DARN IT! Space Mountain and Soarin' Over California are down for refurb on 5/28 when we will be there! keeping my fingers crossed that they'll be available for the other 2 days we'll be there.

There's been multiple threads about this, related to the recent DOSH visit/issues :( hope they will have things under control and fixed soon!

I didn't realize it would be under refurbishment because of that. Didn't mean to drum up a controversial topic! At any rate, even if the rides are closed for the duration of our visit, we'll still have a great time. I was kind of looking forward to going on Space Mountain since I haven't been to DL in about 15 years. And I've NEVER been on Soarin' Over CA!

I have been following the other threads with bated breath since we will be at DL in a month for our once-yearly vacation.

I don't want to open up a debate again - if a ride needs fixing, for whatever reason, then obviously that needs to happen.

And I also know this is a first world problem. And that we will still have a great time regardless.

But I am still really sad that two of my favourite rides will be down when we go (Soarin' is my top favourite)

Is it true that space mountain will be closed through Memorial Day?

I did not know it took that long to install guard rails on two platforms, swinging doors and place fire extinguishers in proper locations.

I do not know if it will be closed through Memorial Day...I just checked 5-28. :-) Maybe it will be open for that weekend?

Are they open now? I read about the issues the other day with some of the rides at DL and DLC...we will be there on 4/27 and I hope everything is up and running. :(

I'm sorry for those that are going to be there while these rides are down...it is really a bummer. We will be there in early June (we arrive on 6/5) and since this is our first trip to DLR, I am hoping and praying that they will be back up and running by the time we get there. However, if they are not, I will not let it ruin our trip since we are WDW vets and we have Space and Soarin there too. The unfortunate part is that I know Space Mountain is different then the one in WDW and I am really looking forward to seeing what the difference is. We are already bummed that BTMRR is going to be closed due to the long refurb that it is going through (again we are not letting that ruin our trip), I am just hoping no more rides get closed, especially the ones that are specific to DLR since this may very well be a once in a lifetime trip for us.

The SM and Soarin refurbs are being extended on the Calendar each day. They are listed on 5/29.

We leave the last weekend in April for our Disneyland trip.
Mostly bummed about Soarin' but you never know. Things change all the time. It could be open by then.

Space Mtn---I skip that anyway ;)

There are what, about a thousand other things you can do at the parks? It's no big deal in the grand scheme of things. For me, it makes no sense to get all worked up about a few rides being down, no matter how "big" they are.
You will have fun anyway.

If you focus on what you're NOT able to do, it will taint your entire experience. Go, enjoy, it's Disneyland, a happy place.

The official word from Disneyland at the moment is that both attractions are closed through May. However, this is subject to change........of course!

Some sources online indicate that both attractions will be closed through July - others indicate that they will reopen as early as next week. I do not believe either is accurate.

For now, Disney is still trying to get its arms around the timeframe it will take to get these rides up to speed to meet OSHA regulatory requirements. Since this is unknown as of today, Disney is lowering expectations by keeping both attractions closed until further notice.

The silver lining is that at least one of the Matterhorn tracks will remain open while Space is down. Once Space reopens, Matterhorn will close immediately for two weeks of additional testing.

Complaints within Disneyland Park have been long and loud with respect to multiple marquee attractions being closed simultaneously - I believe these are justified. However, enough information is available online now that no one should be surprised when they arrive.

Yes, and I just checked the DL Park Hours refurb calendar. SM is off the list after April 30 and the list goes back to its previously planned refurbs. It goes without saying that it appears that DL priorities are to be safe and up and running soon.

edit: They must be updating the calendar as I typed this note, because it has changed again, and SM is off the refurb list entirely, in fact everything appears to be back to the old, planned refurbs, and maybe a few rotating ones thrown in. Could it be?

The worst part I think would be w/ these marquee rides down you will have much longer lines in the rest of the park. At least it is a slower time. This is probably the final week of spring break. I know many schools are out this week and have friends there. That would be disappointing to have so many rides closed.

Yeah I jut checked the calendar myself. It's completely gone, and soarin is too! I wonder if they're just trying to mess with us haha. It would be great news if they open the rides though :)

Holy cow...you're right! I just looked myself and the Space Mtn & Soarin' refurbs are no longer listed.
