The Frump Takes Over the World: Food Edition! A DR with Extra Magic! Update- 11/14

Chapter 3: Downtown DisNOMS!

August 15th, 2012

For lunch, Mom ordered the Rotisserie Turkey Cobb Salad. She immediately became obsessed with it and wants to order it every time since then. Delish!

Scott went with the Pesto Chicken sandwich with WPE's yummy fries. I actually ended up getting this later in the trip and MAN is it good! Not too much pesto, nothing's overpowering, and really fresh. Perfect! And of course the fries are just to die for.

For their dessert, Mom and Scott each went with the Creme Brulee cheesecake, which they loved! I tried a bite and didn't want to give it back. So good.

For her meal, Sarah went with her WPE fave, the mac and cheese!

dscn1667t.jpg

YUM YUM YUM. You really can't go wrong with this. The flavors are unparalleled. Such a gourmet spin on a classic. She loves it!

dsc09889j.jpg

For me, well, I went with not only my WPE fave, but also one of my favorite foods in the ENTIRE WORLD. It's seriously that good. What could I be referring to? Why, the Four Cheese Pesto Pizza of course!

dscn1666c.jpg

SO perfect. Thin crust, fresh tomatoes and basil, yummy pesto, the most wonderful goat cheese ever...it's just all of my favorite things on the most yummy pizza ever. I swear by it. It's the best.

Happy Frumps:

For our dessert, Sarah and I went with the frozen yogurt with yummy toppings. I wanted strawberries on mine but they forgot them. No big, it was still delicious!

dsc09893nd.jpg

They did bring these when we were finished with our meals as opposed to with the food so they wouldn't melt. Just like a TS!

After lunch, we decided to do some shopping!

dscn1672f.jpg

What a Frump.

Mom's new phone case that she got, among many other things. So cute:

After a fun afternoon of shopping and overspending, we hopped the first bus to a resort that came so we could get to DAK for our dinner ADR. That resort just so happened to be the Contemporary! A little out of the way, but it would have figured to be about the same amount of time if we had waited for a resort bus closer to AK.

The beautiful Bay Lake Tower. I still can't believe I was lucky enough to stay there.

We hopped a bus in no time and arrived shortly after that at Animal Kingdom!

dscn1681s.jpg

We checked in for our ADR at Rainforest Cafe, which is a beginning of the trip tradition for us. We were seated next to the fountain with the monkeys!

dscn1688m.jpg

Our server was Gladys and she was so nice! Very attentive and friendly.

We ordered smoothies to start.

I believe Sarah had the Raspberry Lemonade and I had the Orange Dream one. Yummo.

For her meal, Sarah ordered the New England Clam Chowder, or the "Seaside Chowder," which is served in a kettle-like bowl and is SO GOOD. Creamy and delicious.

For our meals, Mom and I (and Scott too, I think) went with our favorite:

The Caribbean Coconut Shrimp!

YUM that stuff never stops being delicious. The rice pilaf and veggies were tasty and flavorful as well. Such a perfect meal.

We used our DVC discount, paid, and then left DAK as it was starting to rain. We only waited a couple minutes for a bus back to Kidani. The bus was full, and I actually had to stand withOUT handrails. Good thing I'm a pro. Piece of cake.

We got back to Kidani and saw some lightning through the lobby windows, which was basically the coolest thing EVER. Then mom and I went into this room to the right of the lobby with a fireplace and all these artifacts, where this GORGEOUS and a half CM was teaching about African culture. we listened for a few minutes. I love that Kidani does that! It just adds to the authenticity. It's so cool. Then we went upstairs, I took a shower, and we went to bed somewhat "early." We had a busy day tomorrow!

Oh! And for those of you who are wondering, this is what the couch looks like pulled out:

Pretty comfy and still plenty of room to walk around it.

The Road Trip begins!!!! To the ultimate destination of course! :) Love seeing that sign.

I love road trip food... for some reason it's just better. Perhaps its the excitement of the destination. :upsidedow

I think I'm missing out because I've only had sandwiches and soup at Panera -not breakfast. That cinnamon crunch bagel looks pretty good.

Kidani is so beautiful. GET OUT! They have night vision goggles?? That is awesome. Everything about AKL is just so awesome. Love it!

WPE is a great way to start Disney Dining!! :thumbsup2

Yes of course! AH the Gates of Heaven...

I think it must be! It's always so good!

Ohhh yes you are! Panera for breakfast is great! You must try it sometime.

Yeah they do! It's fantastic.

I agree! :thumbsup2

I love how this is more like a normal TR than just a DR. Absolutely no one is mad!!!

That Chicken Pesto sandwich looks and sounds SOOO GOOD. I always tell myself I am going to get something different at WPE for a change and I never do because that pizza and mac & cheese is basically the highlight of my life. I really want to try the bacon wrapped meatloaf too and there's a bunch of other stuff I'm forgetting now, but EVERYTHING looks so perfect. I also have to make it a point to finally go there for breakfast!! In conclusion: WPE RULES.

My head is spinning at all the trips in your signature. You are an absurdly lucky person!!! I especially can't wait to hear about Vegas & Disneyland! Lee-Anne wants to go to Vegas when Hanson's there, and I'm like OH LORD. That might kill me.

I love the updates so far.

Panera! Love it! I'm a huge Panera fan. Just had it yesterday in fact! My favorite sandwich right now is the Frontega Chicken! Yummo!!

Can't wait to read more!

Ok, my little frump friend, you were on a posting binge! I should have waited just a little longer to comment....

I wouldn't know what anything else at WPE tastes like since I have ONLY EVER ordered the four cheese pesto pizza. As long as they have that pizza I have no reason to stray to any other dish. That good! :thumbsup2 (Scott's sandwich does look tempting though....)

As for RFC, if 3 of you ordered the Caribbean coconut shrimp skewers then it must be good. That or someone in your party is very influential. :lmao: We'll go with good because it does look rather delicious. I wonder if they still do the chocolate lava cake with the sparkler?? Now, that is a way to serve dessert!!!

Hahahah it really is. It's a little less info though, and more food. There are just some non-food things that I simply HAVE to include.

It IS. I love it. It's so hard for me to deviate from my favs but sometimes it's worth it! WPE is perfect.

I know I'm so insanely blessed. I cannot WAIT for them all! There will be reports on all of them! Jess is doing the one for May/June in her DCP Diary, and I'll be doing a TR for DL/Vegas/D.C. and probably a DR for WDW in August. Ahh Hanson in Vegas!? Girl you might just HAVE TO.

I was! 3 updates seems like nothing compared to my record of 22 though. :rotfl2: I totally don't mind that you commented twice though! Comment away. :goodvibes

It is just the best thing on their whole menu. It's really hard for me not to order it. That said, Scott's sandwich is probably my new second favorite thing.

Oh it is sooo good! I've been ordering that almost every time I go there for as long as I can remember. Delicious. They do still have the chocolate volcano with the sparkler! YUMMO.

Just checked the Dis for the first time in ages (for me anyway ) - it's so exciting to see that you've started a dining report!

I've only had time to read the most recent update, but WPE looks incredible. Amazing pictures too - you definitely sold me on the pesto pizza :thumbsup2

Since I love reading the Frump TR so much, I am gonna try my hardest to comment and not just be a lurker for this one. Because food.

I think eating guacamole with a spoon should be socially acceptable. I'll join in on you with that.

I would have thought your home resort was BLT just from how I interpret things from your twitter :lmao: I'm now excited to see your pictures from Kidani! I wanna stay there some day

Hey there! Welcome aboard! :thumbsup2

Oh it IS. Best CS on property, IMO. The pizza is to DIE for.

Haha well :welcome: Glad you're here and commenting!

That would be great. Then I wouldn't feel so utterly strange.

Haha I absolutely LOVE BLT. That would be my home if I had any say. I just love all the resorts. They're all my home!

Fantastic review so far, and great pics!

Thanks so much! Glad you're enjoying it!

I like that you guys drive to Florida. Haha, makes my family not sound so wackadoo for driving too! We're in NYC, so we're 19 hours away, not including the same traffic we always hit around Wash DC and all those other places. I absolutely love getting farther down south. The hotel we stay at in NC has biscuits and gravy for breakfast, and I am a HUGE FAN.

Personally, I totally think it's socially acceptable to eat guacamole with a spoon. I mean, if Paula Deen can go crazy with a stick of butter, we can do the same with guacamole! Plus, guac is way healthier anyway! Haha. I'm the kind of person who will order something on the menu just because it comes with guac or avocado on it. It's an addiction. Try smushed avocado on a toasted bagel ... DELICIOUS! It's what I use instead of cream cheese due to being lactose intolerant.

Yay for KIDANI! It has my all-time favorite restaurant ... Sanaa! Delish!

Can you finish that entire pizza from WPE? It looks SO good that I want to try it, but it'd only be for me because my husband doesn't like goat cheese.

Yay, the TR begins!

I am loving your posts. Your photo's are awesome and your description of things has me right beside you all.

Wolfgang looked wonderful. I loved Scott modeling the Donald hat and shirt. Your Mom is so pretty, I love her smile. Your sister and you obviously have a good relationship, your photo's together are great!

I am really enjoying all of your photo's. I think this TR has had the best photo's of the resort I've seen. Lightning through the lobby windows of that resort must have been so cool to see.

Looking forward to future posts. Thanks again for sharing. Read you soon. :surfweb:

Wegmans has AWESOME asiago cheese bagels and I could seriously eat one every single day of my life. That one at Panera looks amazing.

Oh Kidani. STOP BEING SO PERFECT.

Excuse me while I die over your food from WPE.

I am really enjoying your DR. Seeing your pictures and reading your descriptions really transports me back to WDW. You have completely sold me on the pizza at WPE. I can't wait to go back and to try it for myself!

Oh, and for what it's worth, I too would eat guacamole with a spoon if it was socially acceptable! And, like a PP, I find myself choosing items from the menu just because they have guacamole or avocado in them.

I'm off to read your previous TRs. I want read more about your adventures!
