Is there anywhere that we can store our luggage on the day of departure? We don't fly until late and will obviously need to check out before then...

yes, the Bell Services is located where you get on the bus to the airport and they will store everything there for you until you leave. if you are doing resort airline check in they will check your bags for the plane and store your carry on items there as well while you enjoy the rest of your day

We saw a southern ringneck snake in the hotel grounds outside our room at the Caribbean Beach Resort in 2011

Yep I saw one of these at POFQ. It was tiny but still startling since I walked up almost on top of it. It was sunning itself on the sidewalk.

I also saw a great big black snake (wasn't sure but it looked like a moc, we were a little far from the water but it had a triangle shaped head so better safe than sorry) in a raised bed at Epcot by the bus stops. It was being flushed out of the grass by the two children RUNNING around in the grassy landscaping while their parents made halfhearted 'don't play in the landscaping kids' attempts to make them heel.:faint: Another family next to me looked at me when I told the other kids and their parents that they were about to get bit. In half broken English and half gestures they were like 'snake? viper?' I was like YES don't play in the grass. They bundled up their own kids and put them on the other side of the area and looked at the original parents like they were loony. The snake hightailed it for the next grass patch and disappeared into the underbrush. Smart Snake.

Great, thank you.
We checked in at downtown disney last time but we were travelling with Virgin holidays. This time we booked separately so don't get it free. I was thinking if we are able to store out luggage securely we would save the ££...

That would freak me out! Thank goodness I have never encountered a bug, snake, alligator or other creature in WDW! Well, other than some rude guests a couple of times.;)

We are booked!!! 2 rooms, standard view, requested bldg. 4 first floor. Going 11/29-12/7.....8 nights because we got great airfares....3 generations....oh I am so excited!!!!!:cool1:

This was our first stay at POFQ and we loved it. We had requested first floor connecting rooms in building 4. We got second floor connecting rooms in building 2. Initially disappointed but it really turned out to be fine. We were next to the pool and boat dock and since we had Garden view it was quiet. The walk was a piece of cake as it is from most buildings at POFQ. Now- having been there I would not pay the extra money for garden view. Even the rooms overlooking a parking lot appeared to have some sort of beautiful landscaping just outside the doors. The only rooms that seemed to have an odd view to me were those in the back corner of building 4 closest to the main building. and that view was a wooden wall. Everything was clean and well maintained. The food court was just OK but it served its purpose. Our room was clean and the beds very comfy. The kids loved the pool and roasting marshmallows in the evenings. We never made it but they had movies every night on the lawn. oh and we did see a palmetto bug on the sidewalk to the hot tub.
OT-We ate at Be Our Guest for dinner and it was very very very good:thumbsup2
Sad to be home, but for those getting ready to leave, Have Fun!

I can't say we've ever run across roaches/spider issues - but there are little gecko lizards running everywhere around the property. Or there were several years ago :) I also always end up going during love bug season (October) and have been there during one particularly bad season, but just dealt with it. I am a bug hater - mosquitos/bees/wasps in particular - but what're you going to do, right? :)

I forgot about the little geckos. I don't mind them, and they don't seem to come inside. The grandkids (and I) had fun trying to catch them, but it couldn't be done! Fast little things!

Try using a hat next time :) my DH and DD4 had a blast catching them!

According to our Disney ticker, we are coming to POFQ in 5 months and 1 day. We've always stayed at value. I am lamenting about having booked FQ over RS. Is that the right choice? We don't want overwhelming and without paying for upgraded room, most likely wouldn't be in a plantation house. Oh, the lamenting I do over Disney decisions.

I have stayed at RS twice & it's a big resort if you haven't paid for a preferred room you can still request a mansion to keep from getting a room in alligator bayou but AB is actually quite nice since the refurb.. But there is always the chance you'll be pretty far from main building since you will have a standard room. With POFQ you won't have to worry about that since its smaller

I am finding very little info about rollaway beds, and what I am finding seems to be conflicting. In a standard view, 2 double bed room (2 adults, one toddler), would we be able to request a rollaway at POFQ? If so, cost?

We have a Shrunks toddler bed and I have no problem bringing it, but will opt out of the additional luggage if we know we can get the extra bed and put the mattress on the floor for my toddler.

Thanks!!

POFQ has queen beds and they will give you a pack and play for a child under 3...no rollaway beds....you could bring a blowup mattress but it will be crowded. They will give you bed rails if you want those

Thank you :) DD is sleeping in toddler beds and twin beds and wouldn't be happy in a PnP any longer. She's never liked them anyways - I think they just aren't as comfortable as home.

I think we will figure out how to squeeze the air mattress in there and we can just set it upright during the mornings and evenings to get it out of the way. It doesn't weigh hardly anything. I appreciate the response!

Will she not sleep in a regular bed? They will give you bed rails to put on the Queen so she doesn't roll off. Or if you have two adults who each have a bed will she not share with one adult?

I don't really see the difference, if both appeal to you visually, between RS and FQ.

However, there can be a significant difference in prices, as RS usually qualifies for discounts, while FQ does not qualify for the same discounts. If you have a PIN, there is probably no difference in price. But if you don't and are applying a regular discount, likely you could save a few hundred dollars switching to RS

The biggest distance between the main building and a resort room is less than 500 yards.

The biggest distance between the main building a resort room at POFQ is over 300 yards.

I personally don't find any of these distances daunting, it should take no more than 5 minutes to walk to the main building. Unless you are a slower walker.

I stayed at POR last October after approximately 4 previous trips to POFQ. I really prefer POFQ. It's much smaller than POR and I like the New Orleans/Mardi Gras theme better. I was in a preferred room at POR which minimized the walking at the resort. POR definitely has the better food court and has more activities on-site like bicycle rental, boat rental, etc. I'm glad I tried Riverside once but I'll be returning to the French Quarter for future trips.

In terms of discounts, if you are a AAA member, you're eligible for around a 15% to 20% discount at either resort, depending on the date of your trip. Sometimes with the general discount codes, Riverside has a larger discount than French Quarter.

Hi

We have booked to stay at POFQ for 14 nights, all very exciting!!

Is it true that unless you pay extra, you will get a view of the car park? I really don't want to look at that for 2 weeks, but can't justify the expense of a garden/pool view room on top of our already scarily expensive holiday!!

I've seen from the map that some buildings are not adjacent to the parking area, would it be worth trying to request one of them or are they only for people who have paid for an upgrade?

Thanks in advance for the advice :goodvibes
