Kids in club level lounge?

So, we are returning to AKL club level. I have 2 DD, ages 10 and 12. At AKL, the club level is on 6, but the standard rooms are on 4. Trying to decide if I am comfortable with the girls walking to the lounge together, without me or DH. And if so, is it acceptable, allowed for kids that age to be there unaccompanied?

I honestly don't know if there's a rule against it. Personally, I wouldn't let my DD go without an adult. It's too far, too many strangers, too many things could happen, just my opinion.

We did it at Sugarloaf at the GF-girls were 9 and 12. Pretty self-contained. I'm not familiar with the AKL. What if they had phones? Or walkie-talkies?

I think it depends on the kids/family. Are they allowed to go to/hang out by the pool alone? Split up from you at the parks? If not, I would probably not send them to the lounge alone. While it would PROBABLY be fine, there will be adults who may be drinking, and I am just very cautious.

We have mainly stayed club level, but never took notice of any age guidelines. We always went to the lounge together. This is not something you need to decide now. Just wait until you get there and check things out for yourself. Talk with the CL CMs and go from there, but things are changing at Disney with unaccompanied minors. I would think club level would maintain a level of customer relations

I would totally let my kids go to the club level at that age , provided they agree to stay together. Even from another floor, it's at most a three minute walk. I let my two girls walk around Epcot at that age as well while we went to the American adventure. Everyone should do as they see fit with their own kids, but I think small doses of independence are really healthy.

Kids are allowed wandering inside the parks at 7 years old as long as somebody 14 or older accompanies them through the gates. I'd say that means they're allowed to go up to the lounge without an adult. I'm not saying I'd let a 7 year old go alone; I'm saying it should be allowed based on the rules for the parks.

At 10 and 12 I'd let them go together as long as I'd gone over rules for expected behaviour (this includes both safety rules and manners rules) have been reviewed and I knew I could trust them to follow those rules. Some kids can handle this and some can't. You have to know your own kids.

BTW The OP asked about going to lounge together. Personally I'd rather have the 2 kids go together than just the older one by herself-in case something happens.

I probably should excuse myself from this discussion since my then 9 year old went to the Arcade at the BC alone the first morning we got there! I would absolutely allow that. A friend and I were talking about traveling to the BC with our families and if we do, we will probably be allowing our kids (then almost 13 year old girls and 11 year old boys, 2 of each) go to Epcot together for short stints. They will all have cell phones.

Except guests under age 14 will need to be accompanied by a guest age 14 or older when entering Epcot (we well as some of the other parks).

Wait til you get there to see what your vibes are. My kids are age 10 and we recently had a CL room right next to the CL lounge at CR; therefore, we would let our kids go get a drink out of the fridge and come right back to the room. To be honest, I would stand at the doorway and watch them. You have an older child, though, so it's hard for me to know how I'd feel with an age 12 child (I might be more willing). It's the different floor thing that I'm not sure about, but why not just wait til you get there and see how it feels. I remember seeing something in writing about the age of the children that must be accompanied by an adult, but I can't remember the age.

I believe the age for children to enter the lounge unaccompanied is 10.

Just curious on what fact/info are you basing this thought. And does it vary per resort?

I've never seen any signage about ages. They may exist, but I have no clue. I have seen younger kids run in and grab a soda, etc and no one seemed to mind.

As a parent, I would have no problem with the two girls going together. It would be a good experience at independence for them, and you, lol. Send them with a cell phone and have them text when they get there.

Have not ever been to AKL club but I do have kids of similar ages. My boys are now 14 and 11. Last summer we were on Hard Rock Universal Club level and I think we let both boys be alone in the club (but I think just in the morning?). And our room was just down the hall from the Club lounge. We were waking up at different times of the day. We have also let our older son join us later for breakfast at hotel chains that offer free breakfast. But those hotels are typically smaller and he was joining us for breakfast later since he slept in later. We have let our boys go on their own to refill refillable mugs at Disney. We have been on Club level at a Hyatt in our home state and the club lounge was very difficult to find and not well marked. I don't think I would have let them go to that one alone. I have spent some time at AKL (from stays at Kidani) and the resort is not huge and there are always plenty of cast members around. I don't think I would have a problem letting my kids go alone but you know your own kids best.
