When to go to Disney World for Make a Wish trip

It is almost time for us to choose our days for my daughter's wish trip and I have no idea when the best time would be. Right now I am leaning towards September since kids are back in school and the crowds will be less. I have never been to Disney and would love some advice from some veteran Disney people. Thanks!:banana::banana::banana:

One of my favorite trips was the first week in December. I loved MVMCP (Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party) The Toy Soldiers in the parade was so fun and how many times do you get to see it snow on Main Street. The storytellers around the World Showcase were also so much fun. And the decorations in the parks are just beautiful. We even toured the resorts - saw the gingerbread house at Grand Floridian and the chocolate merry go round (can't remember Beach Club or Yacht Club). If I could I would only go the early part of December.
Enjoy your time whenever you do go.

I would go over to the disABILITIES Forum (a couple below this one). One of the top threads is a sticky related to Wish Trips.

I agree that you'll get more info in the Disabilities board. Some things to let us know are what kinds of issues is she dealing with currently? How does she handle heat or cold?
We chose October for my daughter's trip, as I had looked at temperature averages, without looking at highs and lows. It was a bit warmer than she would have liked best, she doesn't handle heat very well. We just went in Dec-Jan and even though she doesn't handle cold well, the cold days were ok for her, and the warmer days were just perfect.
With a wish trip the crowds won't matter as much but you'll still probably enjoy it more with less crowds, so choose a less crowded time (as adults we really enjoyed the food and wine fest, and the kids loved the Halloween party--later october would have been a better bet for us temperature wise).

We go just before the 25th of December. Even if you do not make MVCP it is the best time of year. My wife ,daughter and I go several times a year because we have APs. It is great all the time but its best at Xmass. Good luck.

Having been at all times of the year but never with a Wish kid I would have to say the fall season or Christmas season due to the weather. I love the week after thanksgiving, lower crowds (not empty like it used to be) but still nice temp wise (except my trip in 2010 BRRRR) and the Christmas decorations and special events are so much fun, a visit with Santa on Mainstreet with the Castle in the background - PRICELESS!

September would be a great time to go. We loved going at that time there were no crowds. We would go the week after labor day. I believe that would be a most enjoyable time for you to go.

The weather is still warm and you are correct in that everyone is back at school. You would really get the most out of the trip in September.:thumbsup2

I would think that a time where it is cool but not too cool, and crowds are low (not during any school vacations.)

The week after Labor Day is great for low crowds, but September is very very hot and humid, even well into the night. If you think the heat & humidity will bother her, then I would try to go in early November (after Halloween and before Thanksgiving).

Good luck, and have a great trip!

Whenever you go, your daughter deserves a stay in the Cinderella's Castle Suite. You cannot book it, but maybe the make a wish people could make it happen. That would be awesome!

Everyone's suggestions are wonderful. We are still hoping for September I think, but we aren't sure what is going to work out yet. She still needs to make her "official" wish which happens on May 20th, so she is pretty excited about it. It is awesome to know other really good times to go because I think they ask for a few dates that would work for you before they choose a date. My husband wants to go in November the week after Thanksgiving, so we will see how it all works out soon hopefully! We are sooo excited!

That would be incredible to stay in the Cinderella Castle Suite, but sadly there are enough wish kids in the states that go to Disney World that they can't make something like that happen anymore...

I live near there, and I've pretty much been there year-round. If low crowds are your top priority for comfort & convenience, I'd say the best time is mid-September & Mid-January.

September will be hot & humid, may rain daily for a short time in the afternoon. Another bonus in Sept is getting in on MNSSHP

January is dry; but weather is a gamble as it can be 40 degrees or 80 degrees-- sometimes it can be both in the same day, lol.

Xmas time is nice, I actually prefer Hollywood Studios Osborne display to MVMCP at the MK.

Weather wise, I think we are now leaning towards October, either the first or middle of October. I am not sure how well she will handle too much heat mixed with the humidity.

Plus, she talks about Halloween ALL the time and how she wants to go trick or treating and how she missed it last year even though some cute kids brought her candy. She is almost always dressed up and so I think going to the MNSSHP would be a huge thing for her. I think it would be one of her favorite parts of the entire trip. She would get to do the things she has talked about almost non stop since she got cancer, and I really want her to have the best time ever and make up for some of the many things she has missed out on since her cancer diagnosis.
