Cloth diapering in Disney?

Does anyone have experience cloth diapering in the parks? And how about washing in the resorts? Obviously can't bring a diaper sprayer on vacation but can do loads of laundry. Am interested in prefolds, hybrids, all in ones, fitteds, anything. I'm a doula who loves Disney and I want to give real world advise to my mommies (also want to have advise for me when the time comes) any experiences whether good or bad are appreciated!

My oldest daughter is one of those baby wearing, cloth diapering, breastfeeding, homeschooling moms. I don't know where she got it since I was a stroller pushing, bottle feeding, Huggie buying, can't-get-the-kids-on-the-bus-fast-enough mom.

Even so, she breaks down and uses disposables with they are at Disney or otherwise traveling.

I'm not judging you in any way, but your post made me glad that we went disposable.

I don't have kids, but a good friend of mine is currently cloth diapering with her fourth baby and they have passes. I went with them about a month ago for 2-1/2 days and she just brought some free & clear, unbleached disposable diapers. However, I think she's done cloth for day trips. They are an active family, often out and about, and I know she has to do diaper changes at the playground/church/etc. I'll ask her if she has any tips/suggestions and report back

My suggestion would be pad folded flats in a diaper cover. You could easily hand wash them in the sink, and hang them to dry for the next day. If you pack enough for a few days, you can rotate the ones drying and the ones in use.

Prefolds in a cover. Wash and dry them at the resort at night. Otherwise disposables. I understand wanting to be a purist, but there is no prize for winning the cloth diaper challenge.

I did it when dd was little in fitteds. I would wash while the kids where at the pool and kept a large wetbag with me for changes. I used liners in the diapers to make solid removal easy. With a liner you can just flip the diaper upside down over a toilet. Only other tip I have would be to make sure you bring your own detergent.

We do cloth at home, but no way would I bring them along on vacation. Baby's butt will survive a few days of disposables. Enjoy the vacation is the advice I would give.

Well, I didn't do WDW while my DD (now 19!) was in diapers, but when we did travel I would use disposables...it really does save on the stress while on the road and in the car! And there is something to be said for making vacations stress-free!

And I was also one of those cloth diapering, sling wearing, breastfeeding into toddlerhood, making my own baby food, homeschooling, co-sleeping, SINGLE moms!

I was also a doula/childbirth educator for several years, too! Good memories! Enjoy it and good luck to you!

I used fuzi-bunz with a pre-fold insert and disposable liners and washed at the resort when I was cloth diapering. We stayed in DVC resorts though so I had a full washer & dryer.

We cloth diaper at home but whenever we travel I break out the disposables. Travelling with a wee one can be hard enough so I do everything that I can to make it a bit easier. I'm on vacation and for me that means no cooking, no laundry and minimal cleaning!

My almost 3 year old twins have been CDed since birth. The only exception has been that in the past when we were traveling we'd use hybrid diapers (Flips for us) with disposable inserts (prefer GroVia brand). The GroVia biodegrade in 30 days or you can cut the insert and flush the stuff that soaks up the pee. We've always just trashed them. We've always had good luck with CDing on vacation.

HOwever, when we go to WDW in a month we are doing regular ole disposables. I was just thinking that it would make extra stuff to carry around (extra covers & a wetbag) that you wouldn't need with disposables.

The box we bought is literally the first disposable diapers we have ever bought! I'm a little concerned with leaks as my kids will hold their pee and flood their diapers at once. I hope a disposable is going to be able to handle it!

I would do disposable for this trip. Can you imagine on a hot day carrying a wet diaper around?

Count me in as another who used disposables when travelling, though in our case, we didn't go to Disney, we went to a week-long Pagan festival and camped. It was a hassle to have to walk over to use the washing machines and while other guests would say cloth diapers were awesome (being crunchy granola back to nature types themselves), they still tended to get freaked at the idea that you were washing your babies dirty diapers in the same sink or washing machine they would be using next.

Vacations with babies are a heck of a lot of work for mom. I went with whatever made my life easier - in this case disposable diapers - and no guilt.

The freaky part for me, the first time I put my kids in disposables, was how much they bulk up, get heavy and sag! No leaks, but there's a weird kind of squishyness about them. And they smell wrong. Kind of nasty and plasticky.

But being able to toss them right in the trash sure is convenient, when you're doing your changes in a public washroom!

My baby wipes didn't smell. I wonder what kind the used?

I've traveled with and without cloth. My oldest never had a disposable on him, and my youngest was CD'd until a month ago when he had to have surgery and we just figured we'd stop for the last few months until he starts to use the toilet. They were too darn convenient!

If people are on a long trip, I recommend prefolds and covers. They can go the longest between washes and can have rougher detergents on them. I did pockets once and would never do it again--had to strip after.

You'll want to run a load of bleach as the first no matter what. You wouldn't believe what grows in a washing machine, cloth diapers or no.
