Hello, I am looking for suggestions…

When we board the Fantasy and they say the infamous "DCL would like to welcome the "xxxx" family…we'll…we're the Adams Family and I really don't want to hear that again….ugh… so…any suggestions?

I read once..many years ago about there being funny names given. Does anyone know any or have any suggestions? Thanks! We sail in 9 days!!!! :cool1:

We took my 62-year old sister on her 1st cruise (Disney, of course) last year and since Tink is her favorite character I had her introduced as Tinker-Margaret-Bell. The CMs thought that was really cute and she got lots of "HI, Tink!" as she wandered around the ship. Be sure to jot down what you'd like them to say and hand it to the CM as you are asked your family name or they might not get it right.

On our last cruise, I heard a family introduced as the Tortilla family. If that is their real name, I would never know.

On our cruise last year, it was the three of us and my BFF (DS wasn't born yet). We wanted to choose something that would include my BFF. Someone suggested "Princess ________ and her Entourage" in honor of my DD's birthday. I wish I had videoed her reaction when she heard that and saw all the CMs applauding.

Do they do this announcement on all DCL cruises? I am going on the Dream in July for a 4-night cruise. Are they going to do this announcement then too?

Do they do this for everyone onboard or only concierge or for a certain amount of people?

Thanks for the info!!!

Do you give your name to someone before they announce you?

Yes, they do this on all the ships for all passengers. If you don't tell them something different, they will read your last name.

They will do your first names if you ask. DBF and i went together and since we aren't married yet it was a little awkward when they asked for our party name. CM said they get that a lot and they would gladly say both our first names. It was nice because most places use his last name by default and though I can't wait to use it one day it isn't my name just yet.

If this is the case I am using the "Dr." in my name.....LOL.

Or maybe "Clinical Psychologist Dr. ........."

Yeah baby!!! LOL

Last cruise in November I went with my mom and my son. All three of us have different last names (I promise we are not dysfunctional...mom kept her maiden name, I kept my maiden name and of course my son carries his dad's last name). Anyway, when they asked I didn't know what to say so I just asked if they could say "Tita (what my son calls my mom) and JJ (my son's nickname)". They were happy to do it...I just walked in behind them (it was their trip anyway, I was just there to pay :rotfl:)

In my experience they will say anything you ask them to say as long as it's not inappropriate. My go-to name is Anita Martini.

Although I'd bet that no one would start snapping when they hear "The Adams Family," I can imagine that you get a lot of jokes about your names. :)

I'm not real creative with this sort of thing (I'd always go FOR The Adams Family, or Donner Party) but I'm sure others will have great suggestions. What about using a name of a TV show family you like? I'd think it would be funny to be introduced as the Ponds from Doctor Who, assuming you watch that. :)

On our first cruise, it was our Honeymoon, and every time I heard someone call me Mrs. Butler, I got confused. I actually told them our name was my maiden name when we got on board and my husband corrected it, or I am sure we'd have been introduced by my maiden name. :rotfl::rotfl:

I have to say if my last name was Adams I would tell them we were the Adams Family and then do the snap and then hope they did it back. They had to ask us our family name three times before they understood it well enough to announce it. I'm going to have to come up with something cute and easy to pronounce next time.

We're sailing concierge on the Fantasy this summer. DH and I. DD (different last name) DD's best friend. (so another different last name).

I'm considering the "Flipping Broke" family. :faint:

My daughter loved this!! I didn't even remember that they had announced us on our first cruise. When we booked the next cruise, the very first thing she asked was if they were going to say our name and clap again. It took me a minute to remember what she was talking about.

Great ideas about changing it to sound better. I am not creative enough to think of that on my own.:thumbsup2

I would definitely change it if I had Manson as my last name.

I had ours in my pocket on a piece of paper so they could just read it. We were
"Princesses Rio and Sydney and their humble servants" After all, it was for the girls and their parents and grandparents were there to serve them;)

Who did you tell? My DS and I have different last names, legally I never changed mine but I'd like to use his last name which the name I use except for taxes and travel.
