Hello everyone,

Why do we have such dilemma's about what to get :scratchin I'm in the middle of a crisis I tell you and it's all about what to order at Kona Cafe for breakfast! So Tonga Toast or Macadamia Nut Pancakes what do ya'll think? I've never been for breakfast but I've been twice for dinner and I've been really really wanting to go for both of these breakfasts but not sure what to order and trust me if I don't decide now I'll drive my friend and the server crazy :rotfl:

Opinions wanted/needed!! Thanks.

Just go to the Kona twice for breakfast. First time get the Tonga Toast, second time get the pancakes. Problem solved :lmao:

I just had the macadamia pancakes on Monday. They are fantastic. But I don't like Tonga Toast. Too sugary and greasy for me.

I LOVE the Tonga Toast....probably wouldn't care for the pancakes. Personal preference.

1. Check out some photos online, see which looks more appealing
2. Share with a friend
3. Order both and take the rest back to the room for later?

Honestly, after looking at some pics myself, the pancakes just look like regular pancakes with Macadamia nut butter and pineapple on top. Am I wrong?
Tonga Toast is a force to be reckoned with

Do they sell tonga toast at the counter service? If so get it there on another day. Or convince someone in your party to split each with you.

Yes!! Tonga Toast is also available at Captain Cook's in the Polynesian. I LOVE the pancakes...I'm getting them when we go in May and going to cook's to get the Toast one morning! Win-win!!

I've had both and prefer the Pineapple Macadamia Nut Pancakes. The Tonga Toast is overly sweet and I didn't care for the banana which became mushy when deep fried. The Tonga Toast is available at Captain Cooks without the fruit compote.

The Pineapple Macadamia Nut Pancakes are delicious. There are pieces of macadamia nuts in the pancakes which give it a crunchy texture.

The Big Kahuna has pancakes with the same toppings, but no macadamia nuts in the pancakes.

well that settles it I'm going to have to try to get there twice or order the pancakes and go to captain cook's for the tonga toast. Does anyone know how long it's served for in the day?

I am already debating this myself...and the trip is 9 months away!

My solution is to make DH order one and i'll order the other. He already said he would, but if he looks at the menu and decides he really wants something else, I'll just get both! It wouldn't be the first time I ordered two breakfasts ;)

I have been having the same struggle!!! I really don't want to split, either...I'm a food hoarder! What if I really like one that much better than the other? I guess I'll have to order both. (Yes, my trip is 6 mos away and I'm already deciding what to order!)

I like the Tonga Toast so much, it's the first and only thing I've ordered off the menu. It's a cinnamon-sugar doughnut-ty thing with banana inside. We've been there several times, I've heard the Big Kahuna is good. Good luck with your choice. I like the idea of ordering 2 breakfasts. pixiedust: Vacation!! :beach:
