Can someone point to a thread or explain the issues with buying add on points for the same home resort but different use years.

4 waitlists rather than 2. Less chance of points going into holding when taking holiday different times of year.

technically, you cannot "add-on" pts with a different UY month. "add-on" implies that you are adding on to your existing master contract. buying a different UY month means you are buying a different master contract (with a different membership number).

1) different memberships means you keep track of the contracts separately. you cannot pool pts from both contracts to book a single night stay. you have 2 different banking windows to keep track of.

2) on the bright side, as stated already, you have 2 different banking windows so you can use a mar UY contract for trips in spring and summer and use your oct UY contract for trips in nov-dec...and in that way you are always traveling early in your UY with less risk of losing pts if you need to cancel.

it's not a huge deal to have 2 UYs, but it is more to keep track of...

If I am adding on and intend to bank and borrow can I do this with combined different UY points? Will transfer rules apply to me?

I have one small contract Dec UY (bought resale). My larger number of points are Sept UY (all direct from Disney way back when). If I want to use the smaller contract, I have to transfer the points. But if I need more than I have in the current UY, I need to make a reservation with that contract and ask for them to be linked. You cannot borrow transferred points. I have been told each time I transferred that I used my once a year transfer in or out for both contracts when I transferred from Dec to Sept. Others have been told they can still transfer again.

Transferred points maintain their resort and UY. So my Dec OKW points stay Dec OKW points when I combine them with my Sept OKW or Sept VWL points.

I cannot use some Sept points and some Dec points for a single night if I don't transfer. I have to use all Sept points for some nights and some Dec points for another night.

Different UY will always be a different member number.

To move points between different UYs, it involves a transfer and you can only transfer current UY points. So, you have to transfer before toy banked. And transferred points can not be borrowed.

We own two UYs but each has a good number of points. We have 180 BLT points in our June UY and 150 BWV points and 100 BLT points in our Dec UY. This will allow us to use each on its own. The goal is to eventually get another 100 BWV points for my June UY...once that happens, then we will have what we need to book things the way we want without having to worry about combining from different memberships.

Question- if I use (just for ex) my boardwalk sept use year points for he first three nights of a trip and ssr points from another contract for the last 3 nights then does that mean I ban purchase a different meal plan for the first 3 nights? Or none at all for the first 3 and one for the last 3 etc?

If they are all the same UY, they will be combined into one set of points. If they are different member ID number (not just 12345.001 and 12345.002, but 12345.000 and 23456.000), they would be two separate reservation. But they would be linked if the same resort, same size villa, same booking category and you would not move to a different villa. If you have to move to a different villa, you can have two different dining plans.

You have to move to a different category of room or different resort to get a different dining plan.
