This was from a few pages back, but just got here now, and they have Heineken, Sam Adams, Bud Light, and Tusker beers. The African Chardonnay I had was fantastic!

Uh, oh - no Yuengling? We love Tusker, but Yuengling is a favorite too! That's what they had every time up through the last time we stayed CL in 2012. :worried:

Just checked into a King club room. Liking it so far. We usually stay in 1BR DVC rooms or Deluxe rooms where they have them, so the room is a little small for us by comparison. Nice we were able to get our king request, but these rooms are also the handicap accessible, and as such, only have a single sink in the bathroom. Will be a little tight for toiletries. It's been raining since we got here, but still a lot of activity on the Savannah.

So is it a king plus daybed? Does the daybed pull out at all like a sofa bed would? Do you think the's enough room for a toddler sized air mattress or is it pretty tight quarters?

Thanks!!!

We're off in just over 2 weeks and had just recently heard Yeungling was on offer at the AKL CL. DH will be pretty disappointed if it's not, though Tusker is another fave so it's a VERY nice "consolation prize"!

Can anyone tell me the kid drink options? WL CL had chocolate milk and juice boxes for kids but I'm guessing AKL may not have juice boxes because of the straw factor. DD is still not great with an open cup so if there are no juice boxes, I'm going to pack a bunch of lidded cups for the CL.

Sorry to hear that you waited long for buses...I was there from Apr. 5th to 13th, so I had 3 days of very busy crowds and honestly I actually was amazed as at how well the buses came, and how quick they got to the park....Better than what I expected at least..:confused3 Hope things get better in the next few days.

We are planning on staying here before our Disney Dream Cruise. We are booked in a Standard Studio location and when I checked in online I had an option for requests...I requested both the Savannah views. Can someone please explain the views for the Standard Studio.

It is King plus daybed, and yes, the daybed cushion comes up and it does look like it pulls out like a sofa bed. I don't know if the air mattress would fit in addition to that though.

Many more rooms on Zebra so, yes, that is what I'd request! :thumbsup2 The only downside is you could end up quite a hike from the lobby, but you could also add "close to lobby" as your 2nd request.

The DVC rooms on Giraffe Trail are all "Value" villas so if you have a standard studio booked you don't want to request Giraffe. (sorry for the confusion of DVC vs non-DVC!)

We've stayed in 5004 (1-bedroom), 5006 (studio), 5016 (studio), and 5030 (1-bedroom) - all are Values.

Checking my list, the only DVC "standard view studio" we have stayed in at Jambo was #5406. It was a lobby room (directly at one end of the suspension bridge!) with a nice pool view. Loved the location! :thumbsup2

I wish I had more information for you on "standard view studios" and where they're located. I think I need to do more research! ;)

I'm sure someone else who frequents this board can provide more information for us! :)

Thank you for your help. I've booked standard view studios before but the CMs have tried to be nice and upgraded me to a savanna view which I really enjoyed. I've also booked savanna view and had a wonderful room on Arusha Savanna. The pool at Jambo is my very favorite on property and I'd love to be able to have a great view of it from my room .... love that view at night. So I guess I'll just throw myself on the mercy of the CM and request pool view please. :thumbsup2

I don't remember juice boxes. Just the glass pitchers of juice and juice bottles. However we received very cute, reusable 'cups' shaped like animals with straws.

Staying one night in Kidani 1 bedroom....savanna view. Really wanting to see giraffes, what should we request?? Also, I have heard that specific floors are better for viewing animals from our balcony as well...true? 1st time at AKL...bursting :) thx

Staying in standard CL room, do all of those rooms overlook the Savannah. Do I need to request a particular room or level?

We are arriving Sept.9 of this year.

Request "Sunset Savannah" (there are 2 savannahs at Kidani - Sunset & Pembe. Sunset has the giraffes (plus lots of other animals!) ;)). I'd also request a lower floor to be more at eye level with the animals. My first stay ever at Kidani was on the 5th floor. It was a beautiful view, but I mostly saw the tops of the animals! :rotfl: (2nd floor, which is lobby level at Kidani, is ideal! :thumbsup2)[/QUOTE]

:teacher: yes, this! We were on the fourth floor Sunset but I'd entered a similar request thanks to Laura. We were on the fourth but a great location so no worries. But I could see how the view might be more straight down in some areas. But the Savannah view was all amazing!

Rooms for CL (non-DVC!) are on the 4th floor, Arusha Savannah. The rooms will usually be in the first pod off the lobby in both Kudu and Zebra Trails. When staying CL, I only make my room requests through the IPO. The only request I usually make is which trail, Kudu or Zebra, I'd prefer! Rooms are the regular resort room with a few extra touches! :goodvibes

When staying CL, I also don't bother with online check-in - although there was a post recently that IPO was encouraging a guest to do online check-in. :confused3 My next CL stay isn't until late August so I won't have any first-hand information till then. :upsidedow

How do the AKL rooms compare in size to the moderates? I know they're smaller than the CR and Poly and BC rooms, correct?

Does a crib fit pretty well in a king or 2 queen bed room? Where do you normally put it? (DD2 has a toddler size air mattress that we're planning on bringing with which would be about the same size as a crib)

Do they have bed rails and/or cots to use?

She won't sleep in a crib or pack n play on vacation and it was a bit of a nightmare last year...so trying to come up with an alternative...

Thanks for all the help and answers!

I think the pack and play size bed fits nicely in the area between the foyer and dresser. (where the connecting door usually is)

If you have a bunkbed room, the top bunk has rails all around. But, I don't know that I would want my toddler up there even with rails.

The table and chairs take up a lot of room by the slider but maybe you could squeeze it in there.

Hope everyone is doing well. I haven't been on the Dis/this thread in ages.
Had to share my excitement - I'm booked at AKL for a week in August :cool1: Haven't been since last March pixiedust:
