I like the subtleness of the makeup you've picked out for the bridesmaids...and yes, I feel like it's a softer version of yours (well, the second makeup picture you posted, I'm not sure if that's the one you decided to go with).
I do still like the first hairstyle you posted for bridesmaids, but I can't deny that I like the softness of this one and I feel like a softer look is more along the lines of what you're going for in the theming. It just doesn't hit me as a 1940s hairstyle....though that doesn't necessarily mean it can't be.

Those are cute dresses and your headpiece is AMAZING!!! It is so unique and fits your theme. I love the makeup for the girls. I do also like the second hairstyle, I think with all of your elements it could convey the 40s style. I think on it's own, it doesn't strike me as too 40s. I can't wait to see how it comes together, your day is coming up so fast.

Thank you! I agree with you on the hair and I'm still hunting for more inspiration. There must be some photo out there that has a softer romantic look, but with some element that makes it quintessentially vintage. If worse comes to worse, hopefully I can just explain the thought process to the hairstylist and they'll understand what I mean.
Thank you! That's what I was thinking with that hairstyle, it might not have the exact vintage look on its own, but when it's beside other more vintage looks it might fit in and look just fine.

Next Honeymoon plans!
As of this week, we finally have all the plans settled and booked. I honestly still cannot believe what my honeymoon is going to be, I'm just so happy! And to top it off it was all DF's idea!
After the wedding reception as our guests are whisked back to their resorts, DF and I will check-in at the Grand Floridian for the rest of our stay in WDW.
So after the wedding day we will be staying at the GF until Saturday. We were initially debating if we could afford the GF, but because my parents are paying for my accommodations before the wedding, we decided we could swing it. We aren't going to do any room upgrades or anything, we'll just get what we get, although I was sure to request a King bedroom when we made the reservation. Hopefully we can at least get that!
After a lot of debating and some guilt-tripping from various family members we aren't going to spend our time at WDW totally alone. On Wednesday we are going to have a family dinner at O'hana with my parents, DF's parents and FBIL, FSIL and his two year-old niece. And on Thursday I've agreed to a park day at Hollywood Studios with my parents and my aunt, uncle, cousin and his girlfriend. And whoever else is around and plans on joining. We may or may not have a park day with some of DF's family, I'm leaving that up to him to set up if he chooses. I also have all our ADRs in place and I'm pretty psyched. Here's our rough schedule so far:
Tuesday:
-We are going to relax, sleep in and (probably) crash at GF. We may hit the parks, but I'm thinking it is the perfect day to just enjoy the resort.
-We have an early dinner reservation at Victoria & Albert's for dinner!
Wednesday:
-Early morning portrait session at Magic Kingdom
-Breakfast reservation at Kona Cafe (I need to try this Tonga Toast!)
-Dinner at O'hana (with the family as mentioned previously)
Thursday:
-Early morning portrait session at Hollywood Studios
-Day at Hollywood Studios with my family
-Dinner at Le Cellier
Friday:
-Dinner reservation at Cinderella's Royal Table
-Wishes! Our last night at WDW tradition
And on Saturday...
We'll be heading to Port Canaveral for a 7-day Caribbean cruise on the Disney Fantasy! The more I go on DCL the more I love it. Again, we debated on whether we should get a nicer room because it's our honeymoon, but this time decided against it. We're going to get an inside stateroom and I think it's on the 10th floor (all I asked was that we didn't get a room too close to the bottom, it's the one thing about cruising that makes nervous).
DF and I are still debating if we are actually going to be doing at port adventures/excursions. I feel like we should see the island we're going to visit (who knows if the opportunity will ever arise again!) but all of Disney's offerings seem to involve being dropped at a beach, snorkling, or biking or some combination of the same. We may just get out see what's in walking distance of the port, have a look around and then head back. We are also going to do Remy again (the first time we went was so amazing!) and a brunch at Palo. Can't wait to sit back and do nothing!
And now if that wasn't enough (and this was completely DF's idea, which blew me out of the water!) after our cruise we're going to fly to CA to do the Backstage Magic Adventure By Disney. Just typing it out makes me stop and think: Wow, this is going to be a trip of a lifetime!
DF and I have already agreed we're going to cut back on the souvenir shopping at WDW and the Cruise to save money and room in our suitcases for all our Disneyland souvenirs!

Your Honeymoon sounds ridiculously fun! And I'm sure with the cruise and the trip to DL, spending the few days at WDW with the fam won't be all that bad. You can't just think of it as an extension of your wedding plans, just after the wedding!

That's pretty much the conclusion we've come to too. There's a lot of alone time on the rest of the trip, so there should be time for some family park time! And I think it'll be pretty fun to experience it with the family too, since it's not likely to ever happen again!

First off, on Monday I went with one of my MOHs for a bridesmaid dress fitting. It went really well, the silver/grey looks lovely as does the whole dress and she looked super pleased. We didn't originally think that any alterations would be needed, but the bust was a little too big. So better to be comfortable, especially with a strapless dress! She's having a couple darts put in there and the dress should be all done and set by the beginning of June! One MOH down, and one to go!
Yesterday, I had my own first dress fitting! It went very well I think. She took care of all the areas that I figured would need to be taken in, but it really did need to come in a lot more than even I expected! The flowers are officially GONE! Yay! And coincidences of all coincidences the associate who was assisting the seamstress/me is also having a Disney World wedding! She mentioned spending hours on the disboards, so if you stumble by here...
I'm that shy girl getting married in Morocco/Bistro de Paris... but I guess that those venues are so infrequently used that would probably be pretty obvious without needing to read this particular passage. As you also probably can guess, I am a very good at rambling all over the place on the internet (especially in this PJ) but I am a very shy talker in person.
Anyway, on to the Meet & Greet plans!
As I mentioned way back when we our going to host a small welcome party for our guests in our two-bedroom villa at Boardwalk Villas the afternoon before the wedding day. And initially I was going to leave it at that. But then I realized, oh wait, I like to plan! So over the past couple weeks I've been doing a lot of thinking, google searching, planning and a three-page report later: I have got a plan!
So it all started when I was looking up photos from the villa interiors and I saw that the rooms have lamps made out of teacups.
Cute! I love having afternoon tea parties (with china and scones and the whole nine yards) and I thought, hey maybe our welcome party should have an afternoon tea feel! But then I thought, that's not going to go over well with everyone. So I started thinking of things that would complement the room (i.e. not require a whole lot of decor for me to lug to FL in my suitcase). My line of thought went something like this: tea party to boardwalk to vintage state fair/carnival to carousel to...
Mary Poppins.
So I am planning a subtly themed Mary Poppins welcome party, emphasis on the Jolly Holiday/Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious sequences. And the look is going to be more or less inspired by Mary Poppins and Bert's costumes: white and red (white and pink, white and orange, white and yellow) stripes, umbrellas, parasols, carousel poles/horses and a couple quotes here and there. And I've even got a bunch of Mary Poppins instrumental music and Main Street USA music for a background soundtrack.
Here are a few ideas:
-Striped tablecloths
(I still cannot believe I found these in the first store I walked into AND it happened to be the dollar store! They're perfect!)
-Striped napkins
(Also on the same trip the dollar store)
-Red beverage cups
-White disposable plates
-Cake/cupcake stands decorated to fit the theme
-Carousel horse silhouettes
-A sign or two: "It's a Jolly Holiday with you"
-Maybe some kind of bunting/welcome banner

I found paper straws in a local book store for $8. I've seen them cheaper on etsy, but I figured because of shipping costs and currency conversion I likely wouldn't be able to get them for less than $8 so I went for it!

Toothpicks from the dollar store plus a stack of card stock I've had lying around for ages!
Here's when the insanity sets in. In a rare moment of foresight we realize the project we thought we'd have done in an hour or two is actually going take 11 hours.
We made about 90. So if we run out of all 90 umbrella toothpicks, people can start using their fingers! I will not cut out another little paper umbrella ever again!
And that's about it at the moment, but I'm still casually looking for more inspiration and ideas. If anyone has any more ideas or thoughts, I'd definitely appreciate it!!

OMG, you are soooo imaginative! And great at DIY!......and patient. I wouldn't have the patience to do all of that, but you did a fantastic job!
I love the moments of dilerium....the laughing fits are priceless.
I can't believe you get to get married at WDW, go on a Disney cruise, AND go to DL!!! That is awesome!

Those little DIY crafts are so cute. 0__0. I want them, lol! They'll really help make the subtle them and the welcome party/meet n greet really spectacular!

-You're save the dates are stunning, it looks like they were made for a Disney cartoon. We were thinking of going with a comic book invite but never found a good artist that wouldn't charge us crazy.
-Those costumes were awesome, great job.
-We too did the Disney movie rewards and ordered the knife set with figurine. They are beautiful. I saw flutes that has the same castle carving but don't remember where.
-YOUR INVITES ARE CRAZY AWESOME!!!! Really, I can't even describe how neat I think they are.

Wow I've just spent every free minute today catching up with your PJ... I'm in love with your ideas! Everything is gorgeous & so unique!

Your honeymoon plans sound crazy amazing! You are going to have a BLAST! Pleeease, do a trip report so I can live vicariously? We'll have WDW and a cruise on the Fantasy during our wedding trip too but no Disneyland, which is the number ONE destination on my bucket list!

I'm so jealous of your honeymoon!!! It sounds amazing. And Mary Poppins is my favorite non-animated Disney movie ever. I got to get a picture with her in Epcot once, and it was so sad that none of the little kids knew who she was! I don't blame you for going nuts after cutting shapes for hours...I'm sure you hand hurt too!
