Our little thread of BIG Resort Changes~2013 Spring RC installment

Not open for further replies.
So just added breakfast at The Wave for our next to last morning. Early ADR, but I'm thinking of letting DS do the pirate cruise at GF that morning, so we'd need to be done and over there by 9:15am I think? 8:00am give us enough time ya think?

Was thinking maybe the dessert party for our anniversary, but we have a 6:45 ADR at CRT, so maybe that's pushing it with too much food? (Desserts). OR do I change our anniversary dinner to Via Napoli at Epcot (since we got engaged in Italy at Epcot) and do an early dinner ADR at CRT our last day and do the dessert party then? Hmmm...wishes isn't until 10pm when we're there if that makes a difference.

Krystal in Nov. we had dinner at BOG before wishes ADR was for 4:30 and we were out in time to see the castle Dreamlights. We went to the Dessert Party at 8pm but were still so full bob and I had a total of 4 strawberries, but I will say the cost was worth it for the seats and view alone. If I do the Dessert Party again will have a late lunch most likely CS so we have room for treats at the Party.

Shelia and Koh - we LOVED The Wave when we were at CR in Feb. Breakfast was phenomenal!!! The kids and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner but DH was not thrilled with his, but I think that was just because of what he ordered. I thought his was great.

So DH keeps telling me there are a lot of if's with this next trip and I get it, but I am still going to stay positive and plan it like I know it is going to happen. At first I was thinking I have never planned a vacation this far out but then I remembered our cruises, I used to book over a year and half in advance so I guess I have been though this process before. Who knows, once we decide when to renew our passes maybe we will get up there before Feb, but I told him I don't want to do a whole bunch of little trips again. Only time will tell :rolleyes1

Melissa

MelissaI know we want to eat at the wave but not sure which meal yet. ADRs seem easy to come by there so will fit it in once I get my others in place. I am torn between GF Cafe for B or L too :confused3

Rumor was some time in September, but it still isn't taking reservations for that month.

We're going first week of November, not doing DP this trip so I doubt I will book it but you never know, thanks

Good morning all my fellow RCers! :-)

I think my TA is ready to kill me with my ADR changes. :-) BUT I think I have a good plan set now. But if I'm not changing the resort or room or ADRs, what else is there to do?? YIKES! :-)

Next project is the autograph book...(or rather bookS). :-) And booking family pics one morning while we're there and figuring out what we're going to wear for that. Thinking we'll do those at the Poly.

Is it summer yet?? :-)

Seriously behind my friends since I was out of pocket this weekend, cleaning, purging and emptying our bedroom preparing for our new carpet today. I am a pack rat and it wasn’t easy going thru a mess that I’ve allowed to accumulate over the years.

Marie, my sympathies to you on your Grandma’s passing. Hoping and praying your Dad continues a steady pace to full recovery. Know too, that I have been keeping Allan in my thoughts and prayers as well. I am sad he is experiencing so much pain ...hopefully he will soon begin to see a lessening. And I agree that it’s a good idea at some point for Allan to speak with a therapist. Marie, I’m sure he draws strength to keep going from you. Hang in there... and for happier news, congrats on moving forward with the DIVA trip! you all will have so much fun! Not sure at this point that I can committ, but you all will be the first to know if/when I can. :goodvibes

So sorry Melissa, so sorry to learn of your cousin’s passing. And you are so right my friend…. always a good reminder that Life is indeed short… we all need to take life one day at a time and be thankful for everyone in our lives and enjoy our blessings…. our family, and extended family and friends, and for me this includes all of you. :goodvibes

Pas, welcome back! Whenever you end up, we will find you!!

Koh, hoping your DD is feeling better! (and unfortunately, it is NOT summer yet ... :))

I know I've missed a lot ... so will try to go back and catch up tonight. Today promises to be another busy day. :)

Hello lovely ladies. :goodvibes

Hope everyone's having a good morning so far...

Sheila: Oh, GF Cafe! I've been meaning to check them out. Now that we've booked a monorail resort, I might have to get an ADR. I remember reading something about a really nice burger?... :scratchin I had a really decent sandwich from Cap'n Cooks last time we were there, with a side of crunchy Asian-inspired slaw. ::yes:: Thumbs-up from me for The Wave :thumbsup2 We had dinner there though. For the life of me, I can't remember what I ordered though.

Petey: :scratchin Wondering if they'll open up reservations for later in the year.

~~-------------------------~~

... I still need to think of something for the hubbo's 40th. :faint: (And maybe a little something not-the-norm for the day we fly in, which is our anniversary.) Maybe California Grill that night if they open up ADRS? :scratchin

Just wanted to pop in and say hello. I hope everyone is doing well. Things are their normal crazy around here, which includes JM getting suspended from school for a few days. If only those 157 days until we check into the BC could just fly by.

Luckily it's Friday, .and I have a 12 pack of Strawberry-ritas cooling in the fridge waiting for the DH to get home.
:grouphug: That stinks. Hope you enjoyed the margaritas though!:thumbsup2

PigletsMommy: Have you all done a DCL before? If so....share!!:goodvibes

Well, I will pop in later, I am on my own tonight. DH's band is playing a fundraiser concert tonight for a friend of a friend who is battling cancer for a second time. He is only 40ish, with a wife and two small boys. They were trying to save for a trip to Disney (this brought tears to my eyes.) when the cancer returned and the drug treatments are just eating away at their entire finances. Hope tonight will raise some much needed funds for them. I will try and post a link about them...

Hope this works:

We did the 4 night Dream cruise for my 40th B-day in Feb. It was AMAZING!!! My 13 YO, Chris said it was the best time of his life. It is more expensive than most other cruises, but oh so worth it. Let me know if you have any questions as you continue to plan.

Hope the fundraiser went well!

I just got a 40% pin for Universal...:surfweb:
:woohoo:
Good morning all fellow RCers!!

DD was miserable yesterday with diarreah, and although she seems better in that department, she's awfully crabby and whiny. It's going to be a long weekend...

No RC news although my TA did get ADRs set up. Most of them are what I wanted. O'Hana dinner is just a bit later than I wanted...8:00 at night...may have to tweak a few things if we decide to let DS do a pirate adventure cruise thing or if we do the Pirate and Pals Wishes cruise then...

Have a good day! DD is being her RH self right now and wants me...I'll be back later! :-)
Hope she is feeling better now!
:thumbsup2
:grouphug: I'm BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKK:grouphug:

I am going to attempt to catch up, I am at work...of course, but my YC trip is on shaky ground. RPR was wonderful, US/IoA was SO much fun...I am SO :faint: torn. Unfortunately the funds will not support a split stay...so for now I have both booked:rotfl2:
If in doubt, book them both!!!
 Hello my RCer Family! :goodvibes I'm back from my BC trip, my Dad is still in the hospital - high acuity unit / one step down from ICU. His surgery seems to have been a success, but he has a long road to recovery ahead of him. We received more bad news Easter Sunday, my Grandma passed away. Let's say the last 5 weeks since Allan's accident have been a blur! It's been the month from hell, one we won't soon forget! Hopefully April brings not only May flowers, but New beginnings for us! One spot of happiness in the last month of chaos is I booked my leave from work for the DL DIVA trip next FEB 26-March 2! I also have the BEST roomie (our very own MinnieNana/ Christine :lovestruc) also Linda will be there with her lovely daughter Jessica! I am looking forward to getting away for some much needed girl time!
My son is trying to weasel his way into my trip with his BFF.... He wants me to book him and his friend a offsite hotel and let them go do their own thing (they'll be 17&18) but I don't know how I feel about them being off site and on their own in LAX -- I'm staying at the GCH, and could book them a room near me, but this trip is for me to get away for some girl time. I just am not feeling like saving for extra people and bringing anyone else along -- I just want the DIS DIVA experience! I'm going to have a hard time saying no to my son, he's promising to pay for himself, and his BFF pay for himself, but really-- I just kind of want those 5 days with the ladies, to make new friends, strengthen new relationships and just be one of the Girls! ::yes::

PIGLETS MOMMY: I am so thankful we are getting a great deal on our DIVA trip at the GRAND $200 per night is a steal! I wanted to stay at DLH, but the pricing onsite is crazy!! I will happily stay with the group deal onsite at the GCH (my second choice) to save hundreds of dollars! Onsite pricing without discounts is definitely :faint:
:grouphug: Hang in there, you've had a rough time lately! That is a great rate at GCH!:thumbsup2 I know the favt tat we are there over 4th of July isn't helping us in that department!
Hello my RC family. I have gone MIA again after a busy and chaotic week. Lots of Steven issues :(

I was on the WDW site today pricing out a quick weekend in May but we decided against it. We are probably going to head to Busch Gardens when we visit my parents on the west coast of FL instead.

And lastly, as we have said so many times before... life is short. Make memories now while you can! You never know what tomorrow will bring. My cousin who was posting on Facebook last night and was fine had a stroke today and passed away. I am angry because he has been working in Miami off and on and we always seemed to miss each other. We didn't make the time to see each other and now we won't be able to.

So....BOOK THOSE TRIPS!!!!!

Hugs!!!!!
Melissa

So sorry! :grouphug:

On the change front... :-) Since I am determined to keep the CR deluxe room, I was playing with my ADRs last night, and actually talked through a revised plan with DH, so...hopefully my TA can make it happen. We will see...

But, we decided the kids wouldn't enjoy the dinner at O'Hana as much, and Narcoossee's was rather disappointing last year, so...some new additions include dinner at 1900 Park Fare (anyone done the Cinderella Happily Ever After dinner here?). Tony's Town Square (which we did a few years ago and actually liked despite some of the reviews I've seen). Also Coral Reef for lunch. No more Rose and Crown, Narcoosee's, or O'Hana for dinner.
We loved 1900 Park Fare. Great food for a buffet, and the characters were great. The stepsisters were hilarious and played with the men and boys a lot. So the girls got Cinderella and the prince, and the boys had a blast with the stepsisters.
Life is short, this we know. So even though we talked about not renewing our passes and saving money I have convinced DH that we should take one big Disney vacation next year (as well as our summer beach vacation).

We looked at the calendar and wanted to book during Value Season and because DH has so many different reports due at certain times of the month and year he is limited to when he can take a whole week off, so there was ONE WEEK that would work during Value Season and I knew it was a long shot getting what I wanted, but I took a chance and called CRO.

So as long as there is a discount offered and DH's job is stable we will be staying at:

Bay Lake Tower - 1 Bedroom Villa
February 1-8, 2014
:dance3:

Right now I am booked at FULL RACK RATE :crazy2:

I'll be back to catch up in a bit, right now I am working with Steven on a poetry project.

:grouphug:
Melissa
THat sounds awesome!

:grouphug: thank you all for your support this past month! :grouphug: your kind words and loving thoughts have made my heart lighter! :flower3: I love y'all.

Melissa, your 2014 trip sounds divine! 1 BDRM Villa at BLT! that'll be a great location! My 2015 trip, I want to stay at KIDANI in a 1 BDRM villa. I know the location may not be in the center of things, but I can compromise some of that for the beauty and the extra space! I love the transportation from AKL, and with Kidani being the first pickup, I can't beat that! Some compromise, but it will be worth it and offer us all we need. I hope BLT 1 BDRM offers you everything you could want and need too! :goodvibes

Update on Allan --
Frustrating and sad that Allan is in a lot of pain the last while. This injury is weird, it's unlike any surgery we've been through. Usually with surgery, you expect some healing time/ soreness but there is always a sense of getting better every day. This injury isn't like that, Allan actually cried last night in bed because of the constant achyness, tightness and pain. he's got a high pain threshold normally, so I know this is giving him a run he's finding hard! I just wish it would start to get better. We will just have to keep taking things one day at a time! What a month it's been, I'll be happy to get farther away from March! We are looking at a long road to recovery, the Occupational Therapist said a year wouldn't be far off if she where to guess, and it could be longer. he's got a double whammy injury with the amputation AND the shattered pinky/ bone graft, it's a complex healing process. Al is worried he won't get movement back again, it brings him to a dark place sometimes where he just wishes he could play that day differently. I know he'll need to talk to someone about the trauma and the worry, but he also is determined if his fingers can gain movement again he will do it! He's a fighter and I am very proud of him -- I'll stand by him through it all!
Baby steps, right! :thumbsup2

SUE: thank you for your kindness! We are BC born and raised, all our family is there, and we'd love to come home one day! (This injury has actually made Al wish we could pick up and leave Edmonton, so who knows ) for sure the next time we are home, I'd LOVE to meet up! :) have you thought of doing the DisDIVA trip to DL??? I'm going next year....so excited! Oops! I just saw you are just going to be returning from WDW! Yeah! How fun!!! Maybe in the future, I have a feeling the Dis Diva trip will become a staple in my life in the coming years! 2015 is WDW, but once my kids are gone and its just me and my Disney love (DH can take it only every 5 yrs or so)-- well, I'll need someone to share the love with, so the girls trip fits the bill perfectly! I hope DS comes to terms with the fact that I'm taking him and his GF for their graduation in Jan/Feb 2015 -- and this time it's just me and my friends, it's much needed!
Love to you all! :grouphug:
:grouphug: hang in there!
22 more days and then I can finally make my reservations.

Hopefully California Grill will be taking them by then.
I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's done!

Hi Janet! Glad you got it done! I'm sure it will be great once it's all finished!

That sounds great!

My TA is making the dining changes as I type this! (At least I think he is...) :-)

And I booked the hotel on the way down and back. So that's done. Will check with DH about pirate adventure cruise for DS and dessert party, but I can't book the dessert party yet anyway, SO...

Now I just sit and wait? Hmmm...time to start planning those photo/autograph books!

:grouphug: That stinks. Hope you enjoyed the margaritas though!:thumbsup2

I still haven't had one yet. I usually take my blood pressure meds just after dinner, and it was either take them later (and risk being up all night running to the bathroom) or just not drink the rita.

Joey had JT's birthday party on Saturday and we had to practically force him to go. He wanted me to stay, so he could grab me to go when he was ready to leave. He ended up having a great time and so did I. JT's parent's were really nice and I met another lady who is really big into Comic Cons. Actually, she writes for a blog and can go on press passes. She was happy to find someone else in the area that loves going to them as much as she did and could talk about the celebs attending and actually know who they are.

This weekend was double experience points in the Star Wars game we play, so the DH had me playing a ton. I was actually in game until about 2 AM, this morning.

Well I didn't get any school work done this weekend, and I have probably stalled long enough, so y'all have a great day!!

Busy weekend ... DD was in town for a quick visit so we did lots of mother/daughter bonding. :goodvibes

Melissa so sorry to hear about your cousin. And you are so correct life is too short .... book those vacations! :thumbsup2

Marie you have really been having a hard time of it ... so sorry about your grandmother. Lots of positive thoughts that Allan starts feeling better soon. He is such a strong man I know that we will be able to deal with this it will just take a little time. The Diva trip will be so good for you ... if you decide to book an offsite room for the boys let me know ... I still suggest the Hilton ... just a little farther than some of the others on Harbor Bl but clean and safe. Don't pay any attention to the cost on the Hilton website ... should be able to do much better than that. :thumbsup2

Sue good luck on your surgery. If you need an expert wheel chair pusher .... I'm your girl!!! :rotfl2: We took my grandson about 3 weeks after he'd had his last chemo treatment so of course he was in a wheel chair. My DD has had 2 knee surgeries and for some strange reason we had already booked and paid for trips to WDW right after both surgeries so of course we went!

Janet glad all the organizing and furniture moving went well ... now you can just enjoy the new carpet!!!! :)

Jeanette so happy to have you back but even more excited to hear that you and Brian had such a wonderful time! Still thinking that DD and I need to do a fall 2014 trip to Universal! :cool1:

As for the Dessert Party ... I've done it 4 times now and really enjoy it! Not sure if it's the desserts or just not having people in my personal space while I watch the fireworks.. It's just so nice and peaceful to just sit there eating yummy desserts waiting for the fireworks to start. I wouldn't book a dinner ADR on the day of the party .... too much food .... maybe a lunch ADR and a light CS for dinner???? :confused3

Have a great afternoon!

Now all this talk of Dessert Parties has me wondering if I should book it... I mean, even if it wasn't to see fireworks, huge tables of sweet stuff has got me sold already. :thumbsup2

Linda and All Other Dessert Party Experts: What happens when the fireworks start? Is there a mad rush to the railing? Or can everyone get a decent view? popcorn::

P.S. to Sheila: Oooooooh MY! I just looked at the menu for the GF Cafe. Gotta book it now. :hyper: That fondue is calling my name.

Most people do move to stand at the rail however there doesn't seem to be rushing or any pushing. DD & I always end up right next to the rail .... guess we move quick :rotfl2: .... but we always offer to let a couple of kids stand in front of us since we can see over them. Some of the tables in the back would not be able to see all the fireworks without moving to the rail. I believe that Sheila & Bob stayed in their seats and had a fine view. Also Sheila has a wonderful thread where the DIS peeps are great about posting when the booking opens for a particular month and very helpful about answering and questions. If you follow that thread you'll know as soon as the booking opens so you'll be one of the first to book .... :thumbsup2

I really need to start thinking about the ADRs I want to make for my trip in the fall.

I am so glad I have the ADRs we wanted booked, so I don't have that to worry about. I just have to worry they will announce Free Dining for our dates (9/9-14). What were your dates again? Do you have any idea which ones you want, or are you starting from scratch?

I'm going 10-27 to 11/2

I'm going to spend one late afternoon going booth to booth at F&W.

I want one dinner at BOG, California Grill, Flying Fish.

Breakfasts will either be Kona, The Wave, or just pastries here or there.

Arrival day is always lunch at Liberty Tree, it's sort of a tradition thing for me.

Hi everyone :wave2:

It's been a long but good day. All things considered off course. I haven't even had a chance to start obsessing about my next Disney trip that is just about 300 days away, lol!

The kids had great days, I had a great therapy session (yes I finally put myself back into therapy) and my cousin called me today to say she and her partner are coming to Siesta Key with us this summer  My mom and I have been bugging them to come but she in in the Air Force and the whole sequestration thing has been hanging over her head so she felt like she could not commit. But then end of last week she decided that she cant control the future and she is going to live her life and do what she wants. So they booked tickets. Then our cousin passed on Saturday and it kind of confirmed that she did the right thing ::yes:: She called me today while I was in car line and I was jumping up and down so much that I am sure the other cars were wondering what the hell was happening in my truck on school grounds :lmao:

I have nothing planned tomorrow so I will be catching up with my RC family for sure :thumbsup2

Hugs to everyone :grouphug:
Melissa

Janet: Can you add me and our Christine (my roomie :thumbsup2) to the Dis Diva DL 2014 trip list too? I'm beyond excited :goodvibes
If you can swing it would love to see you too! Dates are Feb 26- Mar 2, 2014 GCH Dis Diva Ladies Only Trip DL
