June 8, 2013 Mediterranean Magic!!

The last couple of cruises we took with DCL (Dec & June) I believe you were able to leave with your luggage @ 7:30am. The only Navigator I can find from our last cruise says as soon as they are cleared at the dock. Now who knows what it will be in Barcelona. 7:30am might be cutting it a little close. Do we have customs of some sort to pass through? Or that is on our way home?

I would guess there's customs to enter Spain just like we have to go through customs at PC to re-enter USA.

Then customs again at airport maybe? I don't remember. The last time I flew home from MX was way before 9/11.

I know for sure there will be customs to go through when we arrive back in US. Also if you will be connecting, you need to go through customs at the first city you arrive in the US. We did this when we flew home from Ireland; we stopped in Boston so went through customs there, then connected to Philly.

When we flew home from our Alaskan cruise we had an 11:15 am flight and still had plenty of time. Even took DCL transfers but also did onboard check in so we didn't have to check luggage. That saves a lot of time. Hopefully we at least have time to grab a snack in BCN.

My 2DSs and I are staying at Novotel Barcelona City as well. We stayed at Apsis Marina last time. This hotel is right near the HOHO bus so no walking at the end of a long day of sightseeing.

Just wondering if there will be many teenage girls. I'll have a 13 & 14 year old. I've seen lots of boys that age but not any girls. Can't wait to go, but first have the Princess Run this weekend & the Aulani next month!

I booked the cruise on Day 1 last year. Initially we were going on the 12 cruise. My DH really wanted to go to Paris too, so we switched to the 7 day. Flights to Paris were a lot more expensive than flying into London, so we added London to our plans. We will spend 2 nights in London, 4 in Paris and then 2 in Barcelona before boarding the Magic. Getting VERY excited!

I finally read all of the posts and see a lot of boys too. We are traveling with our 3 daughters. DD1 18, DD2 14 and DD3 11. We booked 2 rooms this trip so we don't have to fight over showers and bathrooms. Initially we had one veranda room and one interior room. We changed to Deluxe Ocean View room and a partial obstruction Ocean View (priced at inside stateroom) to save money. We want to do excursions in all the ports since this is our first trip to Europe and are nervous about going out on our own tours and missing the ship! A friend of mine took the 2007 Med Cruise and her bus broke down from Rome. The ship waited for them because it was booked through Disney.

We traveled on the Magic in January 2001 for 7 days. Loved it! At the time we had 2 kids and booked a Veranda room because I figured we would be spending nap time in the room. Now that the girls are much older, we skipped the veranda. I also worry that since we are in Europe there will be a lot of smokers in other veranda cabins and I won't want to enjoy the balcony with smoke wafting my way! Sorry smokers...

We are getting really excited about the upcoming trip! I haven't done much research yet. I love reading all of your tips, suggestions, complaints, words of wisdom etc. Keep them coming!

We did kind of the same thing! We were booked on the cruise going to Greece and then started looking at Italy. We thought about the cost of the longer cruise and then saw this one and switched. Now we can spend a few days in London, and about 10 days in Italy! DH is already saying Paris will be on the agenda next time with maybe the UK.
I am so anxious about all of our travel in Europe.
I hope you are wrong about the smokers, too. We had that happen to us on our MR cruise and it was awful! I am pretty open minded about people doing things to make their experience better but if it makes mine a bad one, it just isn't very considerate. Both my parents smoked and quit shortly after I moved out of the house. But I can't stand the smell.

I have started packing. I'm packing 1/10 off the list for 10 weeks and then a couple of days before we fly out I'll sort and organise across the 4 suitcases.
