Well finally wrapped up our TBS ordeal. I wanted to warn anyone considering using TBS to be ready for a GONG show. Slow painful agonizing ordeal. Excuses galore and a lack of communication are the norm. I waited until we were done to complain to BBB, on DIS boards and Angie's List. Wish I had checked here first. We received our member number letter on Friday and were able to book on Saturday.

Hope you did not use Timeshare Broker Services we did and here is our timeline

12/28 submitted offer.
12/31 offer accepted wait for contract to be processed
1/9 contract arrives day before only a week lost, it is signed and escrow sent via CC
1/25 after many calls and emails find that contract had been submitted for ROFR that day not 15 days earlier. No explanation from TBS
2/25 passed ROFR 30 days No one calls. We find out when closing Doc's are emailed from Timeshare Closing Services our agent there is battling flu.
She tells me my TBS agent is no longer working there. Was she fired quit
2/26 Closing documents reviewed $$$ mistake $$$ discovered
3/4 Corrected statement signed and wired balance of contract it took a week to move charge from buyer to seller column???? Agent was sick so ok
4/3 Owners finally send back signed corrected contract TBS would not contact owners. Would not return my calls. Closing agent said to be patient after 3 weeks had passed. Normal to take 3 month plus to close???? I think they had snail mailed them from a couple of comments closing agent made.
4/4 Opps they forgot to send back a signed DEED
4/8 Deed sent back FedEx after I say I will pay for it. Arrives next day, who uses snail mail anymore for property transactions
4/9 Electronically submitted to County
4/10 Sent to Disney expected wait 2 weeks
4/12 Try to rent points on board. DIS member mentions 30% off discount on rooms. Thanks to those folks!! Exhausted I book trip in June to WDW thru Disney pay $$$ No longer stressed we will make it to Disney in June one way or another. Just more $$$
4/14 Waiting still Waiting
4/19 Receive membership number in mail oh happy day
4/20 Call Member Services they book reservation and activate my online account. Cancel rooms with Disney
4/21 Warn others on forum, BBB and Angie's List.

Thank you to everyone that gave me advice and offered to rent points, I was stressed out over family vacation being on shaky ground because of my choice of Brokers. It was a great price and through out I thought is would be done soon. The boards were like therapy. Now in a happy place.
:cool1:

I am so glad you're happy now! As I posted in the thread I started, the broker does matter. I wouldn't have realized how much before I got into all this. I have a hearty recommendation for TSS and Magic Vacation Title.

Wow that sounds like a nightmare! I am not a patient person and buying Resale tries my patience to the limit but at least my brokers have been good and both times it has been less than 6 weeks from offer to closing!

we went direct but i am curious...

was this your first? ( as comparing to a previous experience)

since we never purchase a resale....did you have specific
expectations prior & where did they come from ? ( did their
first rep. made promises in the beginning)

was there a single thing they did or didn't do that worst than
the other things ?

was there things you thought they should have done based on
something you read about others but they didn't treat
you the same way---that is, compare to those that had
purchased before ?

do you think this was an one time problem caused by losing
your first rep.?

good luck on your first trip & problem free. :wizard:

Yes this was our first we did a direct and backed out in 2009 didn't know about resales just changed our minds.

Thought it would be a 2 month turnaround based on post's here and agent who said about 8-10 weeks, willing to wait for the price we got effectively $43.00 per point. We got 320 at $17000 with 2012 pts free they paid closing and MF so subtracted 3200 from 17K so 13800/320=43.12

was there a single thing they did or didn't do that worst than
the other things ?

No return calls, no emails to inform. Asked for owner or manager never a return call apology nothing.

something you read about others but they didn't treat
you the same way---that is, compare to those that had
purchased before ?

Communication is key in any long distance transaction. I own a General Contracting Company with salesman and I can't preach it enough. The customer needs to be informed even if it is a delay or surprise. I also have bought and sold many properties but this is my first timeshare.

do you think this was an one time problem caused by losing
your first rep.?

No, I gave them the benefit of the doubt initially but they never assigned a new person never received an email nothing. Found out from the closing agent she was gone no explanation. She was not the best either but gave her a hall pass as she was battling the flu and seemed concerned when we communicated via phone and email. It didn't seem to me to really be her responsibility quite honestly. Didn't want to alienate the one person who seemed to care.

good luck on your first trip & problem free. :wizard:

Thanks!!

Glad you made it through. What resort did you book for your June trip...I'm going to guess SSR?

You are correct! We have stayed there before and I was kinda surprised they had availability at 7 weeks. Really happy they did, we had booked dining, flights, and planned our summer around trip.

Yay...glad it all worked out...talk about down to the wire.

I am a planner, rather be early than late sorta person. This was a real ordeal for me dealing with a company that does not value ones time. I could not believe SSR was available. So I am thinking there is no need to book 11 months in advance there. Actually I knew that. We bought there because I like the atmosphere and its on the golf course.

I'm just now looking at buying on the resale market and found this thread useful. Could you clarify something for me...is Timeshare Broker Services the same at the Timeshare Store? Right now I'm so new to this I only know of the Timeshare Store and DVC Resale. I want to stay away from the bad guys.

They are different. The Timeshare Store is good. Www.dvcstore.com. I also recommend www.dvcbyresale.com

thank you very much, :flower3:

i think this was a good post to guide any person from them.

wow...when their business depends on their reputation , it's
hard to figure their lack of developing positive relationships
your experiences sold me...that we will look elsewhere & the
"type" of presentations we should depend on.

we brought in direct before blt opened- because that's where we
wanted to be in 2009. but we first started 2002. however,
i think we will keep all our options opened including resales.

the one thing i like to see in our dvc ownership is a better communication
process for owners & dvc monitors to work together....i don't
think an once a year meeting is helping owners @ all. and from just
monitoring here & other sites, the are more internal problems
then the system should be tolerating.

but if ever expand our interests, i plan on using your advice. thanks
again!

We are in the middle of dealing with the same people. They are awful! Hardly ever return our calls and when they do they say "It's a process." With no expected day to close on our contract. Stay away from the Timeshare Broker Service company!

Sorry to hear you are in for a ride. Make sure they send it to ROFR promptly ours sat for nearly 2 weeks. They forgot? The closing company is named Timeshare Closing Services awfully similar name and just a step above.

They sent it to ROFR, but it sat there for a week before they did it. Thankfully, our contract passed. They said ROFR didn't get sent over sooner because the person handling it quit. Whatever...... We sent in our paperwork by next day air by May 1st like they asked, but the seller didn't turn theirs in until a few days after. We called to asked about how long it would take to close and they just put us off. I think my husband put in 10 calls in the past 6 weeks trying to get them to communicate with us. They are unprofessional to say the least! We found out we passed ROFR 2 weeks ago, but who knows how long it will take to close. :confused3

Congrats on passing ROFR that is a step closer. It took over two months after ours passed to get to use our points. They are not professional at all.

"Bonnie" Quit in the middle of my ROFR supposedly. Seems like a common refrain to blame someone else. Insist they Fedex even if you have to pay otherwise they mail it and claim it must have gotten lost or whatever.
