DVC at Fort Wilderness

There was a lot of chatter a while back about a new DVC at the old River Country but then the Grand Floridian started. Any thought on if this will happen?:cool1:

There has been a lot of chat about this over the years, I think there were even preliminary plans drawn up. However it looks like the next DVC will be at the Polynesian resort. With sales at the GF about to start and the Poly to break ground when it is finished i would bet we will not see another development for at least 5 years.

Disney realized they can command so much more money for a DVC at a monorail resort. So they shoved the FW DVC down the list and moved all of the monorail DVCs up to the top. I have also heard a Poly DVC is next on the list. As far as time frame...depends on how fast they want to sell out GFV. They can slow sales by raising the price just like they did at BLT. That was supposed to sell out more then a year before it did, once they jacked the price up to $150/$165 a point they were able to stretch out the last quarter million points for quite a while.

I thought there wasn't room to build at the Poly?
I'm not going to buy at GF but I would definately buy at the Poly!

I think they'll have to lower prices again if they build at the Fort. Unless they rebuilt River Country as the pool, there is no big draw there. I might choose it over SS or OKW, but that's it.

Thanks Doc and Dr.
I feared as much. For my taste the resorts on the monorail have become overbuilt already. At our visit in February it felt like a small city at night. A feeling I am trying to get away from on vacation since I work in a large city. For us some peace in quiet away from it all is better.

I definitely believe something will come to the river country whether its a new DVC for the wilderness or a brand new hotel. The river country needs to go it looks horrible and is giving that area and disney a bad image. I also believe something new will be coming to the poly I started a thread on bungalows which is a cool and different idea that has been going around for awhile now but I strongly believe something will come to each.

Well, that was no great mystery all through the development process on the Ft. Wilderness DVC. ;) Still they invested a lot of money in the project before it was mothballed.

Chances are it will be revived at some point. The most profitable DVC projects are ones which add-on to existing Disney resorts. And Ft. Wilderness is one location which has not been exploited yet.

Personally I thought the timing was poor, given that they have spent the last 6+ years selling points at the Animal Kingdom Villas. While the design of a Ft. Wilderness DVC remains mostly unknown, it would probably share a lot of the dark wood, hunting lodge flair found at AKV. DVC will be better served by offering uniquely different options to buyers before circling around to something so similar to AKV.

Based on what was out there, the DVC near FL and FW was to be a western theme!

I find it a bit interesting that the new DCV at poly has plans for bungalows over the water and the one at FL/FW also showed a building over the water.
