I have ADRs at Akershus and our LO will be 34 mths at the time of the trip. I checked on all ears.net for pricing and the price range for ages 3-9 is $25.55 - 29.81. Will we be charged the standard prices if we order off the menu (pizza) or can I bring her something to eat?

As long as the child is under age three at the start of the trip there is no charge for them at any buffet or all-you-can-eat location. And this includes beverages.

If this is a menu-only location, including quick service, you only have to pay for something ordered specifically for the child. It is expected that you will be able to feed them from your plate. And they will bring an empty plate which you can use.

That's great, thank you! She loves all the characters so I booked several of those meals and this will save us a lot of money, since she barely eats anything!

We took my daughter in December when she was 32 months. Because she was under 3, she was free. We imagined that she would be free to have her own plate from the appetizer buffet but would be expected to share a plate with my husband or me. We were wrong! She did get to go up to the appetizer buffet as many times as she wanted, but then she also got to order her own entree, as well. She had the salmon and it was a rather generous portion and came with sides and everything. Desserts are served family style and are all-you-can-eat. We were absolutely shocked that my daughter would be free and still get so much food.

For the record, she got her own meal for free at Garden Grill, as well.

Really? That's interesting:) Did someone at the restaurant tell you she was free or did you ask? I have a 4 and 2 year old and we will be at disney in 2 weeks! When we went last December my youngest just ate off our plates since she wasn't on the dining plan and I never asked for anything else so was curious:)

When we went with DS twice when he was under 3 he also got an entree for free and a drink both times! They just asked what we wanted for him and it was brought out for him.

At Akershus, the waitress asked me her age. I said that she was two and the waitress informed me that that meant she was free. I asked if that meant that she was allowed to eat off of the appetizer buffet and share our desserts and she explained that our daughter was free to do both of those things and that we also had the option of ordering her her own meal off of the kid's menu or just having her share one of our meals.

At Garden Grill, the waiter said that he saw that she was under 3 and told us that meant that she would get her own meal. We told him that that really wasn't necessary as she would be more than happy eating the foods that he brought for all of us. He told us that it was complimentary and that we could all feel free to eat off of her meal and that he recommended we go ahead and order it since it was different foods that we could try. She got a chicken drumstick, macaroni and cheese (with goldfish on top which I thought was cute), broccoli, and sweet potato fries. She also got her own dessert of two cupcakes.

Technically neither Akershus nor Garden Grill are menu-service.

They both fall into the all-you-can-eat category and children under three (or turning three during the trip) are free and entitled to their own plates and beverages.

This is great information for me! We are going in a month and my DD will be 34 months and my DS will be 13 months. Sadly my DS eats more than his sister most of the time :(

This is worth repeating. The restaurants on this thread (and CRT) will give an under 3-yr old a meal.

However, If you order meals for an under 3-yr old at restaurants that are not "all you care to eat", you will be charged.

Akershus is not all you care to eat except for the appetizer buffet area, but it is a fixed-price restaurant, not an a la carte. They will provide food for a child under age 3.

Garden Grill is family style, all you care to eat and fixed price. Children under 3 can eat anything the rest of the family eats without charge.

It's at the a la carte restaurants (separate price for each menu item) that the general policy is that you pay for every meal, including those for children under 3.
