April 28th Dream Bahamas Cruise

Hi Everyone,

It has been so fun to read through this thread and hear that there are so many others on our cruise who are every bit as excited as we are. First things first:

EmptyLot - Anthony (31), Tiffany (29) - 9548 - Late

This is the MV for both of us and Disney was the only option in our minds. We live on the west side of Orlando, about 15-minutes from WDW. I know this will make many of you jealous, so apologies in advance, but this has allowed us to spend a lot of time in our "happiest place." Many evenings, we just go down for dinner and to people-watch. The busy days and occasional long lines don't bother us, because we know that we can just come down another day. OK, OK, for those of you that are still freezing your butts off in Michigan, I'll stop. :) My point is that for us, it's more about the Disney atmosphere as opposed to the mad dash to take it all in. I know we are very fortunate.

Tiffany and I have a long history with Disney. I spent much of my childhood in the Orlando and Tampa area, and feel like my siblings and I grew up in the various theme parks. One of the things that brought Tiffany and I together was our affection for the Disney parks. I worked up what became an elaborate marriage proposal via park-wide scavenger hunt within the MK (For the sappy among you, click here for our written accounts of the day).

Our wedding wasn't Disney-themed per se, but we did hide Hidden Mickeys in things, and created Fast Passes to dismiss tables for dinner (photo here). We also had a live jazz trio that played Disney tunes throughout the reception.

Since we've been married, we've been making our rounds at the WDW resorts. We spent our wedding night in a suite at the Grand Floridian (thanks to the no-charge upgrade from the CMs!). So far, we've done Wilderness Lodge (3x), Animal Kingdom Lodge, All-Star Music (clearly these are in no particular order), Polynesian, Yacht Club and the Dolphin. Wilderness Lodge is definitely our favorite, but we're big outdoorsy people anyway, so that probably makes sense. Technically, the cruise is supposed to be our 2-year anniversary celebration, but I don't think we'll be able to resist a resort stay that weekend as well, since the cruise is two weeks before the actual day. :) We have our sights on Port Orleans - French Quarter or a repeat of the YC.

So that's us. We love to travel and do it as much as we are able. We spent 2 weeks in Europe for our honeymoon. We did some of the obvious things, like DL Paris, but also so not so obvious things like tour many of the locations shown in Epcot's "France" movie, and two days hiking around the Matterhorn. The real one. :) Are we fanatics? Sure, I suppose you could say that. But other than on boards like this one, we tend to stay pretty subtle about it. Disney is definitely special to us and something that we enjoy together.

On a side note, we may not know much about Disney cruisin', but if you guys ever have any questions about the WDW parks or resorts, feel free to ask away. All our friends and family do, and we're passionate about helping everyone experience the very best Disney has to offer and appreciate it the way we do.

Tootles for now, we'll see you on board!

Thanks for the heads up on the angry Donalds. I found some. I did Google and search the Dis, but I have no idea what I was thinking about when I put in the search terms, but was only getting regular Donalds. :confused3

Where from?

Mid-Michigan, supposed to get snow today. :( 14 Days and counting at least. I'm READY!!!

How long have you been crusing?

This is our second cruise. First was in Feb. of 2010 with the kids on the Wonder.

Shore excursions?

We don't have anything planned for Nassau. If we get off the ship, just walk to the Queen's staircase or something relatively easy. At the Cay, we're feeding the stingrays. Otherwise, its just enjoy the weather and have fun.

What do you look forward to most?

Getting away from everything. Celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and we are going without the kids. :cool1: They are none too happy about that at all.

What do I look forward to the least?

Getting off the ship. Although, we're spending 2 more days at the World before we head back to reality.
When I get back, I have to start back to work and school, NO THANKS!!! :furious:

first on carnival in 2005, then a couple Alaska cruises on HAL. Switched to Disney in 2008 (i think) and never looked back. 3 Eastern Carribean on the magic, a 4 and 5 night on the Wonder, and a 4 nighty on the Dream. Its been a year and a half and were going thru withdrawals! Had a baby in November though so we had to give up cruises for about 9 months lol

Have you booked any excursions?

No - We don't plan to get off the boat in Nassau and just a beach day at Castaway Cay.

What are you looking forward to the most about this cruise?

Kids going to the Oceaneer Club, Lab, and Small world nursery, us going to Quiet Cove! Being treated like gold by the crew and CMs, and treating them the same way of course!
The shows, Castaway Cay (including 5k), and not having to cook for 4 days!

What are you least looking forward to about this cruise?
The Bill! Haha, and leaving the ship of course although this time were heading to OKW at WDW for 2 nights after the cruise so that will help ease us back into reality!

There was a lounge in the top of the smokestack on the Fantasy that we found. You take the elevator (or stairs) to the edge and it's there. Great views! We found it during the day and never did visit at night.

Not quite as nice as the deck 7 area, but pretty cool. :thumbsup2

We keep telling ourselves we are going to do something after our next cruise, other than drive straight home. Kids are off school Friday anyway so we figured why not

So as we get closer to sailing together, I think it would be great to have a short question and answer session.

I will start it off. Some of the questions may have already been answered, but it so hard to go back and look at times.
