OMG!!! I hadn't heard anything about this. Prayes sent to him and his family.

i don't want to start a whole incident as to what went down the first time this story was posted on this forum but did anyone find out exactly what happened?? "almost drowned" as in it just happened? hit his head? prior illness???

Any word on who saved him? Thankful he was there and knew exactly what to do!!! Was it a CM?

We will probably hear all kinds of accounts tomorrow when the Fantasy returns and those cruisers start posting. Complete speculation on my part but it sounded almost like another passenger saved him as in one of the posts on caring bridge they mention talking on the phone to the mother of the person who saved him.

According to the FB and caring bridge posts, they do not know what happened.

As a parent I can't imagine not knowing what happened. All of it is so heartbreaking. Really hope he recovers.

I am so glad to read that he is breathing on his own. However, I am very confused by one of the parent updates from early on—according to them, he was drowning in a salt water pool with no chlorine. Where is that on the Fantasy? I thought all DCL pools were fresh water with chlorine?

I was wondering the same thing...but I haven't been on the Fantasy so I wasn't sure.:confused3

They are all fresh water super-heavily chlorinated pools. They are not salt water pools.

So how did he end up in a drowning situation onboard in a salt water pool? The parents said that his recovery is specifically due to his lungs' reaction to salt water instead of fresh water + chlorine.

Maybe the parents made a mistake in their posting. Totally possible, and understandable, considering their circumstance.

Maybe they just got their info wrong.

I have noticed that some of the posts are not actually the parents, so it may be possible that they didn't know. I had wondered that myself because we have sailed Carnival (salt water) and Disney (which is definitely chlorinated).

The Disney home page says they use fresh water pools. Most cruise ships use salt though.

Some of the medical details seem weird. Fevers aren't actually dangerous until they get much much higher, and ice is hard to control as a cooling substance - they would use a cooling blanket rather than ice I would think.
