Appetizer for Entree credit

While on the DDP can you order an Appetizer as your entree?

Generally, no, you cannot substitute an appetizer for an entree when on the DDP. You can ask, but I've not heard of it being allowed very often. The third party venues won't allow it because they won't be reimbursed by Disney for the appetizer.

I have done it many times at Big River Grill. They also let us do it at Coral Reef, but only certain appetizers were allowed.

Several members of our party just did it at Rainforest Cafe at the Animal Kingdom with no problem. :)

It totally depends on the restaurant and random things like the phase of the moon.

All you can do is ask when you are there, but don't plan 100% on being able to do it (even at places someone else was able to do it). Have a backup plan.

Thanks all. I know it sounds silly but I was thinking for my 10 year old that sometimes just likes wings or shrimp of some sort.

If it's for your 10 year old, you can pay OOP for anything you wish - such as an app for her as an entree - and save her dining credit for another restaurant or towards a 2 credit signature, CRT or dinner show. :)

Exactly! You can even do this if you get an entree that is not DP worthy. I mean cheap. Just tell the server which meals will be DP. Or dont use the DP at all!! Figure out what works best for your family!

The answer that most fits the question is "maybe" because there are some restaurants that won't allow it. Usually these will be 3rd party restaurants (not operated by Disney.) Most of these can be found in Epcot's World Showcase or Downtown Disney.

Last time I was at rainforest they don't take DDP anymore they are not owned by Disney we were told so I walked out

Must have been at Rainforest before 2012, because they accept all the dining plans (except quick service) as of January 1, 2012.
