Ok guys, I need advice. Is it frivolous to book the dessert party when we are staying CL at the Poly and can watch Wishes from the lounge with evening desserts? The rational part of me says it is silly to book it, and to save it for when we stay somewhere different and don't have the gorgeous view from the lounge. The impulsive part of me with a propensity to spend unnecessary money says DO IT! :rotfl: Talk me down guys!

If it means anything, I looked at online videos of wishes as seen from the pirate and pals fireworks cruise and the dessert party and realized I much preferred being up close and personal. :-)

We had the dessert party booked for Dec, but when we upgraded to CL at CR we cancelled it. Not having to fight the crowds on the way out priceless. I am guessing Poly is like CR and the Wishes music is piped in??? I honestly did not miss being in the park. And the kiddos were in their pj's and were asleep in no time :)

I definitely don't mind skipping the park. It's actually more enjoyable from the lounge in my opinion! A more intimate setting. I think I am going to skip it this time.

Yes they pipe it in and dim the lights. The view from the lounge is breathtaking! And not battling the crowds to get out is a HUGE advantage.

Dani we did the Dessert Party in Nov. and Bob and I both decided it was a "must do" for all future trips but I am torn now since being able to watch them from the Poly beach seems like a good alternative. I think if I was staying CL I would skip it for sure unless I was booking the Dessert Party for a special celebration, ie. Birthday, Anniversary etc.

I think you answered your own question!;). I agree, since you will have the lounge, gorgeous view, sound piped in, close to your room, no crowds getting back with 2 little ones...me thinks Poly CL is going to be fabulous!

Also, as you said, saving it for a trip when you'd not have the option would make the Dessert Party a special treat.

I might be one of the few who has mixed feelings about the dessert party - other than the view, I didn't find it all that great. Offerings were so-so, limited choices for drinks - at least when we were there - it was a cold night and they offered coffee, but no hot cocoa. I would have so enjoyed a hot drink. I know almost everyone loves it, but for the cost, I wasn't wowed. I would do it again with Mia and Sophia because of the view. ::yes:: Also, seats are pe-assigned, although you can still go up to the wall to watch Wishes. :thumbsup2

I think I tend to agree with you. I would really do it for the view and not so much the desserts. My friend was interested when I showed him but he's never stayed CL at the Poly so he doesn't know what to expect from that.

Awfully quiet here today! :-) hope everyone is having a great Saturday!!

Hi ladies!

Just back from a.....date night with DH! He was given some Toronto Maple Leaf tickets at work, so we went to the hockey game downtown tonight. They played the Montreal Canadians, a classic rivalry, it was a good game! My parents came and watched the girls. It was a much needed break for us, and we had fun! :cheer2: I still like my DH.

Just wanted to share, these date nights are few and far between!;)

And we got to talk Disney too! :thumbsup2 Enjoy the weekend everyone.:flower3:

I need to catch up, but I'm too busy crying. The DH keeps using words like "dug out" and "quarter" when talking about the game he just went to. I know I'm being a big 'ol baby about it, but it is what it is. The DH's dad did try and get me a ticket and it didn't work.

Well poo I had stopped crying and then he tells me Hatcher was there, and now come the flow again.

When we stayed at Poly, we loved watching Wishes (and EWP) from a lounge chair on the beach :goodvibes

ONE WEEK FROM TODAY!!! :cool1:

Jeanette-have any of your kids had to have tubes yet? Both of my kids had them and were back to their regular selves within a couple of hours, so you shouldn't have to postpone! :goodvibes
 for your count down!!

So the additional 200 square feet wins over the Poly's convenience to the TTC and an actual bed for DD2 (as opposed to the inflatable toddler bed we will have for her)...right??
:thumbsup2

Pas sorry to hear about the ear problems.

Sounds like a great night!

Talk me down from the ledge! My first day I have booked Pop with BB offer. Cause I figured it wouldn't be a full day, with having to drive up from Lauderdale 3 hrs, then have to do a little grocery shopping for snacks and breakfast stuff- bagels, yogurt, OJ, wine :goodvibes etc. Then we'd be there for GF check in next day first thing in the morning. The main reason I booked Pop in the first place!! :upsidedow
But NOW, I'm thinking well, maybe ......just switch pop for another GF day :confused3 Then again, with the money saved with staying Pop that first night would buy a few meals  ugh

You are right! The difference between even one night at Pop vs GF will pay for something anyway! :-) although I keep making sure I shouldn't add another day at CR as opposed to staying 2 nights offsite... :-)
