We have also received an update this morning from MickQuinn.

This was from their lunch at Magic Kingdom's...

Be our Guest

She said, "We wanted to see the Beast's castle so we waited in line to order lunch. From lining up to being served it took about 35 minutes."

"The was plenty to look at while we waited in line..."

Braised Pork (Coq Au Vin style) - eight-hour slow-cooked pork with mushrooms, onions, carrots and bacon served with mashed potatoes and green beans jardiniere

"I had the braised pork. Best counter service meal ever! The pork was tender and flavorful, crisp green beans and yummy mashed potatoes."

"We ordered the French onion soup. It was good but quite salty...and we love salt."

Grilled Steak Sandwich with garlic butter spread and pommes frites

"Quinn ate about half his grilled steak sandwich. The steak was good but the sandwich needed more of a spread or dressing."

Carved Turkey Sandwich served on a warm baguette with Dijon mayonnaise and Pomme Frites

"DH had the carved turkey sandwich. He liked it well enough."

Kids Mickey Meatloaf - Turkey meatloaf with broccoli florets and zucchini served with carrot catsup

"Pepere had the Kid's meatloaf. He insisted on this even though we told him at was made with turkey and veggies. I don't think he cared for it much at all."

"For dessert we shared the strawberry cream cheese cupcake and lemon cream puff. They were okay... But Quinn said the cupcakes we make at home are better. Glad we have them a try, but nothing I would order again."

"Quinn is a cupcake connoisseur. This is the back of a shirt we made for him."

Well hi there Alice! Glad to hear that you have another trip in the works. At this point I'm only willing to commit through the month of August, but if the Live Thread should still be around in October then I would love to have you as a reporter again. :thumbsup2

Ooooooh, Barb! I volunteer for August as well! Happy that you plan to continue the thread. Andrew and I plan on traveling from the 10th thru the 20th. I am making it my mission to eat at as many new restaurants as we can. If we are going to repeat a restauant, I am trying to make it one that we did not eat at in November or March (with the exception of Y&Y where we did eat in November).

Time to announce another of our Top 5 scorers for the

February/March Game

I am now featuring our...

#2 - nicole0992

nicole0992 traveled to Disney World to visit her daughter who is doing the Disney College Program. She and her other daughters were there from 2/9 - 2/17. nicole scored 167 points with the many updates she sent us during her trip.

Here are some of my favorite pics from her updates.

La Cantina de San Angel

"We chose an order of nachos with the meat and beans served on the side. They were delicious and really hit the spot. Lots of cheese, fresh tomatoes and sliced jalapenos. Also chose an order of cheese empanadas. These were fresh and wonderful. The chips served along side were very fresh and crunchy."

Cavatappi Chicken Alfredo with peas, bacon and parmesan

"I had the cavatappi. This is so delicious! The corkscrew shaped pasta was perfectly cooked and served with Alfredo sauce that's not too heavy. The peas are crisp and fresh, not mushy at all. The bacon crumbles provided a nice crunch to the dish. The chicken is julienned and was great as well."

Half Rotisserie Chicken with garlic butter, rosemary and mashed potatoes

"Oldest daughter had the chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans. She loved it. The chicken was cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned. The mashed potatoes were so creamy and definitely real potatoes. These were topped with a light gravy and fresh chopped chives."

Spaghetti and "Meatballs" - Multi-grain spaghetti and vegetarian meatballs with Dad's Marinara Sauce

"My youngest didn't know what to get. She finally decided on the spaghetti with vegetarian meatballs. Bad choice for her. It was loaded with mushrooms and lots of chunky tomato sauce. She also didn't like the taste or texture of the meatballs. I tasted it and it was fine if you are vegetarian and like this sort of dish but there are much better choices here. Sauce was on par with Tony's Town Square."

And for dessert...

"The brownie sundae was delicious! Served a la mode with vanilla cream. The girls cleaned the plate!"

"Since my daughter just picked at her dish, Cousin Cooper wasn't having none of this moving food around to get dessert! ;) So we were served our brownie sundae and she was served her plate of spaghetti and meatballs with whipped cream, m & m's, and sprinkles. It was hysterical!" :lmao:

Yahoo!! It is SO exciting to see my name up on that list- makes the trip feel more real than getting any confirmation email or paying any deposit.

Thank you so much for taking this project on through the month of August- it remains a highlight of my day to take a quick trip to WDW and drool over all the delicious food. :cloud9:

And you will be the second, Vicki! To be honest, you are part of the reason why I knew that I needed to keep this going at least through August. I am honored! And I will send more updates in August than we did in March. It was such a short trip, I sort of lost track of things. I will be a better reporter! :)

I'd like to do some live reporting in August as well. We will be in WDW from 8/13 to 8/22 staying WL - Old Faithful Club. We have several meals booked: Be Our Guest, 'Ohana (dinner and breakfast), Crystal Palace (bfast), Mickey's Backyard BBQ and Lunch with an Imagineer at Hollywood Brown Derby.

Let me know how to go about this live reporting. Thanks!!

I love this thread - really appreciate all the effort you put in to keep it going

We will be in WDW 8th-25th August, followed by a short cruise on the Disney Dream. Would love to contribute if you can tell me how. We're also from the UK so reliant on the wifi.

Hi Jeanette! 17 days at WDW plus a Disney cruise...that's so awesome!!! :cool1: Thanks for volunteering and welcome to the August Live Reporting Team!

I can try, if iphone pictures are sufficient. We have a pretty good lineup and our dates are 6/29-7/6 at the poly. :)

Now I am very happy to announce the top scorer of the

February/March Game

and winner of a (no expense ;) ) paid trip to Disney World is...

#1 - :worship: superchime

superchime and family were at Disney World from 2/26 - 3/6.
She scored 177 points with the many updates she sent us during her trip.

Here are some of my favorite pics from her updates.

Vegetarian Pasta Piquant with spinach and goat cheese

"This had a little kick to it, which I liked. They also threw in some extra veggies to make up for the lack of meat."

"This was the only vegetarian option listed on the menu (besides salads) but our waitress said they could work up other options on the fly. We'll eat there again later in the week, so I appreciate that. I also explained the game to our waitress when she wondered why I was photographing the food."

Hi Barb. I know you forgot me for August, cause I volunteered back in January after our trip then :lmao: Anyway, we will be there from 8/11-8/24! It will be a split stay between POR riverside and AKL club level! WE also will be celebrating dd's 21st birthday, so lots of drink photos as well as food! I'd love to contribute if you have room for me!
