What's the earliest they will usually let you check in to your room? I'll be going in late June if that matters. Thanks!!

You can check in as soon as the computers turn over for the day which is usually 6 a.m. Your room likely won't be ready then but you can get your Key to the World card and stash your stuff with bell services before heading out to the park for the day.

I do online check in and last year in April we got to our resort at 8 am and our room was ready.

We have NEVER done on line check in (nor would we) and...

Our room had always been ready with our arrival ranging from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm.

There have been many guests who have done on line check on and there room has not been ready.

I think it really just depends on how crowded the resort is, what room you have been assigned, and what time the guest before you left. We have never done on-line check in and we have arrived many years after 5:00 pm but we have also arrived before noon and our room has always been ready but I know each trip this could be different. But it is great to know that you can store your luggage their and head to the parks. Also we always arrive park ready, we wear the shoes, clothes, and have the backpack ready. :thumbsup2

I've always done on-line check in and arrived around 10am and the room has been ready. This time though I'm not doing on-line check in, so we'll see how it goes!

We're pretty new at this, just curious, why would you NEVER do online check in? We're going in August and I need all the good info I can get :)

We arrive at POR in 9 days and did online checkin yesterday. Had only heard good things about this option so am surprised someone would say they would NEVER do this. It saves time, what's the issue?

We did online check in for our trip last month. We showed up early..around 10 and our room was ready. Doing the online check in definitely sped up the process!

We do not see the need.

All of our requests are made at time of reservation.

At this point, it is an unnecessary, extra step.

It adds to the magic, IMHO, to speak directly with a pleasant CM at the front desk.

We've never had an unpleasant experience at check in so why change it now? ;)

Check-in has always been a breeze for us.

We travel during the summer months and our wait to check in has always been less than 5 minutes.

Our room has ALWAYS been ready upon our arrival which ranged between 10am and 1pm with all our requests granted.

Perhaps we have just been lucky with the pixiedust: at the WL

:cutie:

Some people think it lessens their chance at getting an upgrade, not true.

Some people feel the experience is less magical by doing online check in, not true. I've always gotten the same awesome disney customer service whether we've done online check in or not. The CMs are just as chatty and helpful at the online check in desk as the normal check in desk.

Some people think they can't ask to change their room assignment if they don't like their current assignment. Again not true.

Right now there is no real advantage to doing online check in or checking in normally. We like to do it because all of the planning has been done by the time we do online check in and it gives me something to do for our trip. I know it sounds stupid, but it makes me feel like we're one step closer.

There will be one advantage to online check in once they roll out FastPass+. Once that happens you will be able to make your FP+ reservations at 60 days out but only AFTER you have done online check in.

That's a unique perspective. I was thinking it seemed silly not to take advantage of it, since it's available, but I love your reasoning. We do travel with our kids quite a bit, and you're right, they do like to meet the check-in person in the lobby. We're flying in early, renting a car, and staying for 9 days, so we don't want to rush at all, and it seems we do all get very wrapped up in a "faster/better" mentality. Thanks for the outlook :)
