POFQ vs POR?

We are doing a split stay for our trip in November. We couldn’t get a room at the BCV the whole week so we decided to stay at a non DVC resort this time for the last 3 days of our trip. We’ve narrowed it down to POFQ and POR.

Would you recommend one over the other? It’s just myself and DH on the trip.

Thanks for your help!

I have never stayed at either--but I'm struggling with the same decision for our trip in March!
I'm leaning towards POFQ because of its small
size.
I'm interested in what others have to say too.....

I like FQ better, smaller area, better feel. Now I have never stayed in the mansion area of POR so that may be ok for a couple too, but I don't know. POFQ doesn't have a sit down restaurant, but it really is an easy walk to POR to get anything that FQ doesn't have.

POFQ. I had reservations about staying there in January, but it exceeded all my expectations! It was so nice and peaceful. The grounds were beautiful. We took a bus to POR one night from MK (it was the first one to show up). POR looks really nice and secluded. It was 5 bus stops until we reached the main stop, so I feel we got a good look around. I think I liked the intimacy of POFQ. Scat Cat's is fun, too. As the PP it is only a short walk or boat ride to POR for a quaint sit down restaurant. Hope this helps!

I've only stayed at POFQ, but have walked around POR, and given the choice, I think I would always choose POFQ. I like the small size and the theming (besides the pool) appeals to me more. The pool is a bit juvenile, but you can use all of the POR pools whenever you want. We don't eat meals except breakfast sometimes at the Mods, so the lack of a TS restaurant doesn't bother us. I've always felt like POFQ was closer to a Deluxe than the other Mods.

Having stayed at both I much prefer POR. POR has a better food court, a better pool, and while yes it's a larger resort, there are 4 bus stops so it's never a long walk from the bus. Some of the AB rooms can be a bit of a walk to the main building, but I didn't think it was that bad. I very much prefer the theming at POR also. I felt that the theming at POFQ was chintzy. Yeehaa Bob in the lounge is a good time as well and POR has the better stop for the boat to DTD. That's my preference.

I've stayed at both and will be returning to POFQ for our next trip. It is really just up to individual preference. You can't go wrong with either one, as long as you know what you're getting. I actually prefer POFQ for its size and convenience. I find POR a little too spread out, and am not a huge fan of the theming- but that is TOTALLY a personal preference.

We tend to only eat at the mod resorts for breakfast, so TS isn't a big deal for us. It all depends on how important the amenities are for you. I like the fact that they are sister resorts and share all of the amenities, so IF we wanted to use Old Man Island we could. And if we want to see Yee Haw Bob instead of Elliot Dyson, it's just a short stroll downriver.

I totally agree with this -
I have stayed at both and like the smaller size of french Quarter -
You could always do the boat ride and get off at the other and just check it out !
Have Fun !

Both are great resorts. In warmer weather I'd prefer POR, love the mansions, and the option of quiet pools. My daughters are adults, and don't always feel like going to the main pool. Also love the evening entertainment at POR. Bob Jackson puts on a great show. And a better food court.
But we stayed at POFQ in jan, and had a wonderful stay. Loved building 4 :goodvibes

They are both wonderful resorts. If it is just you and your DH, I would go for POFQ.. It is much smaller. Riverside has more going on there, so if you want more amenities and a better food court, then stay at POR. Be sure to take the boat to DTD!! I have nothing bad to say about either resort. Like I said, they are my two favorites and I have stayed at all of the moderate resorts.
