Top 10 Things to Pack on a Disney Cruise

OK, safety tats are my new go to thing!!

We used safety tats on a trip back east once, and they did not stay on because of the humidity. Had to use two or three a day. New solution? Sharpie. No joke. Doesn't sweat off!

Wish I had a fan because it got pretty warm in the room the last two nights, but not sure if any are allowed. A flashlight would have been great because the room gets really dark at night.

Glad you mentioned this. Doesn't look like it's on the list of prohibited item. I actually have a camping fan, runs on D batteries, think I will stick this in my suitcase just in case.

1. Downy wrinkle release travel size - awesome - buy 2
2. Lysol for stinkies and to spray luggage (anti norovirus)
3. Travel blow dryer. Ones on the Dream were lousy; Fantasy not much better
4. Glow in the dark necklaces for Pirate night
5. Boxed movie theatre candy-a must if you have late dinner seating
6. Insulated water bottles - worked great esp on castaway cay and at sea days - pack with ice and fill with water and it will stay cold all day
7. Baggie of tide pods and dryer sheets - 7 days - you will want to do laundry
8. Garment bags. We bought inexpensive 'Wally bags' from Amazon.com. Sooo much easier to open bag and already have everything on a hanger. We used huggable hangers and they double your space.
9. Sharpies in a Baggie with a matte and/or with a pillow case for the characters to sign. Just leave at guest services
10. Extra baggies of assorted sizes to pack liquids for return home
11. Cheap toothbrushes and travel size toothpaste. Throw them out when leaving.
12. Crystal light packets, or similar. Also gatorade packets. Can really liven up water. Add lemonade packet to unsweetened iced tea. Gatorade helps with norovirus induced dehydration
13. Children's Tylenol - someone's child will get sunburned

We didn't use the over door hanger either. No need. Love the suction cup idea for the shower:)

We use a Sharpie instead of the safety tattoos as well. Doesn't come off with sweat and free (because we already have them at home). Just make sure you put the name/phone number where it is not readily visible but where the child knows where it is (like just under the sleeve on the upper arm).

Clothes pins to air dry bathing suits on your balcony. I was thrilled I had these on our last cruise. Just pin the bathing suits to the chairs on the balcony, and in a few hours, everything is dry. On the Fantasy there is also the clothes line in your shower, only problem with this, is every time someone needs to shower, you need to take the clothesline down. The clothespins were a great idea I received from another cruiser. Also, the sticky notes. Great way to communicate with your room attendant.

We're cruising in Jan 2014 and I read through all of the posts. Thanks for the tips everyone!

My top 10 for me and my wife, in no particular order:

1. Less
2. Less
3. Not as much as you think.
4. Remove some of that.
5. Not that.
6. Nope
7. Bathing suit
8. Passport or other identification
9. Less
10. Remove that

Awesome!

Great idea. I bought the Seagate Goflex satellite 500 gig before our trip and three iPads could stream movies at the same time. Wifi hard drives work great for entertaining kids. Monster portable power strip is a must for charging.

So for someone who is tech challenged this is basically a device that stores things right? My son seems to think there is a product out there that he can buy for portable wi-fi to use to connect to the internet when you're in the car or on the ship. I've only heard of cell phones doing that but what do I know?

There are hangers. We asked our stateroom host for extras and he gave us more!

Don't you have to have a wifi connection to watch movies that are stored on it? I didn't realize the rooms on ship offered wifi. I had been thinking about buying one because my kids and husband watch a lot of movies and don't have room to store many on their ipads. This would be a great alternative if possible to do onboard.

We haven't even taken our first DCL cruise yet, but I am already planning to bring a pack of colored hi-liters so each person in our family can mark what they'd like to do on the Personal Navigator each day. I love how on other lines this same thig is one page long, and on DCL it is like 6 pages long. :goodvibes Makes me happy because I love to keep busy!!!

It creates its own wifi network to share the movies. It's a pretty neat device.

Hi all!
I've had the pleasure of experiencing two Disney Cruises and look forward to our third on the Fantasy in October!! I always learn something new when I come to these boards, and as a person who has not been on many cruises, I greatly appreciate the vast experience of others. That being said, I would LOVE to know what your Top 10 items to pack on Disney Cruise are (besides the obvious things like clothing). Especially with the recent issues with Carnival...I wonder how many people would now add extra snacks, flashlight, hand wipes, etc to their packing lists. Here are my Top 10 having learned from the two cruises I have taken. Looking forward to seeing what yours are!

1. - I love these. They are sticky temporary tattoos that your children wear on their arms and last for at least a week. They are the size of a bandaid and can have your phone number, allergies or other information written on it in case you and your child get separated. I was thinking for the cruise you could write DCL and then your room number since cell phones don't work onboard.

2. Over the door shoe hanger - we used this a lot for extra items we couldn't fit on the bathroom shelves: hair brushes, sunscreen, toothpaste, etc.

3. Boxed movie candy - I may have been looking in the wrong place, but on the Magic and the Dream I didn't really see anywhere to buy movie candy. I did see some outside the big theater where they have the stage productions, but the selection isn't great and it's pretty expensive. Next time we go I'll definitely grab a few boxes at my local Target for $1 and be prepared for movie time!

4. - LOVE these. I take them everywhere I go, especially to the parks and on excursions. Remember that you can't fill your personal cups directly at the beverage station, but what I do is take one of the Disney paper cups and fill my hydro with ice and water that way. They don't sweat, keep cold things really cold and hot things very hot all day.

5. Pop Up Hampers - These are great for people like me who HATE having dirty clothes in a pile in the corner of our stateroom. They fold up really flat and I like to take two - one for the kids and one for DH and I. It's also much easier to carry dirty clothes to the laundry facilities when we want to do a load of clothes.

6.
- My DS3 still likes to drink out of a sippy cup so I buy a pack of disposable ones before we leave. That way I don't have to worry about washing his favorite cup from home in the bathroom sink - gross. We just use it and toss it.

7.
Bonine - If you're like me, and you have an issue with motion sickness - I highly recommend Bonine. I've used Dramamine and those arm band things but Bonine has worked the best for me. I can take it without it making me drowsy at all. Just remember to start taking it the night before you leave on the cruise. If you wait until you get on the ship it will take awhile to work and you might feel weird.

8. $1 Bills for Room Service Tipping - Great idea because I really don't use cash on the ship for anything else, it's nice to have an envelope with $1 bills in it so I can quickly grab a couple when my nightly milk and cookies are delivered. :-)

9. Sunscreen/sunglasses - I think this goes without saying, but ANY time of year you go it's super important to use sunscreen, even if it's not blistering hot.

10. Power Strip - DH loves gadgets. It's a good thing we brought a power strip with extra plugs the last time we cruised because between our phones, iPads, laptops, rechargeable batteries, etc... it would have been difficult to charge everything.
Very very nice and useful post. We need to become safe before planning any adventurous outing. I really appreciate your effort and I am visiting Disney land next month with my family. Thanks again:banana::banana::banana:
