Teena: prayers and hugs for tomorrow. Have a wonderful cruise!!

Mousemommy1: I'm so jealous!!! Have a great time! :)

Just got back from getting my haircut. Hair has to be nice and short for the cruise ... lots of swimming! Off to the Mayo Clinic tomorrow for check-up. Keeping my fingers crossed! Then home on Friday to pack and off to the Disney Fantasy on Saturday morning. Knowing I'm going on the cruise makes tomorrow's trip to the Mayo Clinic not so bad.

Thinking good thoughts for tomorrow! Have an amazing trip and enjoy Castaway Cay!!

Regarding the walk/boat to DHS and Epcot . . . I almost always lobby for the walk to both DHS and Epcot - even in the summer. And on the way to DHS, we always walk and beat the boat. But I'll admit the boat is a nice alternative on the way home from DHS, especially in the heat or at the end of a day.

A small confession about the boat to/fro Epcot: After over 20 years of Epcot resort stays, we took the boat home from Epcot for the first time in January! We laughed the whole way because we always joked about that boat to/fro Epcot from YC/BC/BWI, wondering who would take that boat when the walk is so short! Well, we finally did because my husband was carrying our sleeping 6-year-old after Illuminations one night, and we were exhausted. It's a "never say never" story.

, as always, you are in our thoughts and prayers. Please let us know how it goes at Mayo, and we'll share with my parents - as a fellow victor, my mom always appreciates hearing your good news! So excited for your cruise! :)

And mousemommy, have a wonderful trip!!! So happy for you!

Good luck Teena. Will say a prayer that things go well. have a fantastic time on your cruise.

Thinking of you, Teena!

Well, finally got up the nerve to mention the BC trip to DH and he said it sounded like fun!! So, not to jinx myself, but put us down for a tentative stay August 17 to 24. I'm going to start looking at rooms and possible ADRs tomorrow!

:wave2:
:welcome: and thanks for the intro!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:cool1:

The one thing to know as a first time guest is just how great it is to be able to stroll on over to EPCOT in about 5 minutes! And to have really easy access to Hollywood Studios as well.

Hope you love it!!!

Thank you! :goodvibes I am sure we will LOVE the proximity to EPCOT!

Welcome Lynette!!! I'd say you picked an excellent resort for your "away from AKL test" :) The CM's are great! SAB is a must mid-day break. And our favorite part is the nightly stroll over to EPCOT for dinner, an adult beverage, and my two favorite snacks..............Pretzel in Germany and Caramel chocolate covered pineapple with a side of Dark Chocolate sea salt caramel :cool1:

Enjoy Your Stay :thumbsup2

Thanks, ocalla! I am a gourmet food buyer by trade, and my family has become quite a group of foodies. We love working our way through EPCOT and trying as many snacks and goodies as we can get our hands on. Those sound like good suggestions! And as for the adult beverages, well....I suppose my arm could be twisted.......;)

Also, we've never really done the whole mid-day back-to-the-resort thing because (as I'm sure you know) AKL takes a fair amount of time to travel back and forth to. I'm betting that my family will be more amenable to mid-day resort breaks at BC, since it's so much closer to everything.

Hi Lynette :) You guys are going to LOVE love love the Beach Club! :thumbsup2 Being able to walk to Epcot, or even just walk down to the Boardwalk, is so fun! It's a totally different experience than staying at AKL. My DH loves that area so much, all the food, the action, things to do, places to go, I can't even get him back to AKL. ;)

Hi yourself! :) My DH already loves that whole area, so I'm sure that spending more time there will be right up his alley! The kids were "all in" once I showed them photos of SAB. I am feeling better and better about this decision!

Welcome! I think you will love the BC! It has a great location and the pool and CMs are the best at Disney! SAB has something for everyone. If your children are young, the zero entry sand bottom pool is great, and if they like slides, this one can't be beat. Our family loves it here. In fact, we have a hard time choosing anywhere else. On our next trip we are trying AKL for the first time, but we are doing a split stay so we won't miss BCV, our favorite. If you haven't checked out the first page of this thread, it has tons of great info.

Thanks for the welcome, disneymom! My kids are 13 and 12. They are thrilled to be trying out SAB! I sat with them and showed them the photos from the beginning of this thread, and that's how I won them over!

I hope you like AKL! I am completely enamored of that resort. I've felt that way since the first time I walked into that amazing lobby! So much to love about it! When are you going?

They just pour leftover "coffee" from mugs they find lying around the day before into one big vat...

Ack! I thought the recipe consisted of them waving a stale coffee bean over some stagnant water and calling it coffee. I stand corrected. :thumbsup2

:welcome: :grouphug:

I think it's all in how you think about it. AKL will still be there for the next trip so try to think of it as an adventure. I would also plan a meal at the lodge so you all can stop by and say hello to your much loved location. That's what we do when we aren't staying at the Beach Club. For our last trip we stayed at POFQ but we stopped at the BC twice, once to see Teena again and once to have Ice Cream at Beaches and Cream! I always tell myself that one day I'll be back to my favorite location, and staying at the other places keeps it fresh and exciting.

Thanks for the welcome, Ninja Mom! Yes, it wouldn't be a complete Disney trip without at least one meal at Boma. And seeing this as an adventure is a great way to look at it! No matter where we stay, the point is that it's all Disney time, right? ::yes::

Thanks again for being so welcoming, everyone! :goodvibes

We are headed there in August. Really excited to try it out. :) We also are going to try Sanaa and Boma for the first time too. Can't wait! I think your kids will really like SAB and walking to 2 parks. More time on rides than sitting on buses.

Exactly! Any time I can minimize my time on buses is a good thing!

I've never been to Sanaa, but we eat at Boma at least once during every trip...sometimes twice! There are lots of things that we love so much from Boma that I've gotten the recipes and now make them at home. Even The Mara has a few options that are not run of the mill resort CS meals.

Just saw my name on the BOG list, and it made me ridiculously happy. Don't judge me though, 'kay? :rotfl:

Boy, your trip comes up quick when you book a couple of weeks out! Have a fantastic time!!! I know you will send me pictures when you hit US soil. I'll post them on the Lily thread.

I have added you to the Be Our Guest list. Please let us know if you have any questions!

Thanks. We made some preliminary dinner reservations, couldn't get into Ohana before 9:30 any night. Oh well... it's a little less stressed knowing we'll be able to eat dinner before 9 every day ;-)

Does the magical express come 3 hours early with an 8AM flight? Getting everyone out be 5am should be an adventure....

I was having problems with finding a reservations for Ohana too until I took the suggestions from this board & increased my reservation by 1 person & then found reservations! :goodvibes

Excellent! I'll try that tomorrow...

Thanks for the tip

Thinking of you Teena and will be anxiously awaiting an all clear signal from you.

Quick question that may have been addressed in the months after the closing of Hostess when I was away from the boards....

But, now that Hostess is no longer in business, are you able to get your beloved Tastykakes down in Florida?

We have them in Ohio now so just tried them for the first time myself. Let me know if you are still left out of the yummy loop.

Can't believe it is time for you to set sail ... Enjoy!
