! :goodvibes

There are little hooks on the back of the door (for hanging towels, wet clothes, etc)--perhaps you could hang the door hanger on that in some way. Or hang some other type of organizing pockets.

This time next week we'll be on the Dream watching a show! This is our first time with early dining. What are your thoughts/experiences with early dining? On our 8 other cruises, we've never had an option, so we've gotten used to the late dining.

I use the hook on the back of the door for my PJ's. I like to have my organizer outside the door so I can get my stuff and use whatever bathroom is not in use. We normally travel as a family of 4 and one of the bathrooms is usually occupied. I might try to see if I can use a pants hanger and hang it on the hook that is outside the closet door. I know they have this hook on the Magic, but I can't remember if it was on the Dream/Fantasy closet doors.

It's not as important for this trip, because it's just Megan and I, but I want to be prepared for our next family trip.

This is our first time with early dining. What are your thoughts/experiences with early dining? On our 8 other cruises, we've never had an option, so we've gotten used to the late dining.

We have had both late and main dining. We like both, but I find I'm sleepy at the shows after dinner.

The day is growing nearer.

Has the time been finalized for our Dismeet? Would really like to meet everyone that's been on here and you all have been a very helpful group. :worship:

Thanks

Pete

Do you know what time the DVC meets usually are? What time works for everyone? 3:00, 3:30, 4:00?

Still no room # yet. I'm starting to wonder if OGT is Deck 4 chairs. :rotfl2:
