Cruisin into Spring Training-VWL & 4 Nt Dream 3/22-28/13 COMPLETE! 8/11

Ok- so 2 years ago, I was able to surprise Tyler with a trip to Disney. I was already bringing Timmy for 3 nights, but Pods was ADAMENT that Tyler could not go because he would miss baseball practice (silly Pods!). TWO DAYS before we left, I got on the phone with my baseball "sisters"- end result, we spoke to the coach (from the other team who was supposed to run the practices over break while our coach was on vacay) and he said, "That's ridiculous! Tell Kenny (Pods) to call me! It's middle school- it doesn't matter-go while you can!"

Funny thing- that coach is now Timmy's coach, and when he found out Timmy would be on a cruise over break instead of at the scrimmages- he said, "So- I hear you'll be taking away my boy on a cruise" and I said, "Yea- I heard it's middle school and it doesn't matter!" :rotfl::rotfl:

Anyway, I thought it might be fun to look at what TYLER'S reaction was at 13 to his surprise. He thought we were going to Physical Therapy, he had a shoulder injury ( yet ANOTHER reason why missing practice was not so important). Funny, how cool HE was at 13, too. And- not to be missed- what 11 year old Timmy's long gone little boy voice had to say from the back seat....

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I love that Timmy is raggin on Tyler for not showing any excitement- LMAO!!! Where was the 11 year old in our back seat when we were going to the Yankees game?? :rotfl2:

Loving this already!! :cool1:

Firstly let me say that Wilderness Lodge is our absolute favourite resort and we have 10 glorious nights at the Villas booked for December :goodvibes

It's wonderful that you lined up such an awesome suprise - you must be the coolest mom right now!

Can't wait to read about the rest of you trip :thumbsup2

Love the video. We are surprising the boys on the last day of school with our trip to WDW. We will leave the next day. Matt turns 12 next week and I hope he still will be excited - I think he will :). I know Shawn who is 9 will be bouncing off the walls.

Enjoying your TR! We stayed at VWL for our first family trip and loved it! Looking forward to reading about the cruise!

Thanks Cheryl! Day 3 we get on the ship- so you will not have long to wait. :goodvibes

Wow! I love his face. Beth asked when are we taking a mom and daughter trip to wdw. Hmmm. I may have to make that work. You are a rock star for pulling that off.

Thank you! I was very excited- I was BURSTING, actually- and you can hear it in my voice when I am asking him where we are going and what we will do there- I was just like, "C'MON TIM!!! ANSWER THE STUPID QUESTIONS SO I CAN TELL YOU!!! I hope you can work it out with Beth-:cutie:

following along. Love reading your other trip reports:)

Thank you!! I had no idea! I enjoy yours, too!

Joining in and will catch up when I get home next week!

Have a great trip!!:wave2:

You have to tell Timmy to hold back his excitement. :rotfl2: You are really the most awesome Mom!

Looking forward to your PM....2 weeks!!!!!

Jill in CO

LMAO- I just posted the video of Tyler because you said that! :rotfl: UBER-Coolness is definitely a trait of 13 year old boys! :rotfl2:

And I PM'd you this morning- :goodvibes See you in the Ditch!! :hyper:

UGGG stupid work, got in the way of me enjoying your trippy and now im all the way on page 3.. BOO lol

Have to say your 1st night sounds so relaxing just dinner and the resort. Sushi did look amazing. Love how Tim looked like he was just tearing those wings up too!

I was actually surprised at how he went after those wings- he sucked those bones dry!! :rotfl: Normally he doesn't like sauce- but I guess Kona was different. :thumbsup2

Oh my waffle... they all looked so good. How did you choose just one? LOL

Timmy chose- I didn't have them- stupid me, trying to be good and eat some protein instead-

And I know I have already told you that you get most aweome mom of the year award but will you adopt me..? That was such an amazing way to surprize him and he fell for it yeah!

I've always wanted a daughter!! Now we can go to the Bippity Boppity Boutique! Which princess do you want to be, Sweetheart? :cutie:

Cant wait to read more, especially your cruise. How neat to do a 1 on 1 trip, what a great memory to give them, and you!! I would love to do that with each of the boys.

It was a great thing- and then when we got home, a week later we went to Rehoboth alone (well, with his team) too- lots of Mommy and me time this spring!! :rotfl:

On a side note.. woohooo 2 weeks YEAH BUDDY!

YEAH BUDDY!!!! :hyper:

Awww...so so sweet!! I have 1 child (who is an adult now) and he still loves to spend time with his momma. I absolutely love it and treasure every moment. Thanks for sharing!

The video is priceless...Timmy trying to stay cool all the while thrilled to be going to the game!:thumbsup2

EXACTLY what he is doing- trying to stay cool- he has a very hard time, though- he is one of those naturally smiley types (can't IMAGINE where he gets it from....). You should see his big s eatin grin when he makes a good play or has a big hit in baseball. :teeth:

I'm back! So cool you loved VWL :thumbsup2 I had the same expectation - we were from the PNW, so I wanted to stay somewhere different and exotic. Then we had dinner over at WCC, and I never wanted to leave. I think it is the most amazing theming they have done! Maybe because it seems so authentic, even the smells like you said. I had the best glass of cab while sitting on a rocking chair and just enjoying the relaxing view. I got homesick and called our parents while sitting on a bench in the back walk at VWL. I can't wait to actually stay there, and now that we are in the South, it will feel different and exotic! :rotfl2:

You are right- it will feel like coming home to you now- in a completely different way!

Dinner at Kona Café looks amazing! I will have to remember how filling the sushi is.

The rolls are VERY big- and I actually ate one of the pieces before I remembered to take the pic.

How fun the way you surprised Tim! His reaction is priceless! :lmao: So fun to see his happy face - great seats, BTW. AND you look fabulous!

I was totally out of my mind excited about the seats- of course, I bought them before half the Yankees went on the DL. :sad2: I spent half the gae asking tim who the players were- of course, he knew them all. :thumbsup2

You pulled it off brilliantly! Love his face when he digs through the goodies. I am sure he was pleased with his seat at the game as well. :thumbsup2
You ARE supermom! :goodvibes

Thank you!!! :cool1: I did feel pretty super-mom-ish! :rotfl:

Hi Ellen! :) Finally chiming in - better late than never! ;) As usual - great report so far! Love that the title is "Mommy and me..." - I can't wait to take my little one on a mommy and me cruise!
Okay...gotta say that the Yankee surprise was so over the top! I love that you captured his reaction on video - he's trying to be so cool but you can tell he is just dying with excitement inside! My sisters family are such huge Yankee fans! Can't wait to tell them about this! They will be so jealous!
My next trip to WDW will include some of the wonderful food you have photographed or spoke about! Some of the ones I want to try are those Mickey waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, the Tonga Toast or Pancakes, the duck breast...okay everything but the sushi!! :rolleyes1 Not a fan. :sad2:
That rain was everything I think! I know it caused our plane on Saturday to be delayed quite a while.
Looking forward to more! ;)

Bette

Wow, just started yesterday and already up to page 4?!

Looking forward to it!

Going back to read now...

ETA- I'm back--

Awesome first night's dinner, Kona Cafe is on my list of places I want to try (a lot of places are LOL) for both Breakfast and dinner. I really want to try those Macadamia nut pancakes and the Tonga toast.

Love the surprise reveal video! He reminds me of my Nephew, I guess all boys that age probably are the same, so contained in their excitement LOL

I remember the one with Tyler's surprise, too, can't believe that was 2 years ago! where does the time do?

you definitely deserve supermom!!!!!!!!!!!

And you are making me really want to do a mom and me trip with each boy.

The funniest part for me was when he ripped the tag off of the T shirt without even looking at it first. Classic!

Love the fact he already had a Yankees shirt on.

The videos are priceless.

And...backtracking as I read the first update on my phone and never posted...

That sushi looked SO good

I love WL but the villas themselves, largely as I am a view junkie, aren't my favorite but I do adore the entire vibe there.

Great job pulling off the surprise, I love it!

YES! I have had both! And I prefer the pancakes or the Somoan over the tonga toast....not to confuse you further.:rotfl: The Tonga Toast is very, VERY sweet- it is coated in sugar and my teeth ache when I think of it- but my son, Tyler, ADORES it- I think it is his favorite WDW breakfast. We usually manage to order one each of those 3 things and then share. What day are you going? I will be there with 3 of my girlfriends on Saturday morning, May 4th....:dance3:

Well, silly, silly me! I didn't even think that we could order both and share them! Good idea! But thanks for the heads up on the sweetness of the Tonga Toast, I think that breakfast might be to early for too sweet for me.
We are going to be there the morning of the 3rd, :headache: a day too early. Maybe we'll run into you gals somewhere else...

10 nights in December? That must be the absolute BEST time to be there! I am very envious. :thumbsup2 I am also envious of your cruise in a little over a month- can't wait to do that one day!

Love the video. We are surprising the boys on the last day of school with our trip to WDW. We will leave the next day. Matt turns 12 next week and I hope he still will be excited - I think he will :). I know Shawn who is 9 will be bouncing off the walls.

That is SO EXCITING!!!!! :cheer2: And I am sure your 12 year old will be thrilled- just remember, even if he isn't showing it on the outside, he is :jumping1: on the inside. :rotfl:

Awww...so so sweet!! I have 1 child (who is an adult now) and he still loves to spend time with his momma. I absolutely love it and treasure every moment. Thanks for sharing!

That's wonderful- I truly hope I am that fortunate when my boys are grown. :grouphug:

Another priceless reaction.. ;)

Jill in CO

Yea- Timmy is at a baseball tournament out on Long Island this weekend, but when he gets home I will be playing both of those for him for SURE! :rotfl2:

Awww...great video! Best Mom award....definitely.

Thank you!!

Hi Bette! Thanks for coming to read! I hope you do put Kona on your must do list next time- especially for breakfast- it's a really good experience!

The weather was so weird on this vacation, wasn't it? I was not complaining, I was happy to be there irregardless, but it was a little wild at times, that's for sure! :scared1:

well I'm working on one for my back-2-back on the Fantasy:)

I know- I started reading it last night!

nice job with the surprise! :thumbsup2

Thank you! It was SOOO much fun for me! :goodvibes

Awesome first night's dinner, Kona Cafe is on my list of places I want to try (a lot of places are LOL) for both Breakfast and dinner. I really want to try those Macadamia nut pancakes and the Tonga toast.

Don't forget the Samoan at breakfast, too- also really delicious! It is definitely my favorite breakfast in WDW- I have already decided I'll be having the Mac nut pancakes 2 weeks from today- last visit I had pumpkin pancakes, they were a special. :goodvibes

Love the surprise reveal video! He reminds me of my Nephew, I guess all boys that age probably are the same, so contained in their excitement LOL

They make me crazy these too cool boys!!

I remember the one with Tyler's surprise, too, can't believe that was 2 years ago! where does the time do?

I don't know- time is flying by- Tyler is half way done with high school- and I feel like I was lining up at preschool waiting for him to come out about 5 minutes ago. So sad. You really need to treasure every moment. ::yes::

you definitely deserve supermom!!!!!!!!!!!

And you are making me really want to do a mom and me trip with each boy.

The funniest part for me was when he ripped the tag off of the T shirt without even looking at it first. Classic!

Yea! Such a boy thing!!:rotfl:

Love the fact he already had a Yankees shirt on.

I know! I was laughing when I saw him get dressed that morning. I had mine on too, well hidden under my sweatshirt. :thumbsup2

The videos are priceless.

And...backtracking as I read the first update on my phone and never posted...

I love WL but the villas themselves, largely as I am a view junkie, aren't my favorite but I do adore the entire vibe there.

What- you have something against dumpsters? They deserve love too! :rotfl: I am big on views, too, so I get what you're saying. Really love the vibe there, though.

Great job pulling off the surprise, I love it!

So last nite I was trying to catch up on your thread- and I got to the part about Denny and freaked! So glad he is ok! I was texting with ME last night, I felt so bad because we had texted while she was away in HHI, and I was so busy laughing about the message she sent me, (Dottie who works there said hello and tell Ellen to get her a$$ back down here :rotfl:)- meanwhile there was all this going on! Terrible! I need to find more time to DIS- I am missing EVERYTHING!

Super duper sweet, that Tonga Toast. Hope you do run into us- we'll be the ones laughing constantly, hard to miss! :rotfl2:

So...back at Tiger Stadium, the BP was winding down...

And the game started-

Ichiro Suzuki

Brett Gardner-

Andy Pettitte was pitching-

Travis Hafner

Kevin Youkilis- man, does he have a crazy swing! I bet growing up there must have been coach after coach who tried to change it- but SOMEBODY must have said leave it alone! If it ain't broke, don't fix it! Because he really connects with that ball-

Click to play-

The dugout-

Well, our favorite boys of summer got their clocks cleaned that day, but we still had fun- and Timmy thought it was AWESOME!!!!

So glad I got to do that with my baby boy!

I just played both videos for Tyler- we both had a good laugh over 1. Tim's voice and 2. The fact that 13 year old boys are just so stupid! :rotfl2: Seriously- Tyler said, "What's wrong with me?" LMAO-

Anywho....so 40 minutes later, we were

back to WDW, and headed to VWL to drop off some stuff before we headed over to Epcot for a quick ride on the new Test Track-

The flowers at WL were gorgeous- I adore foxgloves, so beautiful!

Again- more foxgloves on the way back to the car-

Our sweet $67 ride...

Up next- EPCOT, baby! The abridged version! :rotfl:

Great shots of all the baseball action, you must have a had a good spot. I love your smiling faces, we can tell from your photos what a special time the two of you are having.
