To be honest, my own feeling is that it shouldn't be as necessary to plan the life out of a visit to WDW as it has now become.

I agree. Thank goodness though I had a friend that showed me the Disney trip planning ropes. The last time I went to DW was in college with my parents and sister (and all the muppets were the big meet & greets at MGM...). Last time we went to DL, was about 15 years ago - and we just went for the day. Things have changed!

It should be possible to just book a vacation and simply turn up and enjoy it.

But what with the pre-booking race that ADRs have turned into (and I suspect FastPass+ will go the same way) they really are locking out the casual spontaneous traveller, along with the unwary souls who think that this should in some way be a relaxing family occasion...

Andre

I agree that it should not take all of this planning. I think there are still more spontaneous travelers though which don't plan much out. I would love to just go with the flow which we have done in the past. This time I have a different vacation experience in mind. I think it's ridiculous to have to get ADR so early on but if I hadn't informed myself of how things are working now I would have gone to let's say a character meal and not have gotten in probably because it was already booked. We've never done table service dining at Disney so coming here and getting tips and info is invaluable to me.
You just mentioned the FastPass + and I hadn't heard about that either. I already read up on it and will be on the lookout just in case it does show it's face before I go on my vacation. This doesn't mean we'll get it but at least now I know about it. Just the info. given here is awesome.

Does anyone have a picture of the inside of a refridgerator at POR?

Great fridge pic, Andre...I love how the drinks give the size perspective! :)

Question for those that have faxed room requests...I sent mine last Thursday, and never heard anything back. I know that in the past some have heard back and others have not....is not hearing back a bad thing? I'm mostly concerned because we will be a REALLY late arrival..like midnight late...and I'm hoping that won't hurt our chances of getting some of our requests...we really want AB, and paid for River View, but I'd also love to be near the food court. I know, I know...don't most of us! :) Thanks -- just 4 more days! Woohoo!

Weird question. The refillable mugs that people say they collect as souvenirs, are they the same as the ones you get with the dining plan?

I sent my fax on Friday and have not heard back either. I booked through Orbitz so I don't know if that makes a difference (do have a Disney confirmation number though). Plus, I had to use gotfreefax.com. Hope you get your requests!! pixiedust:

We have 2 rooms booked that are River View (not Royal), but I don't know if these will be in Magnolia Bend or Alligator Bayou. We would like to get these rooms connecting, but not at the expense of having a longer hike to the main buildings or bus stops. Can I get some advice on what to ask for (because it never hurts to ask) when we check in . . . or even prior to check by faxing or phoning in a request? Also, if we end up at Acadian House, is this a good location?

Staying here two nights before heading over to WL. We haven't stayed in a moderate yet so looking forward to checking it out.

thats funny. my wife was the one who wanted this trip yet she has done none of the planning. she hasn't even looked at this site. she doesn't believe me when I tell her all thats invovled with a sucesful trip.

Right with you, I do the planning my wife does the scrapbooking when we get home ! :)

We both love disney, but maybe I love it a little more ... :)

19 days out from my first stay at POR!!!

I have a question for you Andre. I have a standard room booked and have requested top floor in the Magnolia Bend section. Which building should I request to be closer to the Riverside Mill?
